I would love to say that your fears are unfounded, but Sony has been really disappointing this gen.

They don't want to pay money for exclusives, they want to have a more western-centric lineup, and the worst part is that they are showing that they have lost touch with the gaming market that they have grown over the past 10 years.

Well, I don't really wanna say it since there is still the Sony conference tomorow and anything can happen, but so far, they've just cemented themselves into third place this gen already.

Its nice I saw those but really its meaningless without a concrete release date. If Sony can commit to a release date for their games maybe I'll be interested. I still feel the sting when inFamous was announced as a 2009 title.
 
OMG at the infamous footage. You know a game is going to look amazing when the only
preview is on you tube and your still blown away. The part where he lands on the car
shooting lightning everywhere...damn.

Cemented is a strong word, but that could change in a flash.

Sony needs a perception change, and they need to show the audience that they are not completely out of touch with the gamers wants and needs.

That was their weakness last gen. What's amazing is MS realized what their weaknesses were, worked hard on fixing it, WITHOUT forgetting their past fans. It feels like a complete opposite with Sony now. I hope they prove me wrong tomorrow.

Personally all I want is a release date.

What I want is more White Knight and Valkyria Chronicle level games.

Get more RPG's and get more awesome ones, 2 or 3 is not enough, especially when the rival has triple that.

So true, I don't mind that they have a more western centric lineup, but the problem is that they also forgot to get the Japanese games went they went that path. I buy consoles based on Japanese games, and the 360 has the strongest home console lineup of Japanese games at the moment.

This is quite sad because Sony seemed to have forgotten what made them so good in the first place, while MS has done an amazing job fixing all they holes they had last gen.

Shape up sony!!! >_<

Probably but with no release date its hard to be excited for it. Sony this gen seem to not be able to commit to a release date. It is so frustrating to be hyped anymore.

They did pay for exclusives, 1st party exclusives, and I'm guessing also MGS4 but that doesn't really count in the whole 1st party thing.

They went out and paid for Heavenly Sword and Lair, look how those came out, then they went ahead and took Haze, of all 3rd party games, Haze. ~_~

Zillions of dollars went instead to Killzone 2 (which if it delivers, and it probably will isn't so bad) and millions to the acquisition of Evolution Studios.

I've been a stalwart of the PlayStation family for the longest time (although I'm more of a Sega fanatic if anything, which would explain why I still love the PS3 due to all the Sega love), but for Sony to let FFXIII go, the franchise that essentially help cement the PlayStation brand as well as making a niche genre into one of the industry's most important is just well, ridiculous.

Prove me wrong Sony, prove me wrong, hell Steinberg go make your Blu-ray comment from months past come true while you're at it.

I think they've done quite enough demonstrating they are in touch with the "gamers wants and needs", with all the firmware updates, adding features and catering to the demands of the online hardcore gaming population.

I agree that they could use a few more third-party exclusives, though.

Don't say March because that is when GODIII "supoosedly suppsose to come out and knowing Sony they cannot have those 2 titles in the same month, so InFamous gets pushed back or God of War III gets pushed back and we the PS3 fans won't hear about the delay until March 2009.

LR probably out in Japan or US this year on 360 first.

Lets play a match in Wipeout HD oh wait no release date and its a PSN title!!! Not even Wipeout HD has a release date how sad is that!!

I disagree, since launch they have ignored gamers like myself whose purchases mainly come from Japan.

Sony forgot about us when they expanded into Western genres.

Well considering that MS is able to get FFXIII to be released in US the same time as the PS3 version and whilst Sony can't even get Eternal Sonata, Last remnant and assuming Vesperia is a timed exclusive to get a simultaneous release on both platforms. I can't see how Sony can fix their situation any time soon. The only saving grace to this announcement for Sony is that FFXIII is still exclusive on the PS3 in Japan, because if it ain't, they might as well kiss Japan goodbye.

Infamous actually looked much better than I expected. I'm interested in seeing more on that. Is Infamous third party who is producing a first party title for Sony or are they Sony owned?

Which brings me back to my Nintendo comment or if you look at it the other way, given all of Sega's support, the PS3 is now the latest Sega console incarnation.

N64/GC successor or Saturn/Dreamcast successor, take your pick. =(
