What worst is that the general feeling of acceptance for the lack of JRPGs on the system because FF13 would always be out for it exclusively, is somewhat killed now that it isn't. It's kind of like cheering on your autistic brother because you knew he would do something awesome one day, but then find out your other normal brother will do it too.

Thing is that it's still a victory to have the game exclusive in Japan. It will make a much bigger impact there than the other territories. WADA better show up at the conference tomorow. Either way you will not be dissapointed after it's over. Sony has much more tucked away than people are aware of.Hcoregamer00 said:

Aside from FFXIII, there are no good pure jRPGs even announced for the system. RPGs are the reason I bought the damn thing. If only WKC was coming out this year. Fucking ridiculous.
Sorry about this. Still working out my bitterness about the lack of quality RPGs this gen, especially on the PS3.

While it is better for SquareEnix's pocketbooks, I was just under the impression that it would be exclusive because that is what they would tell us. After hearing interview upon interview stressing how the game is exclusive on the PS3, you just can't help but be a little surprised at this turn of events.
I love my PS3 and I would not trade it for any other console, so I hope that Sony can do something (JRPG-wise) to relieve this shock. Hell, just do the opposite and get the MS RPG lineup and I would be somewhat happier.

Some of you seriously need to step away from the internets because in REAL LIFE this FF announcement isn't going to change anything. If FF13 had switched EXCLUSIVELY to the 360, that would have been a gigaton announcement. You PS3 fans still get your FF13.
I swear the same people cried and crowed when DMC4 was revealed on the Xbox 360...Then it released simultaneously world wide; did that change anything? No. Final Fantasy is a big game, but it's mostly huge in Japan.
That being said, if this genuinely is strictly a "business decision" by Square, I really have to question it. First of all, as we have seen in the past few months, the Playstation 3 is selling well in America. In Europe, it's always been ahead of the game. With the release of MGS4 this past month, I think you're going to see it do numbers that are much better than MGS3 on the PS2. What does that mean? PS3 exclusives sell. The smaller userbase isn't a limitation; hardcore gamers that like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy have already (or are planning to) purchase a Playstation 3. There really shouldn't be much worry at all about the Playstation 3 version of FFXIII having lackluster sales. So if MGS4 isn't having a hard time selling well on the Playstation 3, why is Square so fearful? The PS3 AND the Xbox 360 aren't doing too hot in Japan. IMO, FFXIII would sell well regardless of exclusivity in the west...I don't see the west as the main impedance to high sales. This is why I think the moneyhats were involved here.
If anything, Square needs to worry about their own development process as a company which leaves much to be desired. The Final Fantasy franchise has deteriorated significantly since the Playstation 1 days in terms of its importance. FFX - FFXII lost the magic and luster that FF7-9 provided. And now, all we really have to look forward to from Square are final fantasy titles and spinoffs. They had shitload of quality and diverse software during the PSone days. PS2? Not so much.

For me all I just want a firm date for LBP, Home and Resistance 2. A promising exclusive 08 title or a couple of demos would be nice but I am not holding my breath. I just hope they don't show a bunch of CG for games that aren't coming out in the next year.

Movie Store detailed/opened:
Subscription for movie service offered as alternative to pay-per-movie.
Movie Store has its own icon on the PSN part of the XMB, so you see "Account management," "Playstation Store" and "Video Store"
Prices are standardized for either a regular movie or an HD movie. No variability in pricing like MS Store.
Movie locked to your hard drive. Sony movies availavle on PSP too.
Improves upon MS's "watch it within so many days, automatically delete" DRM. Not exactly sure how it will be different.
Prices are the same as MS Store or $.01 cheaper due to using $$$ vs. points.
