The E3 '08 Sony Prediction and Discussion Thread

But isn't he tight with Jaffe? Could it be a hint at Eat, Sleep, Play's offering. I hate all this waiting :)

Scott Campbell is tight with Jaffe, Jobe did not leave for Eat Sleep Play with Scott Campbell, frankly I'm more interested in what Jobe's team is up to because Eat Sleep Play seems a bit small to work on something more epic even in terms of Warhawk's scale.

I think sony played a bit of strategy. Making sure xbox didn't get FFXIII in Japan due to it's popularity there. It seems FF sell less and less each time until one is as good or better than 6 (to most people. I liked 7 and 8, but never finished 6). They lost their rook (partial multiplatform), but saved their queen (total multiplatform in all areas).

In some cases, that would be considered borderline pyrrhic, if not outright.

Right I've been looking around and this is what I'm upto now on 'to be released' confirmed PS3 exclusives, pretty impressive list so far I reckon, hopefully I can add a couple more on it tomorrow, remember every game on this list is exclusive to PS3, that's 18 titles so far and no doubt I've missed one or two off that list, I know this is nothing new but I'm trying to add some positivity in light of the FFXIII news, Sony are far from doomed guys, we've got a fantastic line up of games coming out over the next year.

Woah, I didn't know that, Now I got a Jaffe, and Jobe project to look forward to. Jobe seems like one of the nicest guys in the industry.

Looks good to me. FFXIII was a huge blow, but was it bigger than the stuff that you listed? I don't think so.

I will happy as long as there is one amazing reveal such as Uncharted 2

oh and hopefully GoW3 but with some actual gameplay, but Im probably asking for too much

I'm amazed that Sony somehow didn't at least go for time exclusive on FFXIII, the game will be finished, but NA/EU doesn't get it until the 360 version is completed to localize it....which apparently they didn't even start on it yet!

That makes 0 sense to me. Why would Square hold the game?

remember Sony doesn't pay for exclusives and I think Sony is confident in there 1st partys as they should.

Iono if Kotaku is right, we might saee it at 2010 :lol when 360 comes out with a new system :lol

Feather.

Warhawk.

Sequel or expansion is my guess.

Because a later port usually don't get the maximum potential sales? Especially in this care, they are porting it BECAUSE they want the 360 western sales.

Shinji Hashimoto(producer) + Tetsuya Nomura(director) = ffv13
Shinji Hashimoto(producer) + Tetsuya Nomura(director) = Kingdom Hearts
Yoshinori Kitase(producer) + Motomu Toriyama (director) = ff13

"Kitase Doesn't Hate Nomura...Just has Seperate Goals:

Kitase and Nomura have worked together on many past Final Fantasy titles and over the years they haven't quite seen eye to eye. In a recent interview with LEVEL, Kitase decided to explain their rivalry.

"Hmm, how am I going to explain this? Let me begin by pointing out that Nomura is designing characters both for FFXIII and FFvXIII and that it's absolutely not a matter of us not being able to work together. But ok, there are differences between us, what we want to accomplish and how we create games. It's not a hostile rivalry, but we don't share the exact same goal. But wouldn't it be boring if that was the case? My view of it is that we're two creative minds who work together sometimes and then move on on different paths, but always meet up again.
When we started to plan for FFXIII, I told Nomura that there were certain ideals that we had to attain. There's a standard we follow when we develop a new mainline FF. Back then, the plan was to develop the game for the PS2 and we decided that Nomura would make FFvXIII for the PS3. With that, he could do something different; that game wouldn't have to follow the traditional FF format. And I've always encouraged him to experiment and try out completely new ideas. He's allowed to take risks; it's almost an end in itself with that project.""

There is Tears to Tiara, which looks like a decent game, but there is NO WAY IN HELL it will ever come out to the United States.

Our puritanical view on sex makes this game impossible to localize and appease multiple markets.

Those are the only other two quality JRPGs out for PS3 in Japan, the others should not even be on the radar. =/

What are "all those bombs" you're talking about? The only one that I saw in that whole conference was FF13.

Specifically the Fallout 3 DLC exclusive to the 360 and FF13 announcement. Perhaps I'm over-reacting out of a bit of ignorance. I'll let the smoke clear a bit before I consider panicking. I know it's premature, but these exclusive DLC only for the 360 is probably the root of my frustration. First GTA IV, now Fallout 3? Again, trying not to be quick to judge without knowing the extent of these DLC, but just the fact that Microsoft are obtaining these exclusives makes me lean towards the 360 when I really don't want to lean at all.

if those 5 arent good enough off the top of our heads what are you expecting. its not like theres a ton of games from other genres either. k well maybe shooters and adventure games but come on.

So Trusty Bell is going to be bad with it's added story content? X Edge? Yakuza (more of an adventure with RPG elements, but hey...)

Don't forget Last Remnant is still coming to PS3. Also, there is a rumored Tales game for PS3.

Why don’t you guys try making a new game instead of wasting resources on this failed game.

Thanks for you comment Zorox

We are proud to be working on continued support for Warhawk, which has been a very successful game for the PSN. Not just for the United States, but for all countries.

Top revenue generator for the Playstation Store in fact. We’re pretty proud of that.

We also tend to think that supporting our fan base is never a waste of our time.

But from my perspective, supporting our fans *and* working on a new game is always a good thing

Hasn't the hype for GTAIV DLC all but fizzled out? I know I sure wouldn't want to subject myself to more of that.

"New for version 4.05:

* New effects have been added to the visual player under Music icon (Music).

My source tells me it will be shown tomorrow, and potentially go active as well.

I'm expecting divx movies, including subs.

i certainly am not looking to touch GTA4 again. i know my friend got 100% completion in oblivion but didnt buy any expansions because he just didnt feel it was worth it. DLC isnt for everyone and shouldnt be too big of a decider.

As a gamer, and one that was all set for FFXIII knowing that I'll have to wait even longer for FFXIII due to this deal sux, but what can I do about it. It's not like I'm missing much now, we hardly know anything about it.

Most likely, SE never even considered it for Japan, considering how 360 software/hardware performs there.

Teh GAF PS3 clan plays GTAIV but some of us haven't even finished the core game yet, I doubt I would buy DLC if it ever comes out, single player was long enough and really wrapped up nicely.

Don't forget Last Remnant is still coming to PS3. Also, there is a rumored Tales game for PS3.

Trusty Bell - an updated port of a RPG that most people loathe
X Edge - dear god no
RGGK - awesome yes, but it aside from Kiryuu leveling up and talking to people, this does not fall into the category, ditto for next year's RGG3
Last Remnant - is delayed due to being timed exclusive on the 360, hell the fact Sony couldn't even get timed exclusive for FFXIII is really sad.
rumoured Tales game - is a rumoured Tales game!

Again, I'm not disappointed that FFXIII is no longer PS3 exclusive, I'm disappointed that SONY is not really there with 3rd party commitment anymore (aside from Hideo, Sega, and Namco's arcade division).

First party games are all nice and dandy and having a strong line up is great, but c'mon, it's obvious that the Playstation brand was built with 3rd parties and the variety of PlayStation comes from the wealth of the third parties.

I don't take the whole there are no more exclusives this gen, that still exists, and it's sad that Sony was pretty serious when they said they don't pay for exclusives, well they did for Haze for somehow, sadly.

Sony Consumer Electronics = Geniuses in how they destroyed HDDead and will destroy DVD
Sony Computer Entertainment = Fucking retarded, see most of everything done so far

Thanks for the extra titles, thats 18 now, looking at that list really helps diminish the pain of FFXIII going multi-platform, theres really nothing to worry about with that line up.
