I really think the next Elder Scrolls is going to do something big with the Thalmor/Aldmeri dominion plot. Has great potential.
It would be awesome if a future Elder Scrolls combined all the locations into one massive game. We can only dream.
Right, now I'm going to tell you a little story. I tried earlier without much success due to image hosting. Here goes.
No spoilers, but about 10 images and a little scenario. It's about a 1/4 of a dungeon that is not part of any major quest. Scroll past if you think you haven't seen it (from the first few pics) and want to be
surprised yourself. To be honest my companion died after the last screenshot so I quit and therefor haven't seen how this unfolds myself.
This is a snippet of my journey of Ihapitie, a level 26 Wood Elf. She specializes in sneak, lock picking, the odd bit of trouser groping and archery. As Ihapitie sneaks down the corridor she
come face to face with a troll from out of nowhere.
She soon makes short work of him as she draws arrow after arrow from her quiver. She reclaims her arrows from the crumpled body and loots a few potions as well for good measure.
Moving on with her companion she approaches a split level room.
The sound of the water dripping from the ceiling is soon broken by the clicking sound of a few Chaurus' in the water below. She drops down without assessing the situation and is suddenly
surround by not two, not three but four Chaurus'. Shes drawing arrow after arrow, strafing and shooting. Critical hit, but there are still three to deal with.
She leaps onto an egg sack
and immediately spins around 180 degree. She's heard the tales of the Matrix passed down through generations, her body is ready. She fires what seems like her 30th arrow. Another Chaurus drops,
one after the other. Finally, as the sweat drips from her chin, she stands victorious.
As she recovers her Orcish Arrows from the carcass and the dozens floating in the water she recollects herself. "That was a bit....... unnerving" says Lydia. "Hmmmph" replies Ihapitie, unimpressed by
her impulsive actions. "This way" she says, gestering towards the corridor ahead. The water carries on, her boots of sneaking aren't much use in this environment and hopes for dry ground soon.
That expectation disappears quite quickly when she enters a larger cavern where the water is much deeper.
She treads carefully, maneuvering around the edge of the cavern, slowly, trying not to cause too many ripples in her wake. The water gets darker towards the center of the room. Already waist height
Ihapities senses are now more alert than ever.
As the pair reach the other side of the room, they move up the slight path on the left. Looking over her shoulder she thinks to herself that next time she just might not be so lucky.
The pair move up and the further up they move, the narrower the walls get. They take a tight left, then almost an immediate right. "I've got a bad feeling about this" says Lydia. Ihapitie places her finger
over her harsh lips, blistering from the cold. "Shhhhhhhh".
They edge ahead slowly, Ihapitie leading,
drawing her bow expecting any second for a Chauru to emerge from any one of the egg sacks. With no room to move in the event of an attack, Ihapitie will be caught between a friend at the rear and a foe
in the front. How many could pop out is anyones guess.
The corridor feels like a mile but the end is in sight. Still aware of the egg sacks behind her, the thought crosses both their minds that they could be both surrounded at any given second. Edging forward the
pathway widens. Lydia leans forward and whispers "I've never seen anything like this". 'Neither have I' thought Ihapitie. There in the water below were atleast three Chaurus.
One draw of her bow and a deep breath Ihapitie focuses. The string cuts into her fingers, she knows shes got to make this one count. Almost like in slow motion she can feel the string slide off the tips and she
fires that arrow with pinpoint accuracy. 3x Critical damage right in the head of the furtherest creature. They're alerted and start scampering to the far side of the room and quickly dart to the right out of sight.
Thinking that this game of cat and mouse could end badly Ihapitie remembers what happened last time when she made a stupid leap of faith. Sure enough, two of the ugliest come back. Without hesitation
she draws another bow, and another and as soon as one drops another appears.
They don't stop. With four dead the fifth skittles back to the right behind cover. For a second they think they're safe, maybe the Chaurus have fled the room. And then the unexpected happens. The mother returns,
towering at over 15 times the size this behemoth creature emerges with her front claws in the air. The first arrow is fired. It pierces through the plates of armour on her neck, dark green blood exploding everywhere.
But wait, that's not from the arrow, it's an incoming projectile!
Is this the end for the Wood Elf and her companion? Is this Chaurus Reaper the Queen or is there a larger creature waiting for them? Have they stumbled into a massive nest frozen for centuries?
Well you'll have to find out if you venture into this dungeon.
