I'm glad Grandpa porked a Chinese Muslim
since I'm an argonian and bethesda seems to think it's perfectly cool for a big tail sticking through the middle of a cloak.

I like how they also forgot to code argonian and khajiit tails to STOP WAGGING when their owner is a corpse.

Grrrrr. First time I've been unable to complete a quest because of a glitch. I picked up the quest item but the objective won't update so its still telling me I need to loot this guy for a briar heart. Going to have to reload a hard save and lose an hours progress.

i had a dragon stuck in his flying animation on top of a mountain. i tried shooting arrows, but he didn't care.

my companion vilkas? got wacked so hard in his sneaking position that he switched to his critical health crouch walk permanently. i dragged him with me half a dungeons before he took another hit, curing him from his lameness.

weird shit is going on.

Weird problem. I did a sneak mission in Rift and had my companion merc wait at the door. I had to bolt out of there after setting the place on fire and left her behind. Now I can't find her and she doesn't show up when I fast travel. My horse does.

It sucks because she had a bunch of loot but it sucks even more because now anytime I try to ask someone else to join me, they say I already have someone following me.

Anyway to fix this?

assassin type characters level slower because stealth killing everything means you're not really in combat much.

I've found it to be the exact opposite, and I haven't really touched tradeskills yet (my thief/assassin dude is lvl 30 ish at about 35 hours). The reason being with this playstyle I'm lvling sneak/1h weapons/archery/lockpicking/light armor all at the same time constantly with things like speech and pickpocketing (ok my pickpocketing is still in the teens or 20's /shame) on the side. I'm leveling this guy far faster than my 2h weapon warrior guy that have 10 more hours of play into yet is only lvl 26.

My warrior is more in line with your comment above as I'm primarily only getting 2h weapon and heavy armor skill ups.

Doesn't cover your face if you're a Dark Elf either... bullshit.

I was wondering why it was just a hood, well that's pretty fucking disappointing :(, although I'd much rather keep my current helm on anyway.

Can someone explain how finishers work again? I unlocked the one-handed weapon perk that allows decaps but no luck so far. Does the blow have to be a power strike or can I just mash the attack button?

Seems to be random from what I've seen. I thought standing power attack finishers would trigger it more, but no luck.

I believe it's 25% of power strikes have a chance of decapitating opponents.

Yeah when I played as an archer/sneak/lockpick/pickpocket/light armor/speech guy I leveled up pretty quickly because all those skills leveled quickly. Archery went the slowest though, likely because of all the 1-2 shot kills. When I had all those other skills in the 90s my Archery was only like 70.

I leveled faster as a Warrior but only because of the blacksmith exploit.

I don't know everything about decapitation, but I can guarantee you that you get 0 decapitation if you wield a dagger+sword combo. Not a single decapitation in my 50 hours of play, but I have had plenty when I unequipped my left dagger and only swung a sword in my right hand. I think it's probably because of a mismatched combo, I've heard that dual swords (non-daggers) have cool decapitations.

Made some Dragon Armor and refined it with a set of gear teared towards maximizing smithing and a potion of fortify smith. With the full set of Dragonplate Armor on I hit around 2100 Armor. Huhauhauha. I love breaking Elder Scroll games. My Dragonbane is at 500 damage per hit too with the all my One-Handed augmenting gear in place. I also enchanted the Dragonplate gear with 54% protection against Frost and Shock and 24% against Magic.

It seems to me that if I use a power attack on the last, last, enemy I always get a finisher. Two-handed usually brings me a decap too.

ok, where are the good magics and summons?

I find always, always the same books from merchants, even in the academy they have the same books.
what the fuck?

Huh, so apparently Hadvar has a lot of things to say while you're walking to Riverwood, including a conversation about dragons with Alvor. First playthrough I seperated from Hadvar because that's what he suggested. I'm not doing the main quest with my Dark Elf, but I did like seeing that. :lol

Dragon story time.

This was one of those events that depended on a host of independent factors coming together. All of which conspired to totally screw me.

Just before embarking on my journey to my first three Dark Brotherhood hits, I was given a contract to kill a giant. I do so, sniping the poor guy from long range. Three 3x snipe shots later, he's down and I'm on my way. This will become important later.

Contracts complete, I'm trekking from Winterhold to Whiterun on horseback (the one that miraculously survived being the pin in a game of dragon bowling), when I stop to liberate a Stormcloak soldier from his Imperial scum escorts. That done, I give him one of their swords, loot the rest of the bodies, mount up and head back down the road.

I round the corner and find the same soldier fighting a snow saber cat - a death sentence for a lone soldier with no armor. I hop off and lend a hand, but he falls anyways. Why wasn't he using the sword I gave him? At least he died fighting, not with his hands tied.

And then I...where the hell is my horse? She ran off again. I'm about 1/3 to Whiterun, and have crazy stamina, so I take to sprinting along the path. (I don't fast travel; the journey is half the fun.) After a ways I see what looks like a shortcut over a tall, snowy bluff, and head up. I reach the top just as I see the shadow pass over me, and the fearsome dragon battle music kicks in. Perfect timing too - my stamina had just run out, and I had no stamina potions. I was stuck there.

This frost dragon was no joke - it kicked my ass up and down the hill. After a half dozen deaths, I decided to try a different tactic, and rope something else into the battle. I used the sprint shout to move further up the hill. As I round the top, I find a large coffin, out of which pops a named lich (usually bad news). Yay! I thought. Now they can duke it out.

Only it turns out that lichs and frost dragons are best buddies. The dragon lands right next to it, and then I've got both fireballs and ice blasts hurtling my way. Out of the frying pan....

Okay, plan C. I want to get back down off this bluff where the trees can provide some cover - this place has gotten too hot (and cold) to handle. Of course, I still can't sprint, as my stamina is drained. Either way I had to get off the bluff - I was a sitting duck out there.

I use Become Etherial to survive the ice blasts, and head down the far side of the bluff. A giant/mammoth camp marker comes into view - one I've found previously. Problem is, it's at the bottom of a cliff with no path down. A few deaths later, a plan takes shape: use Become Etherial, jump off the cliff and into the camp and let the giants and dragon duke it out, managing the battle from a distance.

I leap from the top of the cliff, become a ghost, and land safely....right next to the corpse of the giant I slew the day before. Ack! Karma!

Taking an ice blast to the back, I run over to the mammoth for shelter. The mammoth doesn't take to that and kills me with one blow.

Reload.

Same strategy, only I run into the alcove, away from the mammoth, keeping distance from it but placing it between myself and the dragon. With the woods around me, it's much safer, and even through the frost dragon has landed, he doesn't have a clear shot at me.

And that's when two frost trolls showed up and started duking it out with the dragon. I think they must be resistant to frost, since the dragon barely made a dent in them. But that was still enough for me to snipe the dragon repeatedly with my best arrows, using trees for cover when he did turn on me. The dragon fell.

I was so happy absorbing the soul that I didn't notice the frost trolls attack, and they nearly killed me. I thought we were in this together!

So, yeah. SKYRIM.

Just found a few weird named items in Calypso's (or whatever) shack in Windhelm. They're not quest items, and the guy in the Theives guild doesn't take them, either:

Dancer's
Flute
Ysgramor's
Spoon

Also, where do you get the key for that guy's chest? Haven't seen anyone with that name in the city.

Epic story time.

Well, they call 'em Dragon Priests for a reason. :lol

Those are "relics". The owner of the house collects them. They're just for show, I think. If you hadn't stolen 'em, he could've given you a tour around his "museum" and give a bit of backstory on 'em.

"This was Ysgramor's spoon. As you can see, though, it's a fork. Now I hear you thinking, "But Calixto, you can't eat soup with a fork!" Well, my friend, you clearly didn't know Ysgramor."

Owners of shops/establishments almost always follow you around to prevent stealing.

Ahhh.

Well I managed to kill Nazeem before he got to me. His wife wasn't happy. I was going to kill her but thought her being a widow would be worse.

So it seems that i can use the investment perk on merchants for an unlimited number of times on the alchemist of Solitude while i can only do that once on everyone else. That old woman is 4x richer than every other merchants now. :lol

What am i supposed to do with all that gold anyway? I got over 100k now. Maybe i should just stop looting all those damn weapons and armor.

Nice. Yea I just noticed a ring for sale (1750g) that increases bow damage by 25%. I was trying to save money, but I had to pick that up when I seen it. Anyways it seems like the same vendors will change their gear after a bit so If you see an item you really like, theres a good chance it could be gone if you wait a while. From my experience that is.

Thinking about make a new character as I'm getting a little bored of Magic, obviously will still play both characters.

Considering going assassin/bard illusion+sneak+archery/onehanded.

Yeah, gotta grab those enchanted gear while you can. I'm still looking for something with Muffle. No luck after 25 hours.

I'm going with a Dunmer Assassin/Thief now, after having retired my Nord Sword/Shield Warrior. Specialize in Sneak, Achery, Lockpicking and One-Handed and Pickpocket, with some Alchemy and Conuration for shits and giggles.

Tried dual-wielding today, but I don't see the point of it. I'd much rather be able to block attacks. Once I'm done with this character I'll probably roll a Battlemage for the Mages Guild and the Companions.

Might want to keep sword and shield in mind. Shield Runner lets you sneak at full running speed.
