I'm starting to get that feeling I get in Bethesda games when I get too powerful and too high level, I lose my sense of exploration and purpose. Like I'm level 44 and 64 hours in, I have over 100k gold, I have pretty much everything I need in loot and since the shit scales I have no purpose to explore to find more. My thief skills are all 90-100 so what's the point of leveling any further other than to get the achievement.

I still have plenty of quests but when there's no real meaningful reward it's hard to find the motivation to do them.

This is indeed the bane of most open-world RPGs, including Bethesda games.

Beginning is tense, exciting exploration but the middle onwards, you just slaughter everything in sight like a living god. Which turns out not to be as much fun as being weak in a dangerous world.

Yeah, I'm 75 hours in and level 43 and I know how you feel. Still have plenty left to do, lots left to see. There are areas of my map that are completely unexplored so I've been traveling on foot around and collecting alchemy ingredients. I still want to do some more things but I think I'll be more relaxed about it now, no more fast traveling, just enjoy the world.

But, I'd say that 64 hours or 75 hours is a hell of a lot of game. If it takes that long before you start to feel a bit bored with the game, they've succeeded. How many other games could have done that? The last game I played was Deus Ex: HR which I put 20 hours into and didn't have half as much fun as I am with Skyrim. Never even finished that one.

Something happened today. I suddenly noticed that with an EXTREME amount of quest piling on top of quest, about ten new quest accumulates when doing one I became a bit stressed, and I ended up doing everything in a hurry not really caring about what I was doing and what the characters were saying. And the game of course became a bit stale.. But just by noticing this, and lowering my shoulders (And my wife out of town), taking in everything and "caring" about the quest and the characters, I appreciate the game a lot more. Well, it's a no brainer, but sometimes easy to forget..

Anyway, one of the few gripes I have with the game is that the loading in and out of towns and houses.., I really REALLY hope next generation can technically overcome that kind of thing, because it's just a bit too much of it IMO.

Hah, managed to get my horse pretty well submerged and took a run for a while underneath the sea up north. Not much use of it, interestingly the horse never runs out of breath.

Took an awful (awful) quality video. Didn't catch the act of, but you pretty much just squeeze him under some glaciers and you're good to go.

My apartment has a weird setup where the landlord pays for Wifi and all three units share the same connection, but no one has any wired access. Thus, I can't log on to Live with my 360 (which isn't wireless-enabled).

Just picked up Skyrim for 360. Is it worth playing until I can download the patches? Is it possible to download the patches and transfer to a USB, a la the system updates?

I don't know it's happening quicker to me in Skyrim than the other games. I was able to get 100 hours into my first morrowind, oblivion and fallout 3 game before I got that feeling. I think I'm more aware of the gameplay problems in Skyrim though, that's probably the best explanation for why I feel so meh. I know this time that I'm likely not going to find any better loot, I didn't know that in Oblivion. Ignorance really is bliss.

Detect life + nightime + archery = awesome

Of course I was a little overzealous and apparently killed some guards cause when I got into town I was nailed with a 1200 gold fine o_O

Thought they were bandits, was pretty funny I would zero in on them with detect life and one shot, the panic as they were speaking to each other was great

It's possible, yes, but not elegant.

I like the part where a shopkeeper's wares are actually on display this time; if you steal something, you can't purchase it anymore, and vice-versa. Totally found this out by accident and I am excited.

What the hell is with the mage trainers? Sometimes they have spell tomes to sell, sometimes they only have low level ones. I'm level 70 alteration and I can' get tolfdir to sell me any tomes.

I finished the Proving Honor quest in the Companions line, but I can't figure out how to trigger or find the next quest. I talk to Vilkas and he says I'm already on a job from Skorj, but I don't have anything in my quest log from him.

Can anyone help me out?

I'm level 30 which is pretty good but there are still tough fights especially if shit goes down unexpected. If I didn't have these two staffs I would level up more before returning to them.

Main quest finished. Loved the ending.

One thing, though...
Killing Alduin was, all in all, rather easy. On the one hand, I can see this as the culmination of my character's development in the game: a good ten levels ago he slaughtered me several times atop the Throat of the World. On the other hand, I wish the World Eater would've put up more of a fight.

You haven't reached a truly epic realization of this kind until you play Morrowind and realize that you can put items into the shopkeepers inventory. No reason to do this, but still awesome

I'm having a good time mixing time between my level 29 2h warrior style character, and my level 7 dual-wielding assassin chick.

This game really eats up the hours for me.

Did you like it? is the plot interesting/not generic much? Comparing to Obsidian games? I'm currently doing the first escort mission, so I don't think I'm far enough.

The plot's awesome for a Bethesda game. It might be a bit generic, but all in all, I really enjoyed it.

This is getting ridiculous. Does anyone know where to get Ebony ore/ingots? I've honestly found one mine that had some. Merchants don't sell any and the other mine that's supposed to have some (Redbelly) is empty. WTF.

Both smiths in Whiterun sell 'em.

quest spoiler
You need to have the quest accepted in Riften first. Go to the priest in the temple of Mara, you can ask him about the marriage.

minor further quest spoiler
You then get the info that you need an amulet of Mara, and some woman and man will talk to you about marriage if they are one of the npc's able to marry

Beware: Some NPC's, such as
Lydia
are bugged for the console versions.

Character Spoiler:
List of all the npc's available for marriage, also mentioning which ones are bugged: elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Marriage

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I got to the stage where I was so stressed by the number of quests piling up that I had my laptop up alongside me with a list of all quests, categorised by location and attachment (guild, main quest, civil war, side quest, etc.) and powered through 6 or so in a very short space of time, but it didn't feel rewarding or interesting at all.

So, fuck it, I'll let them build up and tackle them as and when I feel like it. Today, after getting the idea on Reddit, I made that dick in Whiterun who suggests I never go into the Cloud District attack the guards in a frenzy. I cast soul trap on him so that, when he died, I had his soul. I enchanted it to a ring and dropped it into the Skyforge. That'll teach that cunt.

yeah it kinda nosedives if you get too powerful, level 49 with almost maxed thief skills. the game is stepping it up a bit with ancient dragons appearing a lot more often, and i've still got the main quest to do this time round, the college, civil war, daedric quests, greybeards, blades, bards and temple extras as well.

if it starts getting too easy i might max the difficulty

Is paying the guards the only way to get rid of a fine or is there an underhanded way to do like like with the thieves guild in the older games?

Also, I wanted to just get locked up in jail and escape instead of paying it, so I tried that. But I seemed to have completely lost all my quest items in doing so.

What the hell? I have 3 reanimate thralls (why is this even applied to me) and I don't even have one with me right now D:

At least I can wait it off and let it expire. Only 23973 hours to go

No wonder people keep telling me to douse my magic :|

I feel like I am never going to get back to the main quest. Just so much to see and do, and I want to do it all. Makes me realize how much I have indeed missed The Elder Scrolls over the past few years. No other series sucks me in and makes me obsess over wanting to do everything like this one does.

Just thinking of what I want to do today and I have decided I am going to swim out and explore some of those little islands out in the Sea of Ghosts. I noticed on my map that came with the guide that there are locations way out there as well. No telling what else.

Dragons landing on houses is hilarious and awesome.

I like Dark Souls more than this game, but it somehow has way better dragon fights.

Ritual Stone is so OP. Killed
Olaf
of the Bard College questline with 8~ minions. Sniped all of those guys before triggering their spawning. Was so easy, but amusing.

Speaking of which, I am getting a little tired of Drauger. Especially since I can one-shot kill the weak ones while they are laying down.

Due to a HDD crash I can't play the PC version of Skyrim until I can get a recovery disc.

So I'm going to Redbox the 360 version. Is the texture issue fixed? Should I install or not?
