The Falcon and The Winter Soldier |OT| Cap's Best Friends

God, please stop watching if themes related to race are going to annoy you.

I enjoyed the ep, fun to see Sam and Buck interact. I like how they are characterising John Walker as well, he comes across as a genuinely nice guy and I feel sorry for him with Sam and Buck hating on him, it's undeserved.

I'm really curious about where these super soldiers are coming from. I hope we learn more about Isiah and what he has lived through.
Action scene on the truck was cool and I felt scared for John Walker and his buddy.

Great episode, can't believe the cancel culture snowflakes in this thread crying about racism themes - how do these people enjoy any aspect of life?

I think this show is going places, I always thought Falcon was super likeable but uninteresting while Bucky was the opposite - it will be good to have them both more fleshed out. I mean, Wandavision made me like Vision - VISION FOR GOD'S SAKE!

Never said themes related to race annoy me, just when they are done lazily and can be reduced to "white man bad" or " everything is racist" like that bank scene.

But that didn't happen though. They adapted a certain character directly from the comics and his story is almost exacy the same and based on experiments that were done on African Americans in real life. And even then the show doesn't rag on Bucky for it, but they make you feel sympathy for BOTH of them.

I am absolutely loving all the comic references and cameras we are getting, its really making the MCU into a thriving and lived in universe that will last for many years to come. This eosiode was like watching a comic book come to life.

That's good news, means I'll continue watching it, appreciate the actual response too.

The stupid 'cop racist' woke bs took me out of the experience, there was really no need to use that, they could've just had the cops ride up and say "ooh it's the falcon" and find out bucky had an arrest warrant. It made me roll my eyes into my skull. For the rest the show was great once again. Much better than wandavision already.
Well that doesn't sound promising, sounds as deep as a puddle. Ironically it helps purpetuate the notion that all cops (guessing it was a white cop) are racist, while asking the audience to see black people as more than just their skin color.

Normalising racism should never be OK.
I agree about your comments on John Walker, although can kind of see Bucky’s side of it since he’s still messed up.

Falcon: You calling me black falcon just because I'm black? they don't call you black kid

5 minutes later

Falcon: You telling me they had a black super soldier 50 years ago?

Show is nowhere near as well written as Wandavision, the US military getting the super syrum designed for Captain America stolen then captain trying to get it back (for himself) in some "is America bad?" twist is so fucking obvious they should just release the whole season now and be done with it.

I dug this episode even more than the first one. The pacing is just right. I enjoyed seeing the main characters get their asses beat. I'm already sold on John Walker and Isaiah.

Right after Isaiah Called out Bucky on his white super soldier privilege, evil racist cops (is there any other kind?) tried to kill Falcon.
The show is boring as fuck. And they keep pushing this woke race bullshit. I'm out.

I haven't seen the episode yet, but hearing stuff like Bucky getting called out for white super soldier privilege is killing all my hype

Bank scene in epsiode one was fine. It works well both as a commentary on race and veterans but also how difficult it can be to get on your feet after having a blank in your life as well. It also ties into Sam's story about living in Cap's shadow and trying to find his own way. It's layered well and can be read a few different ways which is nice. The police scene in episode 2 is a little more heavy-handed and comes along with a bunch of little things that add up to be a little wonky There's also something in that sequence of events that's cool if you know the comic lore but can feel odd if you're not. I had a slight chuckle at how it ended and lead to the next scene though.

I really dug that they included Isaiah Bradley in this and it's pretty much entirely the same story as from the comics though Bucky knew who he was and not Falcon. It ties in well to the this new storyline as well.

Overall, I'm digging it.

Yeah, I didn’t like the sudden switch-up from best buds to never wanting to work together again, that felt like it came out of nowhere.

The snowflakes in this thread so desperate to be oppressed and offended they are grasping at any straws they can find to cry as usual, I don't get it. What has happened to the world?
Nah, just expect better story from shows I'm paying for, and you should too, don't settle for lazy racist stereotypes in your paid content.

The snowflakes are offended because the snowflakes are offended. Snowflake inception.

I decided I am gonna skip this for now thanks to their comments.

I'm glad they saved me the time.

And it is no more whiny than mcu fans whining about christian symbolism in the DCEU, namely MoS and BVS.

I remember liking Luke Cage and it's take on racial injustice, but it's been a while, so perhaps I'm seeing it with rose colored glasses and it was as shallow as this shows been in the last 2 episodes

This show is more like the Netflix Marvel shows which isn’t a good thing

Definitely a noticeable difference from WandaVision

I find the show to be good. Started off better than Wondavision. Action scenes are a lot better, especially the fight scene on the truck. I got hyped when U.S agent popped up out the helicopter. The quality of these Marvel shows on Disney+ is movie quality hands down. The CGI on buckys arm in the flashback from EP 1 looked kind of sus but other then that its been good.

As for the "racism" scene, where the cop asked for falcons ID, that is 100 percent real shit that happens regularly. How is that political? Should we pretend it doesnt happen? Ive had police stop me to ID me for no reason, Ive even had police pull guns out on me, put me on the ground in the rain, pick me up by my belt and rip my jeans. Have me sit on a curb for an hour over mistaken identification at a dinner WORK EVENT and then send me on my way. No charges or anything.

Stop this bullshit, seriously. Ive been riding with the conservatives for the past 4 years but yall are coming across like the liberals and its whiny and bitch made.

It was such a small part of the episode. You guys really do get triggered by this stuff, eh?

Because its so forced and contrived, it pulled me right out of the show which i generally really enjoy, its got great action and good interpersonal humour and teamship.

It says a lot that the moment i saw the out of focus cop car in the background i knew exactly what they were gonna do...and it happened scene for scene the way i knew it would. Thats not good writing...that means some danger hair was in the writing room, and he made sure to tell every one how we have to include this random ..non developed or related scene.

At this point its parody in real life.....for it to happen in such a lazy ridiculous way in a world that now faces alien invasions, super soldiers , wizards and gods made real..its fucking absolutely ridiculous..no one gives a shit about race.

Bucky literally clarifies later in the episode that he was talking about Hydra, not his race. Dude its really not that serious lol

This is edging on paranoia at this point

I don't understand why the 'one world one people' is the worst thing since sliced bread to people in the show.

Surely coming together after the blip is a good thing.

Aren’t they wanting to put things back to how things were during the blip? Billions gone.

That was my understanding, quite possibly wrong though and not sure how they plan to wipe out so many.

It's not about wiping them out. It's the power structure. Nation and nation helping each other. Sharing resources. The previous power structure wasn't about that and they're restoring it to how it was before (The GRB or whatever).

If you can predict something that = bad writing? I don't think so.

They have trucks full of vaccine that they’re taking to their people for a reason.

Disney has too much good will built up so it would be premature to be too negative on it. The racial stuff hasn't been too terrible they could have easily been alot worse and shameless with it. I liked the "Black" Falcon scene it's very much inline with Anthony Mackie who is much more nuanced and thoughtful off camera.

The weakness of the show to me is just the interpersonal relationships between Falcon, Bucky, Fake Captain. It feels contrived and unearned that they would hate each other so much.

Sam and Bucky's uneasy alliance is on brand. Remember how they were in Civil War? They were never best friends. But they're both Steve's best friends. Steve even took after Sam with his group therapy sessions in Endgame.

And I like how both of them got mad at Walker... Especially when Sam got mad for BOTH of them when Walker called them "wingmen". They were EQUALS. Not sidekicks. Steve never saw either of them as less than. They were EQUALS

The problem was the uneasiness came later, they should have opened with that interview and did the truck scene later since they seemed fine working together at the beginning.

Remember the german dude called her Robin Hood. He said every day people are joining their cause.

That doesn't play as someone who wants to take out half the population.

Remember the trigger warning they added to the show on Disney+? Then there's an episode where the villains are stealing truck fulls of vaccines?

You probably also noticed how uncomfortable it made all of them when the guy who setup the safehouse talked about it. That looked like guilt to me, not modesty, but maybe I'm giving the writers/actors too much credit.

I had a feeling that a 68 second cop scene would trigger some of you but to get you to stop watching the entire show over it? This is how you're looking right now:

That's more acting than memorizing lines. I have to watch it again and pay attention to that scene more.

Really enjoyed the second episode. Didn't have a problem with the "woke" stuff, it was well handled I think. The first episode felt more heavy-handed to me, with the preachy sister and her stupid boat. Wyatt Russell was great, and man, Sebastian Stan was killing it in that therapy scene. That moment when he snaps, the pain and anger in his face... Felt so real.
