The racing star has been working on material at a west London studio but he has no plans to release the R & B album commercially.
Hamilton, a huge music fan, wanted to record the album for himself and hired the state-of-the-art facilities - previously used by such stars as Robbie Williams and Kylie Monogue - to realise his ambition.
According to The Sun, a source aid: "Not many people know Lewis has been making music in his spare time. He's really into his R&B and has been cutting lots of songs that fit in with his taste. At the moment he's fully focused on F1 so it's unlikely any of the tracks will be made public. But he's had good feedback from the few people who have heard them."
Lewis has rented the entire studio complex to ensure his privacy.
Hamilton is not the first F1 to try his hand at songwriting. Another former world champion, Jacques Villeneuve, released an album in 2007 called Private Paradise. Unfortunately it crashed and burned.
