Sky commentators nailed it re: Ferrari. They're really poor at reacting to the flow of the race when it matters, no improvisation. Just sticking to their plan for better or worse... it's clear they intended to 2-stop both cars all along now.
Perhaps Mercedes forced their hand with Vettel's first relatively early stop and that's biting them now.

Taking a huge gamble on Lewis not being able to pass Vettel at the end, or even before the 2nd stop. Putting everything on track position.

It seemed like there was something stuck under the front wing when he drove off. Or did I see that incorrectly?
I think it was just some minor damage to the nose from hitting the jack so hard.

LOL if Lewis does not pit. Why should he? Tyres are holding up pretty well on the Mercedes.
They wont last for 18 laps.. it is just question if they will use medium or hards again - probably latter, because they are in their own league on hards.

He'll be fucked with about 10 laps to go, Rosberg will eat him alive.
Lewis pretty much has Vettel covered if he keeps his current pace up now, just needs to get a move on to challenge Rosberg. Expecting a stop sooner rather than later.
And he still managed to lift the car. He deserves a medal.
Yeah, I should have included the "must get the car up" bit at the end, but GIFs quickly explode in size.

I think Vettel's actually been on the back foot strategy-wise since having to cover off Hamilton in the first round of stops.
They are close on softer compound, but on hard ones is Mercedes unstoppable.

Because he needs to get new tyres on NOW to close that gap.
There is no way he could have hung on with those mediums for 15 more laps.

He won't be able to close out 20 seconds in 13 laps... track position is so much more valuable.
Pirellis still drop off quickly, right?
Rosberg would have had no issue taking 2 seconds in 15 laps though. His lap 50 was ~half a second quicker.
