Who can possibly say this game isn't a looker?
Just left for Seattle after Joel's murder, and in the forest riding with Dina. Wow. :pie_open_mouth:
Also,
walking through Joel's house after his death
was actually moving.

You know what's crazy? I've got my air conditioners set to 66 degrees Fahrenheit, but my PS4 Pro's fan is still loud. With any other game, the console would be quiet under these conditions. Damn.

So... Enemy tension seems to be gone? Joel got one stealth kill tutorial prompt against a clicker in a building, then thrust into a firefight at the docks if I recall.

I've just spent 5 mins climbing/jumping around on rocks, squeezing through rock walls, and literally zig-zagging my way behind Runners stealth killing them. I feel like James Woods in Family Guy. "ooo a piece of candy!" every two seconds with these stealth kills.

New movement mechanics seem fine, nicely fitted-into the TLOU formula instead of it feeling like TLOU movement has given way to Uncharted or COD or something. But the enemy placement/intelligence and story pacing is proper fucked.

hopefully bring it over via patch, any game I get i go straight to the menue to turn off any processing effects such as motion blur, from grain etc. They ruin the visuals

I'm exactly the same. Its deliberately been left out though. It makes the picture look worse and a bit soft.

Only played the first 20 minutes though. It's going to be an amazing game but I think Uncharted 4 and LL may have it beat in terms of technical presentation.

Played yesterday for like 3 hours, not bad, but not a 10 game.

I'll start saying that i'm against all that SWJ forced trash, with that in mind the lesbo scene with Ellie is ok, i even liked it. The scene with Joel? I felt nothing. Died in the worst way possible, after all what he done in the first chapter, survived with a hole in the chest, used avoid antibiotics, and die in this way? Litteraly a wasted opportunity. Died as a NPC.
About Abby, yeah, what's the probabilty that in a apocaliptic world, the main character is in a lesbo relationship and the antagonist is in the same stuff too? (maybe it's trans who knows) ? Mah.

Yup. Immersive as hell and MAN at those gunshots. They really convey the power of firearms, as the first did, but even better here. One of the main reasons TLoU is one of my favorite games is due to the sound. So many developers skimp on it.
Fuck it I will buy the game. I want to hear those awesome gun shots.

Holy shit when you push r2 button to zoom in ellie’ll squint her eyes too.
I thought the opening hour was pretty weak tbh. The first game left such a lasting impression with an impactful intro sequence whereas part 2 kinda just has you trotting along through some limp-dick snowball fighting and relationship talk.

I´m pretty invested now that I got to the meat and potatoes of the story but it really felt like the game was dragging its feet to get there.
Different pacing?

I haven’t looked through it properly because I didn’t want to change anything but I’m pretty sure the post processing effects can be adjusted in the accessibility options. It’s pretty comprehensive. Motion blur is definitely there.

Not going to play this for another week or so. The only thing I want to hear is that it’s not preaching to me. The rest if in context, no problem.

Basically this. I've no problem with her calling someone a bigot. So long as they actually are deserving of that criticism.

Yeah motion blur can be turned off (that's good) but grain can't. I think that added with the image been softer than the original on the PS4 it leaves a very slightly negative impression (that will soon be forgotten about when the game starts proper).

I can already imagine how good a PS5 release will be at close to native 4k, with fingers crossed grain turned off.

Had my first combat encounter with humans.

Man, the combat in this is fucking BRUTAL. So was the first, but they did a phenomenal job of making it feel much more personal and intimate here. Calling out names, shouting directions, co-operating, reacting to the death of their friends, and great tense music in compliment. I love their death throes and suffering. I'm not going to be able to go back to the first game after this, and I'm beginning to understand why they're calling this misery porn.

Incredible stuff. I hope the action starts picking up a bit as Seattle was a somewhat of a drag and is creating some pacing issues. This game's a very slow burn at the start.

Just installing my copy now. Wasn't expecting it come on time seeing as how delayed the UK post is at the moment.

I have to say, as excited as I am, I'm struggling to think of a game with worse cover art. Ugly as hell.

My PS4 Pro now sounds like a jet engine after years of being quiet. :messenger_weary:

Mine was always loud and this game definitely has the the fans going full blast. As usual it’s not too noticeable while playing with headphones, but very loud when I take them off to hit the head or whatever.

A couple of hours in.... Damn :messenger_frowning_

This is funny but also true on both levels. My Pro is doing its usual best impression of a plane engine but the sound design in the game is also a huge step up. The Clickers sound genuinely scary,
are you kidding? this shit is gonna be nuts while stoned🤩

fuuuuck i still have to wait 6-7 hours to play the game :messenger_loudly_crying:

Loving it now.

Dislike all the post effects though like grain, depth of field on zoom etc. I can literally see more detail on the characters zoomed out than in.

When you first leave Ellies room did anyone find it weird theres a couple just staring at each other but not talking? When ever the detail is so good, little things that would pass in other games stand out.

Back into it! 😁

There's something very enjoyable about the game, the atmosphere is nailed perfectly. Even though the writing is the crap that it is & the AI is from at least 20 years ago, it's a testament to how good everything else is that the game still feels worth playing despite all the nonsense.

What strikes me about Ellie tho is that it's really a male character in all her mannerism and attitude with only the outward appearance of a girl (kinda). Obviously ND's religion would never allow them to make her a him, so it's Ellie instead.

It's really too bad they got infected with the mind virus, this could have been a great game.

First impression a couple hours in (first major plot point/spoiler):

yeah the bigot comment was kinda cringe but I also got the impression Ellie isn’t necessarily going to be totally likable or relatable, like when she was non-accepting of the apology and sandwiches. Pretty obnoxious teenager stuff but she’s always had that side to her.

One thing that felt out of place was Joel and Tommy’s seeming naivety. They’ve hinted at them having done some really bad stuff in the past, and they’re always super paranoid, but they meet this random girl, follow her back to her camp (out of necessity sure) but just give them all their names and tell them about their settlement and invite them in, just like that? And don’t see that ambush coming at all? Seemed a bit out of place.

The worst part about Joel’s death was how unceremonious it was. Didn’t go out in some blaze of glory or making a sacrifice to buy time, just a golf club to the head after his leg got blown half off. Poor guy.

Welp time to make breakfast for the fam and start a morning play session

So by the same token camp males should never star in a game they should just replace with a women?

Only 2 of the last 7 games have had female main characters... yet it's a problem?

Sure forced inclusivity where it doesn't make sense is bad but only just as bad as those that see it everywhere.

So a copy got posted through my front door. I thought I had cancelled my pre-order, but I'd actually ordered another copy, many moons ago, which I'd forgotten about.

Naughty Dog 1 Ogbert 0.

Played for about three hours now. It looks astonishing. The writing is trash.

That said, I don't care about the politics. The story is so naff and melodramatic, you'd have to be a barely functioning cretin to take it seriously. It's the gameplay. How can there be an entire legion of video journalists with barely any (save Skill Up) actually talking about the fundamental mechanics and how tired they are. It still feels like a PS3 era game.

For the record, I think Rockstar should be called out in exactly the same way.

Dunno why they changed Abby's face from the Paris Games Show trailer. She actually looked like a woman there, right now she looks like that Dark Souls II "To walk this earth" meme.

It´s not enough to state that you don´t enjoy the story. You really had to call everyone who enjoys it a barely functioning cretin? Come on my dude... You can do better :)

My pro sounds like a jet engine on several games, this game might be the nail in the coffin. C'mon buddy, just need you to make it through this and Ghost of Tsushima!

Cyberpunk being pushed back just means that I'll play it on a shiny new ps5 or Xsx.
