'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

Today I saw someone playing it at Video games story (a vg exhibition in Paris). It looked decent, clean image but nothing more. Don't expect something totally different from the ps3 version. The framerate looked 30ish to me.

Best way to tell if it was the PS4 version would be the frame rate. Was it 60? Or
hovering around there? If so then it was likely a build of the remaster.

I doubt ND is even done with the game, let alone spending resources to make a build for some store in Europe that makes the remastering look like shit.

Let's just wait til it's gone gold or a video is released.

Sorry, don't believe you.

From all the tweets we have been seeing the game is running at 60FPS, not "30ish". Also are you on vacation or something?

All indications show that it's been only recently that ND devs themselves actually got to play a PS4 build of TLoU Remastered internally.

And if they really had a build ready-for-public... why the heck wasn't it at E3?

I'll also call BS on it, or at least question it. I just looked up Video Game Story and it seems to run from 6/30-9/7. I guess it could be open early or something, but everywhere I see to buy tickets has those dates.

early access via Vente-privée:

le site vente-privee.com propose, ce 28 avril, des billets pour assister au salon les 28 et 29 juin 2014, soit avant l’ouverture au grand public prévue pour le 30 juin.

So, you go to place where there is a Demo of a game no one has seen and you don't take a picture or a make a video of it? If this is true you failed NeoGAF, it's 2014 you can make a video with anything. Also, there is no way its 30fps unless ND is insane.

It won't draw more than 60fps though. The PS4 can only output 60, if you're drawing beyond that, you'll get screentearing, which is hideous. What I imagine she means is they were optimizing for a sub-16ms pipeline so more demanding frames are still less likely to miss their budget.

I wonder what framerate Project Morpheus will want? Maybe this is the start of more focus on framerate from Sony first party to help with Morpheus compatibility?

Well you are very lucky then to have seen it. I am guessing if that really was the Remastered version we will hear about it from the media soon (6/30 soon).

I'm sure he's not lying, but I'm also sure he's wrong.

Pretty much. Given what we've heard from naughty dog and how they're just now playing builds (and the ridiculous amount of 60fps teasing), it's almost certainly PS Now or upscaled and being cleaned up on a HDTV with nice processing.

It's an interesting thought. Morpheus currently has a 120Hz display, but the input is 60, the break out box has motion interpolation.

I hadn't even thought about that, Morpheus games can look like UC4 yeah, holy shit.

You have failed me for the last time, Admiral Djin1979. Captain Freeman?

Make ready to land our video recorders beyond the Video Game Story entrance, and deploy the video recorders so that no footage gets lost. You are in command now, Admiral Freeman.

To be honest with you, this remake never interested me in the first place, so i didn't spend much time on the TLoU kiosk, I was more interested in the Oculus demo.

About the framerate, it seemed to run around 30fps..or a non stble 60 fps

I'll keep my expectation in check. A simple 1080p@60fps already fulfil my wishes, anything more than that is gravy.

Multiplayer in 60fps with streaming and party will be great.

As a achievement hunter, is the platinum trophy of this game "obtainable"?

I really want to play it again, but the last time I've played it on PS3, I couldn't unlock anything. :(

The game hasn't gone gold yet so you can be pretty sure it wasn't a final build.
Nothing about that story makes sense.

It's true the game isn't done. But if it was getting it's debut, they'd be using a basically finished build, not one from however long ago the game was running at 30, and with all the ND tweets about it being 60, there's no way it's shipping at anything close to 30.

What exactly are looking for? It will look like The Last of Us but at 1080p and targeting 60 fps.

It's not like YouTube doesn't have 20 playthroughs of that game.

Apparently there are 'improvements'. I just want to see a 60FPS gameplay video to showcase this. Instead they show us a spoilerfest of a trailer.

I don't think anyone struggles to believe you were there, but if what you saw looked 30fps or an unsteady 60fps, then it's not the PS4 version. That's pretty simple, I think.

Could you comment on the graphics? It's understandable that the frame rate was all over the place since the game is still a wip.

Very few games are locked at 60 fps.

I'm more sad that it won't have dedicated servers since I thought this whole gen would be all about that. I mean with Virtual servers on demand from both companies cloud infrastructures. But Everyone this gen seems more worried about 1080 p then 60 fps and dedicated servers. I will be happy with this game no matter what since I haven't played it at all yet I guess. Still pumped for release and have preordered the digital copy.

It looked clean, like a "super HD" version but the environments looked a bit flat (it's obvious that the assets are from a ps3 game).

The models of the characters are still very good and impressive though.

About the framerate i'm not saying it's choppy or all over the place, maybe my eyes deceived me but it's not super super smooth, it's more like KZ:SF.

I'm not willing to believe any of above regarding the environments and especially the framerate.

Waiting for real, confirmed gameplay impressions.

Just cause someone posts something on the internet and seems sincere doesn't mean it's true.

I don't think remaster has ever appeared in playable form for gen pop at any convention. However, PS Now version has appeared at almost every convention.

Were they really showing the PS4 version at this French event? I find it strange how Sony stay silent on TLOU at E3 but show the game at some random event no one has heard of.

I highly doubt it, Like you say, why would they debut it at some small time show without any media coverage or big reveal?

To my mind that makes perfect sense. E3 isn't for last years games. Having show floor dedicated to last years games rather than what's new is a negative.

That's just my armchair analysis though, I wasn't there. Have yet to play TLOU but I'm getting a PS4 this week!!

Visitors will have the opportunity to visit the "House of the Future" with all the latest in terms of technology: demonstration of virtual reality helmets, accessories prototypes or cloud gaming. 4K projection room will also be installed to allow visitors to discover all the trailers and previews of games in high resolution.

Cloud gaming, huh?

If there's no pics then it's bullshit imo. I think Naught Dog is keeping this close to the vest for a reason. I've heard from people in the know that it's going to absolutely blow people away when they finally see it in action and all this "it's gonna be practically the same" bullshit will go away once and for all.

Not saying you are wrong but by that reasoning you can't take those tweets seriously either lol

I haven't played the game myself, a guy was playing it, it was the Quarantine Zone

So you are the only guy reporting on this?

No press had word on TLOU PS4 being shown at this obscure French event? No press reaction at all, just some random demo of it being played by someone.

I find that really hard to believe.

Turn 10 does the same thing, though their games never meet the same critical reception, if that's the answer you're looking for. I would like to point out that it is normal for project leads to show appreciation to their employees for putting in a lot of hard work to achieve goals. The fact that you think this is a point of contention says a lot about you. They already know the game is good (200 Game of the Year awards and all that), so it should be obvious what they're proud of.

it was my goty last year and probably gotg and i plan on double dipping. the game already stands on its own and doesn't need this. the amount of "omg 60fps...we are awesome" seems weird to me. i'm going to say i am in the "don't tell me, show me" camp.

please do tell me exactly what it says about me. thanks.

No idea what it says about you, but I am sure (ok 99.9% sure) the tweets are 2 things. 1 that they are proud of their work and they know people are looking forward to it. 2 they have nothing to show currently for whatever reason and this is the best hype machine they can offer.

Personally I am more interested in them finishing the game and then work on the gameplay vid after.
