Phew! Finally beat the game (got it early and played nonstop)!! Fear not, I wouldn't dare spoil the ending; all I'll say is the last boss is tough!!! Seriously I got super lucky and beat it with just one heart! I went in with two faeries and two heart potions! I can't even imagine how I'll pull it off on hero mode in my next play-through.

I think the game started off really strong and kind of lost its appeal towards the later section because it just felt like filler, but it went out with a bang for sure. It adds an interesting new perspective for the entire series; you'll see.

NOW I CAN GET ON TO PLAYING SKYRIM! YAY!!!

FINISHED THE GAME, BITCHES.

heh, I knew they would bring in
Ganon at some point. It's obvious that Demise is Ganon's origin - I mean, just look at the fucking guy. While Link and Zelda in SS are the first of their bloodline, Demise is the predecessor to Ganon. It's an awesome backstory to Ganon though - explains why he cannot die, and his last words were chilling.

justin timberlake sure loves the game

not a spoiler for yourself now that you've read that...
it's his first form, before he takes on the persona of Ganon in the future, not Ganon as you know him.

and a spoiler for people who actually have finished the game:

I'd say its equivalent how Zelda is the reincarnation of Hylia. Ganon is the reincarnation of Demise. With the same hair.

It says a lot about gaming these days when Zelda plays second fiddle to Skyrim!

Got this game yesterday morning and I played it for 9 and a half hours straight.

Pretty sure you guys can extrapolate my feelings for the game from that.

I want to play Skyrim, but I'd rather play Zelda first. And I'm not going to rush Zelda just to get to Skyrim either. I'm taking my sweet ass time. It takes like what, 5 years to get a Zelda game?

Going to savor this.

Oh it's back? Nice.

I love the multiquote feature, it's going to be very useful :D

BTW the sixth dungeon is pretty awesome.

Did you do any side stuff? 31hours seems kinda short, well, I had like 45 on Twilight Princess.

heh, you should remember my playing style from the Xenoblade thread (70 hours, story only, no sidequests).

Same for Zelda - but I'm amazed that after beating the final boss, I had been playing for 31 hours - in Xenoblade at that time, I had just got to Eryth Sea. That wasn't even at the halfway point.

holy shit that game was colossal. still my GOTY, far far above Zelda. Skyward Sword is good, but Xenoblade is another level entirely.

I had like 92hours on Xenoblade. I miss these big meaty jRPG's. :( Lovely game, save one boss I really loathed.

But back to Zelda, is there a cave of ordeals or anything in this installment?

Basically,
hold the wiimote right and then bring it over and swing from the left. He'll be expecting it from the other side and it will hit him. Ditto with hold left and then move it right, hold it up and move it down, down and move it up, etc etc.

Just make it look like you'll swipe from one direction and then swipe from the opposite.
It's fundamental to the combat and before that boss I didn't understand that. It was a great way of teaching it to you, albeit four hours into the game :\
Thanks, I didn't catch that.

That technique just improved the overall game. I'm about to enter the second dungeon. It's really a fun game, I love it.

its mindblowing. You just stumble upon new areas the size of Faron Woods in Zelda throughout, areas that have absolutely no relevance to the story - just there for you to explore - and you get rewarded for it

and the story is ten times of fuck awesome

That isn't me picking favorites necessarily, but since I got the game early I just felt like I should play it early. I've held off on playing any further into Skyrim because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to finish Zelda before most people and stumble upon spoilers myself. And I didn't have much trouble because Zelda was very enjoyable; but I'm extremely happy I'm done with it and moving on to Skyrim now.

6 hours in, and I've just beaten the 1st dungeon. That in line with everyone else? I dunno what else I could have been doing apart from the main quest at the moment.

Oh shit.

You don't craft that?! So you can't get to use that in the story? I thought Boss Rush mode comes available after you beat the game?

Why is it that I always read these little spoilers? DAMN YOU!!

Now I need to play boss rush mode :(

hardly a big spoiler though. almost as big as saying 'lol, the slingshot is hidden in the first OOT dungeon'

Anyway, I think I should let everyone know I beat the final boss without a shield, as it got broken in the battle before. shit was brutal.

Check your local Target!

I went there last night for a few things and on a whim chevoked the game section. They had a placeholder for SS where they normally display new games for sale. I asked the clerk if they had it and he said "yeah let me get one for you"... My heart leaped into the air, until he came back and said "yeah man sorry we were selling them earlier and we're sold out right now, check back tomorrow." So either the guy was just messing with me or they actually did have them for sale earlier in the day.

Where the hell are all you guys getting it early from?

Also to anyone who got the Wii Motion Plus controller bundle, does the actual Zelda game come in the regular Wii DVD case and have the UPC on the back or does it have a not for resale thing on it? I have the LE on order from Amazon but it won't come until Tuesday. Might have to get it at midnight and just return the unopened copy when that order comes in.

I groaned out loud at
the escort mission
. It was easy, but they really didn't need to add so much filler before you reach each of the middle dungeons.

EDIT: European edition does have both a Wii box and "Not for resale", not sure about the US.

Just so you know, it came out yesterday in all of Europe. Now the US? Heck if I know. Wish I did though, although I already have it paid off at Gamestop.

Spoiler about Shields

Nope, you do not craft that. You get rush mode after reviving a certain character.
Oh and don't bother looking all around the place for this guy, you'll find him through the main quest. I say that because a stupid stone gave me the idea that it was hidden somewhere in the game as a side quest. Searched everywhere, but all I needed to do was progress through the story! Such a waste of time!

Skiesofwonder

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.
If this thread has taught me one thing, it is this: I REALLY need to play Xenoblade!
sounds like something good to jump into during the early part of 2012. :)

One more day till Zelda!!!!! :0

I'm not liking the sound of a really hard last end boss.

Gulp.
it's not NEARLY as hard as people are making it sound. the first part can easily be beaten without losing a single heart, once you understand what you have to do. and during the second part you might take a few hits but, once again, if you understand what you need to do, it'll take 3 attacks and a bit of waggling and the boss goes down. almost every other boss in the game takes longer to beat. i died quite a few times until i "got" it but then beat the boss really fast without losing much health. you really don't need a single fairy or potion.

So, I'm having a lot of trouble with the motion controls. The bug net especially feels awful to control. I'm having fun still, but it's pretty frustrating to have to recentre the cursor all the time and stuff. :-/

Oh also, the red little goblin things... Is there some trick to stopping them blocking. Or do you just keep hacking away where they aren't blocking until you finally get through?

You only have to recenter the cursor if you aren't pointing the remote at the screen properly.

Holy shit that GIF! ^^

with the bug net you have to realize that tilting the remote to get it to face the right way is a necessity. then it's all fine. not that i bothered much with bug collecting.
