You're a big guy.
I'd forgotten about this thread after the World Cup, but goddamn the last day of WI-ENG was amazing. Anderson turned up the heat and the windies couldn't take it. It was excellent test cricket between two ordinary teams on an ordinary pitch.

It's always nice when a nailed-on Boring Draw... isn't.

Pakistan should really pile on for another session here. Bat bangladesh out of the game. Can't see bangladesh holding out on a wearing pitch against the spinners pakistan has.

Also I'll say this much for T20. Anything that gives me a chance to watch more brad hoggy hogg is never a bad thing.

And England play it safe yet again with their team selection - no changes. Someone has made a very good point on the Beeb commentary - can't change a winning side, therefore new players only come in when we lose. Would have liked to have seen Lyth in (Trott is not an opener) and why not play Rashid?

He was probably the best no.3 in the world before his issues; but it's not as if he had an outstanding return to form that justified his inclusion in the team, let alone the squad. And playing in the Windies, he knows he's going to get some short stuff, especially at the Oval where it's quicker. Disappointed.

Trott got screwed by the England management, he should have been kept around the squad to reacclimatise instead of being chucked in at the deep end. They set him up to fail.

No real place for him now though. Ballance and Root have proven themselves to be more than capable replacements of trott.

Also congrats to cook. Not an england fan in the slightest but it's nice to see him get out of his rut.

At least it's an entertaining one.

Can't be said for the batsmen paradises that is the australia vs india series as well as the recent pakistan vs bangladesh test.

So fallout of the WI series has hit for England - Jonathan Trott announced his international retirement (which is not surprising - and he should be commended for trying to get back to the level he was once at - regardless of the result).

Andrew Strauss has been hired as Director of Cricket at the ECB - I think he will do well there. But there's too little time for him to do enough to make this summer any less of the bloodbath that it will be.

KP making the headlines again. This time for scoring a triple century though.

I do admire his efforts to get back to the national side but I genuinely can't see a place for him unless he opens.

Same problem with trott really.

There is no room for him at all. Burnt his bridges.

Strauss has just said there is a massive trust issue between KP and both the ECB and him right now.

Just looking at KP's innings for Surrey in Division 2 of the county championship, it goes: 19 & 53, 32 & 8 and then 355. Funny that his big innings is when Strauss gets appointed.

Pietersen got dropped 4 times yesterday. Only one was a difficult chance according to the reports.

But then Leicestershire could barely be called a first class cricket side.

To be fair scoring 60% of your team's runs and having your score be 10x the next best person (who happens to be sangakkara) has to count for something.

Ouch, nice start.

Had to look up a couple of the newcomers. Adam Lyth? Mark Wood?

By the way, what ever happened to Compton? Came on the scene a few years ago in NZ and then disappeared again.

That was a fun morning session, fantastic bowling by NZ at first and then a great counterattack from Root and Stokes. Hope the rest of the day is just as entertaining.

Today's a real special day for Pakistanis. Finally getting a home game and the emotions are running real high. I know the situation in the country isn't any better, but it just feels incredible to see some international cricket at home after such a long time. Zimbabwe have earned so much respect from going ahead with this tour and we're already having a memorable series before we even start.

Just a few hours left and can't wait to hear the crowd. #CricketComesHome

Let's hope they don't get into the stadium, see that Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik and Mohammed Sami are still on the teamsheet and demand the national team leaves for another six years.

While I do sympathize with Pakistan's plight I still don't think it's a great idea to go through with it. The fact that the teams still need police escort isn't going to encourage other nations to come.

Got a tiny bit emotional hearing that crowd during the coin toss

Sami steaming in, pings the ball down at pace, ball pings off the bat towards the boundary even quicker. Yup, Pakistani cricket is back :*)

Game on at Lords. New Zealand 61-4 chasing 345 to win with two sessions left. That man Stokes just struck.

NZ were 0 for 2 at one point...

Edit: Bowls McCullum first ball! Stokes on a Hattrick!

Ben Stokes on a hat trick!

I don't see anyone bitching about Cook's captaincy now. We've got ourselves in a great position to hopefully go and win this

Bayliss for coach it seems. I am very disappointed we are not getting Gillespie because I think if we don't do it now someone else will take him but the pundits like Warne and David Lloyd say he's very good so hopefully it ends up being a good appointment

NZ 174-7 with 23 overs remaining at Lords.

One major thing that I've been happy with re this Test's coverage is the comms during umpire reviews. You now hear the third umpire's analysis - it's fantastic.

Cook passed Gooch to become England's leading test run scorer. As an Essex and England fan, and seeing both in person in their prime this is quite a moment.

SO it looks like AUS tonight will be one of:

SMarsh
Warner
Smith
Clarke
Voges
Watson
Haddin
Johnson
Starc
Lyon
Hazelwood

or

SMarsh
Warner
Smith
Clarke
MMarsh
Watson
Haddin
Johnson
Probably Starc not Hazelwood
Lyon
Ahmed

Depending on whether they want 2 spinners or not.

Not that I care that much about cricket in footy season but what is going on in the West Indies game?

West Indies 148 all out
Australia 126/6

Very average pitch and ground.

Without Voges and the tail it could have gone anywhere this game, but Australia should close it out tonight.

Great Picture of 5 of the last 6 Aussies to get a ton on debut and they were all at the ground. No Marcus North.

Good thing they dropped Chanderpaul for this game haha.

But the NZ-ENG series was absolutely incredible. Easily the best set of tests in a long, long time.
