The next "unexciting" Sony remaster is Days Gone, says VGC guy on twitter

I played this again recently on PS5 and it holds up extremely well. I don't understand why they're remaking games that still look as good as any of the "next gen" games that are out

Days Gone was great after it got patched and cleaned up. I double-dipped and bought it on Steam, so I wouldn't buy a PS5 remaster. But if this is a prelude to a second game, that would be great news.

Also WHERE THE HELL IS OUR BLOODBORNE REMAKE!!!

*deep breaths*

I played for 6 hours then dropped the game.
I thought it was extremely generic and bland zombie game. No personality whatsoever beside the biker vibe since the bike handling itself was absolute shit.
Should i have persevered ?
No, actually I thought that the beginning was the best part of the game lol, it just start to meander endlessly after a few hours in and is extrememely bloated.

This game is super overrated by the community for some reason.

I absolutely don't get why this one is considered a good thing.
It just proves that none of this shit is worth having a meltdown for...

I thought it was pretty standard for the first bit of the game, but I enjoyed every part of the game more and more as time went on (gameplay, story, open world mechanics, etc.). I did however play it during the pandemic on PS5, which I think was after all the patches. If you still have it around, maybe give it another try.

If I would guess, they want to remove Checkerboard rendering from all those PS4pro target games and put their PSSR to work because they don't have news games to show.

..gives me hope for its future....gotta say though, the already updated PS5 version of this game came out really solid, looks great and plays like a charm

Funnily enough I've said this before regarding days gone and the potential for a multiplayer component:

Teaming up to take on hordes and extract materials from their nests (while having to also fight off other teams of players with the same objective) has the potential to be amazing if done right.
Lots of games could be amazing if shit is done right. Concord could have been amazing if it had skinny chicks with big boobs and curvy butts. But odds are, Bend is a shell of their former selves and Days Gone was the most generic open world game last gen.

If satan exists and we se a sequel, it will only be worse.

Days Gone was a skip for me on PS4 despite getting a ton of marketing here.

Might actually go for it this time.

there would be so much stuff to remaster and make playable in the ps3 catalog and instead they resell games that are perfectly functional and available..

It really wasn't, when played on any of the harder difficulties it had a ton of systems that you were forced to utilise along with emergent gameplay opportunities. There's nothing "generic" about doing stuff like this:

I found that novelty wore off quick. I’ve tried to go back or restart the game at least 3 times and I fall off that bike quick.

Good on the guy in the video finding creative ways to dispatch enemies. It reminds me of the combat complaints with the last Zelda. Combat can be super boring. Or you can be creative and make it more fun.

So you never finished it?

To date it's still the only open world game I've got every single achievement for. Everything just clicked for me in a way that it hasn't in many other open world games, it's a game that will reward you in spades if you think outside of the box in terms of how to handle each encounter. If you just go in guns blazing for every single fight then yeh, I can see that getting old fast.

Sony was really like “The kids hate the woke stuff find me the whitest, straightest, most likely racist in the portfolio and fast track a remake”
This ain’t it though. Ben’s made sure to make your one and only friend a black guy.

Nah. I just checked my trophies and I can’t tell you how far in the story I got. I felt like I did a lot. I had to be past the halfway mark.

I had planned to play it in a lull for several years (that and the DS2 platinum), but never got around to it. I'll play this version instead.
Make sure you actually play it this time... I'm sure a remake of the remaster is just around the corner.

Days Gone being "less exciting" than the muhfuggin' , soulless borefest that is Horizon ? LMAO

Anyway, the game is more than the sum of its parts, what initially appears to be a "Generic Ubisoft open world clone®" turns out to be much more than that due to the setting and plot - talking about the plot, and without trying to spoil anything, there's SO MUCH potential for a sequel due to THAT ending...

If this remaster leads to an actual sequel then I'm all for it.

Now, do the same for the Order 1886 (another game with amazing sequel potential) and everything's forgiven Sony.

If they are so desperate for cashflow why don't they just GaaS up Warhawk/Starhawk, Twisted Metal, MAG and Motorstorm? For PS3 those games already looked good but if they released f2p at 4k60, those games/franchises would print money and satisfy both the people who are tired of Sony cinematic action game 5000 and the people who cape the f2p model.

Warhawk and MAG literally need nothing changed. Just add your skins and outfits or whatever and they're good to go.

A lot of people forget the PSN hack fucked over a lot of Sony 1P PS3 games (multiplayer games), thus negatively skewing the perception of those franchises as failures. They weren't. They never got a fair chance.

why.... why not a proper GOW 3 remake? Twisted Metal 2 Remake? Wipe out Remake? Legend of Dragoon Remake?

you have 100 million of unused high-profile IPs. why the fuck it's Days Gone !! They are gone for a reason .. because they are shit !! Don't fucking bring them back !!

What is the chance of Sony remaster Days Gone and doesn't greenlight a sequel? I think is high like Gravity Rush.

You guys didn't appreciate it the first time so we're gonna try this again!

From what I've played of it, it is a great game but I genuinely don't understand remastering it.

Man I’m not sure if Sony’s lack of balls, creativity, and risk taking this gen is due to Jim Ryan’s stupid GaaS push or moving their HQ to California but this is probably the most bland remaster they could do at this point. I’m leaning more towards the latter and this + Horizon is them trying to fix the shitshow he created hamstringing their studios from working on the types of games they were good at (single player) as fast as possible.

I really liked Days Gone when I platinumed it back on my PS4 Pro but in terms of PlayStation exclusives it’s pretty bland. It’s like well made fast food - it’s enjoyable but there’s not a ton of substance there. Add in that it already is available on modern platforms and runs/looks great on them and It’s just a really awful candidate for a remaster when you have other titles sitting there that the core fan base has been screaming for at least a performance patch for years.

I wouldn't want this to happen just to give that one guy any kind of credit. I enjoyed watching his emotional breakdown during the whole Astro Bot thing as it all felt so unnecessary.

Days Gone is such an interesting game, I was always curious about it, but I remembered so many people telling me it was fine at best, if that. Then years later people started saying it was good/really good. I was always curious to know where I would fall on it.

The crazy thing is Days Gone already looks amazing on PC. Yea sure a bit more lighting particles might make it look better but wow remastering this is crazy.
