i am all pro refueling, but i guess they wanted to see more direct racing. with refueling the strategies often only came together at the end of the race with less head to head racing. but without overtaking possibilities this is fairly boring imo.Articate said:

I still think Schumacher is right when he said that this rear-wing is all well and good in theory, but that grip should be more mechanical and less aerodynamic. Even lessen the grip totally.

The only thing they did is to ensure that most people stay in the place they start. Before people would have different fuel loads and would be more different ontrack. Last year's races was mostly like an accordian slowly being pulled out. Schumacher is the man that springs to mind when it comes to running a different fuel load and/despite going through the pack like a pack of tictacs. Like in Hungary '98 when he was on a three stopper while Mika and David infront were on two-stop stratergy. Awesome race.
refueling and strategic pit stops becomes pointless if the cars are so wildly fast that the top teams can easily gain the required buffer time to complete their pit stop and be on their way with no change in position. no to mention retarded team orders coming into play forcing one driver to take another pit stop over another (not that it couldnt happen in the current scheme).
if you really want to see good racing, F1 needs to eliminate the advantages of multibillion dollar aero packages or get better tracks. take a guess which of those problems are easier to solve?

Formula 1s Robert Kubica has been taken to hospital after what is being described as a serious accident in the first stage of the Ronde di Andora car rally this morning.
The accident occurred at around 09.00 CET, Sunday, according to media reports.
Kubica was driving a Skoda Fabia S2000 and is thought to have suffered fractures and other injuries, reports Savonanews.it, when his car hit a barrier on the drivers side.
The Pole, who races for Renault in the F1 championships, was taken to hospital in the Italian province of Savona by helicopter after being cut from the car wreckage.
Co-driver James Gerber is said to have emerged unscathed from the accident, however.
Details of Kubica's condition remain unclear though the f1.pl web site quotes Robert's father as saying his injuries "look ugly".
The accident appears to threaten Kubia's F1 grand prix season, which starts on 13 March in Bahrain.

Aye, I've seen varying reports as well. They all seem to agree that he had to be extracted from the car and was airlifted to hospital, but reported injuries vary from fractured wrists to a broken leg and hip.
At this point, whatever the outcome, it would seem that he's going to miss next week's test at least.

Last report 1m ago from Sky Sport 24 Italia, the accident was in Savona, there's an high risk Kubica will lose his right hand.

Then we already know that it's close to that unfortunately, the TAC he had in San Lorenzo reported severe injuries to his right hand. Luckily at least he was never unconsciuos and his life's not at risk.
