They have to fix Zangief before doing anything else. He's the most unbalanced character I've seen in a fighting game in a LONG time. Sooo many exploits.

How much do you play? Do have any idea how many bad matchups he has (or how much work it is for some of the matchups he has that aren't in his favor in general)?

What's the trade-in value for SFIV at Gamestop? I could use the credit to pay down my pre-orders (Tekken 6, Forza 3, MVC2 stick), and get ready for this sucker.

if you can't kill Zangief just pick Sagat

New characters are really exciting and all but I think what I'd like most of all is for Seth to be either removed completely or nerfed and made a mid-boss and add a new boss who can actually rival or surpass Gill.

I vote for
RUGAL

9$. Better to sell it in the buy/sell trade thread on here.

Will playing a million hours make his lariat's hitbox less retarded?

out of curiosity, how much new content does this game need before it's allowed to be sold as a disk without people being upset?

If reusing a tweaked engine isn't sufficient effort to get your money, should games using the Unreal Engine, or any common engine, be DLC as well?

No but it'll teach you to deal with it being (admittedly) ridiculous.
Honestly, that's all I would want fixed with Gief. It's such a glaring issue. Maybe they could tone down his stamina but it's not pivotal, especially if they buff up the rest of the cast.

Capcom is a Japanese company. They don't seem to be as progressive as the west about how DLC can be utilized.

There's no reason in this day and age why it cannot be offered as both DLC and as a retail disk (I want a retail disk). However, giving the DLC away for free.... it depends on how SF4 is designed and what pay structure XBL and PSN have. How do you completely change the fundamental gameplay of a game originally offered on a disk? (SF4). Unless you forced those who wanted to "upgrade" to do a complete install so that they can completly overwrite necessary files.

Those asking for DLC really are doing some wishful thinking here. I doubt offering a complete revision over DLC was part of pre-planning for SF4, a game which the company had doubts would even succeed in the first place.

Maybe SSF4 Turbo (3rd iteration) will be able to be offered as DLC if SSF4 (this rumored 2nd iteration) is designed to allow it, but I doubt it.

This will not splinter the market. Tourneys will automatically adopt SSF4 as standard unless it is retardedly broken. People who are serious about SF4 will likely do the same (except a small group of holdouts for a while in protest).

Q is a fucking beast when played by someone that knows him... then again just about every character in SF3 is, thanks to parrying and punishing.

I got dibs on toning down Sagats damage output, F+RH juggles, and stupid effective TK first. But yeah, Lariat is stupid too.

I'm praying for no brokeness in SSFIV....

A game needs exactly 10 hours of gameplay content to be disc-worthy. Because 10 hours of gameplay is standard and everyone plays games at the same pace as we all know. 9:59 and no sale on the internet.

I'd lean towards DLC after things like Lost & Damned and Shadow Complex (for XBLA) have set the bar, but I still think a $30-$40 disc price would be satisfactory or even applauded by people who didn't buy SFIV.

On my Gen wish list: make his roll way more effective simply by not letting him just be swept out of it so easily. Such a cool looking move and it's never really used outside of chip damage and obvious combos.

Zangief is a scrub killer. Which isn't going to help people trying to get into fighting games. Unless they pick Zangief (why learn combos and strategies where you can press a button that will counter 90% of the moves in the game?).

And again I ask.. do you play the game? Gief isn't that abusable...

Wouldn't that be Monday in America still?

No, cuz it's 5pm Japan time. That's 4am on Tuesday on the East Coast, and I guess 1am on the west coast?

They just need to come up with a new online system and everything will be right as rain. Ranked promoted asshat behavior, and Championship mode unnecessarily divided up the match pool.

Just copy BlazBlue's system, especially the part where no one picks to be host (because it doesn't God damn matter). Copy its netcode too. And the match recording. The only thing they shouldn't copy is showing the player's most used character before blind character selection, because that just defeats the point.

I'd pay full price for that.

I'd love it if they bring the 3rd Strike characters in, but yeah... Remy, Twelve, Q I can do without. Still, how would they put these guys into the storylines since 4 takes place before 3? They're just throwing canon out the window now. Sakura was already pushing it, now they might as well make it a Street Fighter All Stars type of game. I'd love to see a Hugo vs Zangief fight though, can't deny it :D

CartridgeBlower said:
You're a Gief player, aren't you?

He's my second for console and main for console behind Sakura. I'll be one of the first to admit that the hitbox on the lariat could be tweaked some but he is by no means an unstoppable killing machine.

I believe that nearly everyone who played SFIV has had problems against Zangief's and Blanka. Eventually you figure them out, learn how to punish, what beats what, but at least for me the first few weeks online fighting a Zangief or Blanka would mean a near certain loss. Especially if you main a non-projectile character.

They need to bring down his stun bar and fix lariat's hit box. I hated his range on SPD at first, but I think it's OK actually as is after a little more play time with good Zangiefs. I think you just have to be in the proper mindset to fight him.

Lariat is the big WTF though. I can't remember who said it in the official thread, but it's almost always his best answer when he gets close, and requires 1 button to activate. I think the bigger atrocity is that it hits low after the initial part of it, and can be an armor breaking reversal. F that noise.

Lariat needs to be nerfed at least a little for sure. Otherwise, Gief is only tough for people who are new to the game or people who play a character who don't have a lot of answers for Gief's BS (me D:)

I can't say I'm the world's biggest fan of 4, but going from 4 to 8 of my 10 favorite characters (plus 2 cool-sounding new ones) in 1 update? Yes, please! Now, Elena (my favorite from 3), Yang, and a real sambo character and I'm set!
