Nothing will ever be as bad as concord, game had 200 to 400m usd budget, vast media campaing and sold 25k copies wolrdwide, even terrible games that sell 1k copies as long as they are only AA scope with 100m usd or smaller budget will never lose as much money as concord did :)

This has none of the drama about Elon or pronouns and the response has been mostly negative.

Microsoft also had to change the price from $80 and $70 and people still aren't biting according to SteamDB.

I get the feeling Microsoft has higher expectations for this one since it's a sequel and it's their big holiday game. Not looking great so far.

I don't expect it to sell well, and yeah $80 was totally absurd. I think $60 is the sweet spot for both this and Avowed, or Gamepass which makes this a total no brainer to play day 1. Supposedly part 1 sold 5 million, so I expect people will pick this one up after a discount in large numbers.

A lot of people in the Avowed OT were predicting that people will figure out that it's a great game years later. Game is not perfect, but very underrated - especially in general sentiment / discussion online with people who haven't tried it. I haven't played this one yet, but it looks pretty similar.

My prediction for this is same as Avowed, but added non linearity from Obsidian of the past. Can kill anyone and do stuff out of order etc.

Should address almost all issues people had with Avowed.

PTSD from Avowed maybe? The trailer has hints of this. Short haired, generally unattractive girl-boss energy all throughout the trailer. Unnecessary notion that you can't sleep with them. It's not exactly subtle. This is an advertisement for the game, which means that they think no romance options is a feature. I don't care either way, but to make that the final crescendo in your advertisement for the game is definitely reminiscent of Dragonveil, Concord and other games who definitely leaned hard in the woke direction. Outer Worlds gets a slight pass because they kinda started out this way...which is fine. For example, in the first game, Parvati was arguably the most attractive character in the game and was lesbian. New franchise, new IP, you do what you will with it. Still, it feels unnecessary to present a video game in this manner.

I don't think the backlash was motivated by any desire to defend Elon. It was motivated by Hansen's pro-woke position and his racist comments. Elon's involvement is the factor which drew attention to it, but if the incident happened now instead of then it would play out exactly the same.

Overall this was probably a positive for Avowed, as there was no interest in it at all until this incident. Or at least not since the announcement trailer years earlier.

It was a dumb comment, but people blew it up on purpose to farm it on rage youtube channels for money and people lap it up. Someone just said the problem with Obsidian is that they're old white guys on the last page and no one cares, because no youtube channel told them to care.

I'm not one of the anti-woke crowd but this just looks bland. I actually liked the first game for the most part. It wasn't perfect but it was fun.

It looks like a game from 10 years ago.

I've got nothing against the user you quoted but you are correct. And somebody on a podcast always says, words talk number scream. Unfortunately and I don't mean to make this too political but even in the face of facts and hard data usually it's people on the left or whatever you want to call woke or trigger or stupid bullshit that doesn't matter, you cannot overcome them when even hard facts because their feelings matter too much.
