Zenimax should buy it back and let Machine Games make a reboot.

Holy Shit. I want this to happen so much.

Well they could make a game called Turok, just so long as it doesn't have anything to do with the existing comic/character

I don't think that'd go down too well considering Turok's pre-existing presence within the video game space.

Turok would be a console seller for me.

Anyways, what is the best way to play Turok 2: Seeds of Evil nowadays? N64 or some emulator or what? I feel like N64 is not a good choice because memory cards don't seem to work/be reliable.

My memory card was dying but I just bought new batteries on eBay (for cheap) and replaced the old one and now it's as good as new!

I'd say play the PC version. It can perhaps be a bit difficult to get it to run on newer systems, but it's a solid experience so definitely worth it even if you have to tinker some to get it working.

That last title probably sunk it completely. I remember preordering just to get the shirt then canceling it later on. No one picked it up from what I remember from working at GS.

Propaganda Games
2008 Turok
2010 Tron: Evolution
Canceled Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned Action
Canceled Turok 2

I remember Tron. lol That's been quite a while.

Disney closed the studio in January 2011

08 had nothing to do with the earlier games.
The series was dead before that came along. The last acclaim Turok was evolution which had a time traveling cyborg confederate general or something.

Also Turok sold or shipped 1 million units and the fact that a sequel was on the table must mean it didn't do that bad. Disney at that point just didn't want to finance big titles.

Is it just me or is Turok 2 quite hard?

Pretty cool game but every time I play it I can only make slow progress

I havent played it in years but it is super hard and incredibly confusing, 1 and 2 are like watching a David Lynch film, they are just uncomfortable and frustrating but you cant look away.

One day I will sit down with both games and actually beat them, never been able to.

I would very much enjoy a remake of the original turok games (if not a new installment in a similar style). I'm sure the N64 games have aged horribly by now, but i remember really enjoying them.

With MS betting on dragons and Sony on robo dinos, Nintendo must fill the gap for regular dinosaurs.

That or Machine Games, though I'd bet my bottom dollar they're busy with a sequel to Wolfenstein or another iD IP.

Exactly! Never thought of that David Lynch analogy but that's on point, haha. I need to muster the courage to finish it someday too.

Well not that bad actually.

guns, dinos, cerebral bore...it was a shooter that spawned gun-pr0n games like Black that you got to do it against aliens and dinosaurs!

ah.

yeah, those games were good.

1 was foggy.

2 was the great but literally made me sick from the narrow field of view.

i remember liking the story of 3. i can't remember what happened and it was likely bad. but i remember that, at the time, i thought it was pretty cool.

i think the gamecube one had a racist cowboy riding a t-rex? his name was dumb. like, colonel tittytoots or something? they were losing me at that point.

There was also Rage Wars on the N64 which was a deathmatch-centred game and focused mainly on multiplayer modes:

I've heard good things about it

I remember that arena Turok game on NS4. Had a really great time with it with my siblings.

EDIT: lol, the one right above

I gave up on it after Turok 2. When Turok Evolution came out I expected someone else to play it. lol I always found it at a smoker's house or a guy who was a big dbag. I didn't even feel interested in it. What I didn't see the 2008 Turok doing was actually helping establish it. I saw a game that just had "Turok" written all over it regardless how much it sold. This was probably when everyone was watching new releases like a hawk because we were getting games that established that time period.

No one was talking about Turok 3. By that time I think I had my eyes off the N64.

Yet I say 2008 because some people were just getting into gaming. The graphics were letting people become professionals out of nowhere. I noticed people picking up a game because they got a 7 hour graphical story driven-gameplay extravaganza. It was at the time when people came in with big ideas. I think they do now, but now we criticize the game every which way.

In terms of news and looking up information, I was focused mostly on N64 to the DC to the PS2. I wasn't thinking about how amazing a new Turok game was. I saw it in just about every gaming mag and comic book I got my hands on. I think the press played more of Turok than a lot of us spending money out there. N64 was gone right when they started showing graphics for the new consoles.

Come the fuck on Bish. Make it happen.

And please. Can we go back to him being a native indian dude in a jungle with a knife and plenty of dino's, lizard men, warp portals, platforming and crazy weapons with lots of epic sounding drum music. How hard can it be.

I think the best way to revive Turok is to have a AAA studio do a new game in the mold of Rust but add in that lore from the comics (which I haven't read) to make a good singleplayer experience. Gameplay elements from Rust I like: Coop survival, "castle" creation, open world. Cut out some of the greifing and permadeath. Add some new gameplay elements: Dinosaur taming, intelligent Dino AI for hunting you, RPG progression.

In 3, Joshua "Turok" Fireseed dies in the beginning and you pick his niece or nephew to play as. They have different characteristics and each has their own upgrade of weapons like a sniper vs a burst rifle as well as small splitting off paths. You even traverse a battle damaged version of T1's opening.
You later fight Turok and I forget if they made him come back to life or not.

Evolution had the Confederate who you fight (an old villain of Tal'set). T:Evolution on Game Boy Advance is qualty/hard side-scroller.

Nonononononononono, no survival nor open world. We have enough of it already

Who has the rights to the original two games? Would love to see the original ports fixed up and released in Steam.

Looks like they would have to relicencse the games through Random House at this point.

My username, man. Look at my username :(

Just means Dinsosuar_Hunter1 is a bigger fan than you.

And it was awesome. Tal'set, the son of stone. Dinosaur invasion forces. And temporal cubes.

Super cool game that not many like for some raisin.

I really enjoyed it but the loading was so long and awful...I think I want to play that more than N64 again. Good thing I still own it. :)

Got to keep the love of the series alive! I've been doing a mini lego webcomic on Turok in his own/newish world, been slacking recently.

Probably not harder to make than another shooter. But also probably harder to sell en masse these days.
