Tomasz Gop worked at CD Projekt Red for 5 years and during that time had a few professional levels, ending with the Senior Producerze. As a man about a Witcher 2 at conferences and presentations proved itself - full of energy and witty, he became the second next to Adriana Chmielarz so recognizable person creating the game in our country.

The Witcher 2 appeared, and although in the preparation of a version of the Xbox 360, Tom decided to part with the company. Says our source, is tired and a little burnt - after several years he lived only adventures of Geralt, and more than one person working in the gaming industry will tell you how virtual worlds adversely affect the personal life. I also hide the port Witcher 2 is not a product so fresh and eagerly awaited as the prototype, which is connected with the fact that despite all the promotion it offers less fun. Among other things, why on August Gamescomie presentation next console version of the game will now show us Tom.

Our information confirms the professional services.

He'll surely be missed, but they still have 299 employees left. :p

Sounds like he would have stuck around had they moved onto the sequel or something else.

Shame, really.

On an unrelated note, has anyone claimed to have seen all 16 endings? From what I recall there was a free t-shirt in it if you could prove it.

Still not sure which decision permutations contribute to an end state.

So I've woken up randomly at 2am in the morning, girlfriend beside me, Witcher 2 in my mind lol. Do I just switch on the PC and play some more?

*Grabs headphones*

Sure....why not? :D

I've gone into gaming depression after deciding not to play this again for a fourth consecutive time.

No sense of fulfillment from playing anything whatsoever. Went back to the first game but something unlike boredom is impeding me. After about 15-20 minutes I feel like I've had my fill for the day and I'm the type of person who can sit down for 2-3 hour sessions easily.

I'm really, really bored now haha.

I know exactly how you feel. Most games just really feel empty after playing through TW2.
Though I still am having fun with StarCraft 2.

Try not to trigger a sex scene though, no way you can explain how you randomly woke up at 2am and accidentally triggered a digital sex scene with your headphones on. :p

I'm kind of bummed that I was so conservative with the settings at the start. I started with medium in the prologue, bumped it up to high when I got to Flotsam and then for shits and giggles I tried it out on Ultra settings minus Ubersampling the other night to see if it would double dropkick my laptop. I let out a school girl-like gleeful gasp of joy when I realized it ran fine. Granted, I don't think my laptop's screen is full 1080p though.

Anybody playing this with a Geforce 9600 GS 768 MB card? I've got a Quad Core Phenom processor and 6 GB of ram and I'm just curious if I can play this with any quality whatsover. I haven't had too much trouble out of recent games with it, but this game in particular seems to be a beast in regards to specs.

I wish there was a demo.

You can do it, son. The difficulty can be uneven, but most of the challenge is in getting over that first hump and learning the timing of combat as well as utilizing your signs and traps/bombs effectively. It's a bit toned down now but the prologue is tough for a lot of people since they just throw you into it without any real tutorials. As others have said, it's laughably easy the second time you play it.
What's the general consensus on superior controls, keyboard or 360 controller?

I'm playing on a GTX 260 with a Intel core 2 quad clocked at 3ghz and I'm fine on high. Not sure how that compares to your setup.

It's the rare case where both work fine, I've spent a good bit of time with both, but I'd give the edge to keyboard. You can double tab WASD to roll, and mouse aiming made it easier to avoid targeting the wrong enemies. Plus, it's nice to tap a button to directly access the map, character screen, or inventory instead of just pressing start to dig through it all.

Still, a gamepad is perfectly functional, so if you're more comfortable with it, it's fine to use.

Just "beat"
Letho
in Act 1. I like how the boss fights require you to use different strategies to win, however once you figure them out they're pretty damn easy. For example,
Letho was nearly impossible until I realized I should stop wasting Vigor on Quen and just use Aard three times in a row, avoid, and repeat. Then the fight was over in a matter of minutes.

Still having fun with the game. Decided on going with the
Roche
path, so we'll see how this goes.

As an aside, did anyone else hate the Fight Club quest? It was such a time waster as fighting is super easy with the QTE battles. I was expecting things to climb up in difficulty, but nope, pretty much the same thing each fight.

Hm, I somehow was expecting Gop to quit, I don't know why. Intuition, bitch!

What I don't like about the fact that it seems that he was the one pushing for hardcore and mature direction of the series. The guy has completed Demons Souls three times and TW2 is definitely influenced by this game.

He was working on the first game too.

You can't go wrong here. I prefer playing on the 360 controller though, I like playing action-RPGs with a pad.

haha, I sort of understand him.

but what could be more awesome than more The Witcher games? lol

I hope the vision for the franchise is shared inside the company and we won't see The Witcher 3: DAII edition.

Bloodlines? Deus Ex? ... I can't think of many other better RPG games.

Too bad he got so jaded, maybe he'll find a better line of work. I wouldn't object to CDPR doing something other than the Witcher, at least sometime before 2050. I'll be dead by then anyways.

These specs were posted in the performance thread:

Low Settings said:
CPU: C2D E6750
GPU: 8800GT
Resolution: 1280x960
Framerate: 30-40 fps

Your CPU is better, but GPU is slightly worse (the 8800GT is the minimum, yours technically falls below it by around 20% as a 9600 GS = 8800 GS). I'd expect similar results to the above, you might have to drop the resolution to 720p though to make up for the weaker GPU. So you're probably looking at the lowest settings, but you have a pretty good chance at 30 fps.

I need to double check this, but does getting the Finesse skill (+5% all crit. effects) update the attribute page, where it shows percatanges you have for knockdowns/bleed/poison/etc?

I invested in this skill and it still showed +3% from a mutagen :(. I would think it would show +8% to all now.

Hi gaf.

I installed the game last night.

The textures and sound are very impressive, but its seems like the Uber Sampling option screws everything up and the game only gives me like 5-10 fps, I already have the latest updates and patches.

Also, there is no 4:3 resolution support, that dissapointed me because I have an old but great samsung CRT monitor.

Another issue is that I cant take screenshots with the Print key

My PC specs:

Phenom 2- 955 3.4ghz
Sapphire radeon HD5770.
4gig DDR3 1600mhz OCZ rams.

I play at 1792x1344, everything ultra, it gets cropped with black lines due to the lack of 4:3 support.

I want to use the Uber sampling option but it seems to requiere a complete cluster of servers to run properly :S , what are your suggestions gaf?, I dont have money to buy a GTX590

Ubersampling is practically impossible to run on a single card configuration (GTX 580 might work, not sure). Maybe in a few years brah.

4:3 resolution support is coming in the next patch from what we've heard so far.

For screenshots most of us use fraps which also functions as an fps monitor and video recorder. You can also take screenshots with RadeonPro which is what I've been using lately.

You won't be able to use uber sampling, so don't bother. You can check here for tips people have posted to improve your performance though.

You can map character screen and inventory to the pad keys no problem.

Some questions regarding locations:

1.-Malena's quest in the cave at the end there's a closed trap door that Geralt can't open. What's the use?

2.-Loredo's house at the back where you meet the prostitute or find the Iron Frame. There's a door on the floor you can access, after going down to set of ladders there's a dead end.

3.-In the Kadween camp whore house inside the tower lays a locked door. How do you open it?

Thanks, I could not even notice a difference between both screenshots from a quick view, so I guess UberSampling its unnecessary.

But judging from the chart It seems like I need to buy another Vcard to play smoothly.

It also seems that you need to read the books to understand whats going on if you didnt played witcher 1

So finished Chapter 1 and started Chapter 2
Iorveth Path
and I have to say that I absolutely love this game so far.
The Kayran battle was damn impressing, but the arakhnas and Letho fights were a bit letdown.

End of Chap. 1 stuff :
you can actually open this in the end mission @ loredo's house, from the other side (one of the patrolling guards has the key, could be wrong), i have no idea what purpose this serves, i think its one of alternative mission paths they ended up removing i bet (another way to sneak into loredo's place
actually this is door for #2 on your questions, im sure of it, i think its disabled so the mission doesn't break.

Didn't understand well your post :D I know in the first visit to Loredo's house you can't enter the trap door on the ground. But in the second visit there you can and there's nothing there.

Also inside Loredo's house, in the guards quarters, theres a chest i can't open. Anyone know how to?

Lastly,
Leaving the Ballista in Loredo's house alone doesn't change anything
funny since Roach was making a huge deal about the thing.

Ah my bad. Going off memory here.

The trap door found at the end of caves in Malena's quest (where you search for the bodies), I believe leads to the ground trap door by Loredo's. You just never get access to both ends at once. The set of ladders from my recollection was that they were the same. Well they felt the same to me. In the final mission all exits from Loredo's will be blocked because they don't let you "leave" the mission. It was probably leftover from where they had an alternative mission completion paths. It could have been a sneaky escape route, etc
The Chapter ends w/ that mission, no more going into town

Edit: speaking of the iron frame, heh, didn't realize what it was for, just found out on the wikia site, may have to use it on the next playthrough.

It's really cool but in the end is worthless because its only one. But guess it was sweet to give the coup de grace using it. They should hide extra frame very well and the 3rd one put it in a store for a high price.

Guess nobody knows my other questions. I wonder why CDP decide not to put many animals in the game. It looks so stupid watching some NPCs fishing when theres no fish around.

3. That's the main story quest.

2. Hm, is it the entrance to the dungeon as far as I remember?

Sorry if i didn't explain myself correctly. The locked door im talking about is where you fight Vinson Traut. There's the door where you enter, the exit and cell doors. At the back theres one that's locked.

Just beat it a few days ago. I'll definitely go back to it again making different decisions someday (hopefully with an even better CPU and graphics card by then), but I gotta say that I was a tiny bit disappointing with it overall.

After the massive second act (way too fetch-questy for my tastes) I expected the game to pick up steam, but I didn't think it would rap up as quickly as it did. I fully admit that it's my fault for thinking this game would have the same number of acts as the first game.

The combat was fine, but I liked the first game's a bit better. I missed having the different weapon stances and it took a while before I was able to upgrade my sword abilities enough to hit nearby enemies. At least when it started getting boring for me I upgraded to the point where you get the "win button" ability when you fill up your adrenaline (or whatever it was). That made some fights much more bearable.

As far as the graphics are concerned... I don't know, they just didn't do as much for me as they do for most people. Everything that's great about it I agree is great, but there are a lot of little issues that are some of my biggest pet peeves with videogame graphics in general.

Clipping was one of the biggest issues I had. Maybe it was made worse by how good the game looks overall, but that one king's giant belt clips through his chest every time he's on screen, and you can tell the guy who did the mo-cap for the buff-as-hell assassin wasn't anywhere near his body type by how his arm muscles clip into his torso constantly. Is it really that hard to mo-cap people with padding to simulate bigger muscles, or have them in costume so they don't articulate further than their in-game clothing/physique would allow? It's just SO much better looking when little details don't clip like that, like Geralt's armor with his book and trophy flopping around without cutting into his spleen.

I also felt that the animations were hit and miss. The "escorting a prisoner" walk animation doesn't even have a turn animation, you just rotate in place. And even though it's more of a game design choice than a graphics issue, the invisible walls were pretty excessive at times, especially when trying to get through the forest in act 1.

I completely understand that the people making this game probably didn't have an Assassin's Creed, L.A. Noire, or Uncharted size budget (especially in terms of Mo-Caping tech), so what they were able to do with The Witcher 2 is damned impressive. It's just annoying for me when a game looks this good in most areas but still has very noticeable (to me at least) issues that stop me from being completely immersed in the game.

Nah, it was my introduction into the series and I got pretty much everything in the plot. They'll explain more of the backstory as you go along.

If I remember correctly, that's used in the Iorveth path to get into the Rotfiend tunnels near the coast. Iorveth path doesn't have access to the camp's side door, like Roche's path does.

Aha! Thanks man that makes sense, didn't saw it in my Iorveth's path run because
i opted to infiltrate through the camp to reach the tunnels, instead of using the whore house to access them since it seemed the easy way
. At least i have another one cleared up. Now about that chest in Loredo's house :D

I bought this on Steam a week ago. Tried to play it early last night but discovered the LOL 9gig patch. Downloaded that and then played a bit, basically the intro.

Holy _fuckballs_ this is a good looking game! I can't remember the last time a game's graphics wowed me before this.

Here's what ubersampling does:

it renders the same full image a couple times and overlays them.

The result is it gives you some very very nice AA (which this game is jaggy as all hell even with AA) and essentially also gives you AF but does a very slight blur (which to me looks ultimately better in the long run since the sharpness looks pretty obvious at times for the wrong places.). With it off, some things are crisper, but to me there's a level where I'd rather take smoothed than jaggy every single time. With it on, the "weird shadows" are also much less apparent.

However this is always and forever going to be a very minor quality upgrade, and for most people it simply isn't worth the fps hit, especially even the top end people can barely use it.

I think that's one of the possible Mystic River mail boxes.

edit: actually, now that I read the description back again I'm probably thinking of the wrong one.

Inside Loredo's house at the guards quarter's, some of them sleeping when you enter. There's a chest at the feet of the bed, that's the one im talking about. There's another one in the back near a door that leads to a balcony, i always manage to open it with a key.

I don't know if there is anything new here, but GameBanshee did an interview with Gop right before he bailed. There is nothing in it regarding that situation, but he did say that there is supposed to be more free DLC coming out over the next few weeks.

I'll take anything new. Maybe new hair styles but not for Geralt's head.

My interactions w/ Loredo's mom involved:
- she shows up if you turn in the two tools to the authorities, from the Claws of Madness side-quest, she's the prostitute? they mention a woman in their story.
- killing her in the final mission for Roche

I played a bit tonight, the game's sound and visuals are amazing.

Am I the only one with some frame skipping at certain points?, I wonder if the game automatically skips some frames if the vcard is not good enough to render some scenes.

I dont think that my pc has bottlenecks or whatever, I already have the latest ATI driver with the hotfix, and the game is already updated
