I think you misunderstand. The clip I linked is one of the most "normal" looking scenes in the series. The artstyle for most of the series is a crazy sketchy style not all that unlike Kick-Heart's.

I love space planes to go along side big battleships. It gives it a real naval battle feel with big, bulky main battleships and small, quick fighters.
