I'm glad that's what they went with seeing as how that's what they wanted to do and what the PnP game is going for. Project Eternity will have my RTwP fix.

The latest update is typically wonderful - the insights into the design and development process that these guys share with us are simply terrific.

I'm very happy with the decision regarding combat, but at this stage, based on all they've shared with us thus far, I'd back in this team and their choices regardless. This game appears to be in very safe (and incredibly thoughtful and talented) hands.

personally I really enjoyed the part where they said combat is gonna be a minor part of the game. like seriously I couldn't care less about combat in a planescape game :I

They are using Pillar's of Eternity fantastic engine:

I’m happy to say that we’ve taken things a step further and recently reached an agreement to license Obsidian’s technology for Pillars of Eternity to use in Torment. (In case you haven’t seen it yet, a great Pillars of Eternity teaser came out last month – they are still accepting late pledges for any who missed their Kickstarter.) Torment’s code base will thus include the most relevant components of PE’s technology and Wasteland 2’s. We’re making enhancements to best suit Torment, and some systems will of course be completely new as Torment’s design is its own.

"At present, Jesse is blocking out levels and implementing basic quest mechanics for the first zone we’re fully implementing – the Bloom (the one I described in my Kickstarter video)."
