Toronto-Age |OT3| Going Off the Rails on a Gravy Train

Had a lousy experience both times I ate at Fresh. Their attempt at Falafel was so off the mark, and that's a vegetarian dish to begin with. Bizarre combination of flavours and sauces accompanied it; truly terrible food.

The other time I dined in with a friend. Had a burger made of almonds or some shit; it surprised me; was semi-decent if not wholly filling and satisfying, but the accompanying sides were basically a plate full of random roots and plants piled up in no order or pattern. I really felt like a rabbit being presented with feed. It was messy, unprofessional, food was practically falling off my plate as it was unceremoniously dumped at our table, which brings me to my final complaint; our server was the worst I've had in my life. Forgetful, blasé, inconsiderate, slow, borderline rude when I had a genuine question about a menu item; a tall pretty girl who was totally stuck up and full of herself.

Fuck Fresh. The hot dog stands are classier.

Wow, that's nuts. Everyone I know from Scarborough was always heading downtown for shopping, concerts etc.. that is crazy to think about because the distance is almost equal so I guess it is the TTC factor.

Oh yeah, GO trains and buses are expensive, run really infrequently, and have very poor coverage for teenagers. What other way of getting downtown is there if you don't drive? And even if you drive what's the point of struggling against downtown traffic?

You just hang out at the mall and stuff instead.

No more than two weeks is allowed to go by without either me or Stet being banned. It's in the secret GAF "who do we ban for no reason" directive.

I'm on the 28/1 at $70 (with tax) I believe (unlimited). I might stay on it since it won't be offered anymore.

That 150/10 is tempting though. But I fear I would burn through that cap at those speeds. With great power comes great responsibility.

Yea but we are getting unlimited from 2AM to 8AM now
Im on the 18/.5 plan. This would upgrade me to the 25/2 for free essentially which im not going to complain about.

I'm on the 28/1/300 cable for $53.05, taxes in, per month. I'm not sure if paying the extra would be worth it for me, as the only issue I've had with TS is YouTube videos load slowly sometimes. Based on what I've read on DSL reports, I'm not sure if faster service will really alleviate this (and I don't watch YouTube that much anyway).

Stompin' Tom died. I've been singing Sudbury Saturday Night in memoriam.

That's too bad. RIP.

YES. Been waiting on that TekSavvy news. Came close to switching back to Rogers a few times. I need upload beyond one measly megabit/sec.

Hope it rolls out soon.

I have no proof to this but that might not be a Teksavvy problem. I'm on Rogers and have the same issue pop up the last 4-5 months.

Either way though this new deal should be enough to push me over to cancelling Rogers. A friend of mine who lives nearby told me to look into Distributel. He has it and has nothign but great things to say about it.

I REALLY hope teksavvy offers the 35/5 and 45/7 packages that I think Rogers is offering their own customers. I'd happily pay for one of those. 85 bucks is too much for me for the 150/10 though still wayyyy better than rogers. I'm on the 28/1 so not looking for a big price jumpppp.

Friend of mine said Teksavvy DSL packages are going down also, my plan is dropping almost 10 bucks, amazing!

Those +1mbps uploads on cable are DAMN tempting though, shame the switch to cable would be expensive.

I probably should have worded that differently, but yes you are right, it's almost definitely not a Teksavvy problem. Seems to be numerous factors contributing to the slowdown, potentially YouTube themselves.

For those who were looking for the game like me, Game Shack in the Atrium downtown has a bunch of new copies of The Last Story (standard edition) for only $35! Great find.

Yes. Only a handful of people will really use the high end bandwidth to justify it, but I'm one of those users with as much as a download.

Wild Wing has REAAAAAALLLLYYYYY gone downhill lately. They used to have decent wings but they're really terrible now, same with the onion rings. I blame the expansion of their menu into stupid things like tacos.

I find my download speed more than adequate for most things. It's the upload speed that I need more of and I wish there was a package for that.

Are you going for unlimited or 300GB with overage charges?

We can live with 300gb. It's mostly having the speed on hand when we do need a quick download that's the advantage for us. We'd have to start going quite a bit over on a consistent basis to warrant paying for unlimited.

Or for Teksavvy to charge you. I've heard they are pretty lenient about bandwith and IIRC bandwidth is based on 2 month rolling averages.

I don't even believe they bother monitoring overage. I've never heard of anyone paying those fees and I do recall when there was a 'cap' before and when people kept asking them or trying to use their meter, they just said and showed it wasn't set up.

Gonna be liquidating my thousand-odd Marvel comics at Paradise Comics sometime in the next week. I expect a paltry 0.25-0.50c per issue (with some exceptions for the rarer ones). They're all from the 90's and the 00's for the most part, including nearly full runs of Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1, Ultimate X-Men Vol. 1, The New Avengers, The Mighty Avengers, Buffy Season 8, Angel -After the Fall-, The Age of Apocalypse from '95, Runaways Vol. 2, and the vast majority of the 00's for Uncanny X-Men and X-Men/New/Legacy (whatever name it went by at the time).

If anyone wishes to buy any chunk of this and intercept, let me know, haha. Would rather do a win-win with a gaffer than get totally low-balled at the store, but I mean, I'm just gonna be glaf to get these outta my life. Gave up comics some time ago and these are just taking up space. Most aren't even read, sadly.

This is about half of em, haha.

Bunch of trades/HCs too, including Batman (Dark Knight Returns, Year One, Hush, Killing Joke), Watchmen, Kingdom Come, 300, etc.

Anyone here play Magic? My friend is hosting a meetup at 401 Games and I guess it's mostly a few of our friends and he somehow roped in some redditors. He wouldn't say how many people (except 10-15) he has coming. It's this Saturday around 5pm. I don't think he'll mind an extra body of two but I'll be there if anyone is up for some fun. I haven't played it physically in a few years and haven't kept up either, but excited to be playing face-to-face with people again.

Indeed.

That is why I have been on a health kick to get my 'summer body' ready.

I shall be naked all day, erry day.

I hear ya man. Minus this afro that I'm growing at the worst time possible! Depending how humid I get I may just say screw it and cut it all off.
