I've rewatched Twin Peaks several times since it's first TV run. Can't wait to do so again in glorious 1080p. Hope there's lossless audio. Also, 90 minutes of FWWM deleted scenes? Amazing.
I wish i could afford it...I've been a fan since they were on the air. My Sis, who is also a big fan, has been wanting to do the same...We'll have to plan a family reunion there one day.
Speaking of which, am I the only person to have watched and enjoyed "On the Air"?

As far as I know they only aired (3) episodes even though it claims that all were shown. I think my local affiliate just preempted them with something else. In any case, I managed to find a Japanese release that had them all. Very quirky comedy and very Lynch.

I'm not clear on the background here (havent seen FWWM yet) but why are these scenes cut / so hard to get ahold of / thought to be never seen again? Some weird rights issues? Are they enough to actually make its own movie of (its 90s minutes), why were they cut originally anyway? sorry lost on this

I've seen all of On the Air as well. I love the bootmakers episode. It's far from my favorite comedy, but it wasn't a long season to get through and it was nice seeing a lot of the same faces.
Long story short, the shooting script for FWWM attempted to find parts for nearly all of the main characters from the TV show. Furthermore, when cut together the whole thing was nearly four hours long.
Lynch realized that the film should focus mainly on Laura's final few days. The extraneous scenes were cut, and in doing so the film became a LOT darker.
Lynch has long wanted to release these scenes, but he has been very particular on the conditions in which he would allow this to happen and they can't be released without his approval. Basically what he wanted to happen, now has. He wanted the extra scenes to all be properly graded, mixed and scored. He did not want to do an extended cut.
None of the previous people behind various releases of FWWM have wanted to pay for that work, so it hasn't happened. It's probably taken tying it into the box set to justify a large expense remastering the scenes given that FWWM was a pretty expensive flop at the cinema with even less of a cult following now than the TV show.
Espescially for people that don't love the movie (I do... it's scary and disturbing and wonderful) because it lacked the warmth and humour of the TV series (which I've always felt was fair enough... but you don't put jokes in a movie about child abuse) these scenes represent one final chance to see more scenes of characters they haven't seen since the TV show having quirky fun interactions together.
And with the new extra featuring David Lynch interviewing the characters from the show... this is by far the biggest slice of new material since FWWM.
I couldn't be more excited.

Pre-ordered, I am really excited to this. I only for some reason owned Season 2 of Twin Peaks on DVD (got it cheap from a Half-Price Bookstore in pretty good condition), so this should be something.

Just watched the finale black lodge stuff for the first time in about 25 years. Kind of lightheaded, no joke.

As a fellow "cannot do horror whatsoever" person, you'll be good. There is plenty of weird things, but no gore. I haven't seen the film though, maybe someone else can chime in on that.

I cannot disagree with this sentiment enough.
Even without the film, the show contains the most terrifying imagery I've ever seen. It has nothing to do with gore, Lynch drills down to the subconscious horror inside all our little brains and projects into a 4:3 frame.
This show haunted me literally for years after it aired. Pretty much from the third episode of the series on, there's imagery you'll never be able to scrub out, and it will scare you literally for the rest of your life.
Don't listen to this guy. Twin Peaks isn't just the scariest show that's ever aired on TV, it contains the scariest sequences ever filmed with a camera.
I'm convinced that the "epilogue" mentioned in the product description is simply referring to the FWWM deleted scene that shows Annie in the hospital, after the events of the TV series. This scene is in the FWWM script and has been known of for quite some time (though never seen).
Most likely the tweet is in reference to new interviews with said cast members, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
I associate horror with gore, which is why I said that. If terror or suspense is concerning, then don't take the chance. I don't think I realized how many people were impacted by this show until I read this thread. For me, it had so many goofy moments, that even when something that was supposed to be terrifying or scary happens, I could never take it seriously. But don't get me wrong, I love the show.
Either way, take my word for it, nobody should ever listen to "this guy." Except that.

Heh, yeah, not for me. I know there's a ton of goofy stuff, but Lynch's mastery of that kind of awful quiet stillness and then operatic loud terror was never more acute than in this show (and later in the film). It's not even traditional "horror movie" stuff. In Cooper's first dream, the way he intercuts LMFAP dancing with his back turned with all the other footage, as a viewer, you're like "holy fuck don't turn around whatever you are I don't want to see that shit" and then he turns around and you're like "oh god that's kind of creepy" and then he STARTS TALKING and I'm not kidding, I like jumped up. A tiny little 13 year old kid watching his black and white TV.
Still the scariest thing I've ever seen in my life, that moment when he turns around and claps his hands. Everything after that, BOB climbing over the couch, BOB's head flashing onto Leland's body, every second of the finale's Black Lodge stuff, just compounded on top of that one single moment when Lynch just snapped reality in half.

No, I referenced this earlier in the thread, aside from the "epilogue" which was already shot from FWWM (which you see footage from in the trailer) the press release says that Lynch is shooting interviews between him, LELAND, LAURA, AND SARAH.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW.

It's on the FWWM soundtrack CD, though, strangely enough. An instrumental version of it appears briefly in the movie.

I am thinking of re-watching the series for a month before the BluRay set comes out.
If you already know all the spoilers but haven't seen the show in a long time, is it better to watch in chronological order or release order? Fire Walk With Me, and then the TV series? Or TV series followed by Fire Walk With Me?
