Here comes the internet hate mob making things worse.

Figures. Dude had anger issues, didn't have enough empathy to realize that this was his problem, convinced himself that the reason people didn't like him was because of his race. Being escorted out by police doesn't necessarily mean anything, though. Everyone had to be escorted out by security when they left my last job, just as a matter of protocol.

The actual quote from the station manager, albeit paraphrased, was "He did not handle the firing well and had to be escorted from the building by police." It was directly implied the police were called because he would not leave.

And it's not even as though it were a split-second situation. He stood around and looked around for a few seconds before he fired.

It was crazy. Really felt like a first-person shooter, but it was real life, and it was absolutely disturbing.

I saw the first video, but I dont know if I want to see the POV video, dont think I wanna be stuck with that in m head

Adrenaline was the only thing that kept her up and running, actually.

Also the initial shots may have been minor. I personally know someone who got hit in the arm and it lodged in the chest. Walked 2 miles, took a bus to the hospital and didn't realize he had been hit in the chest until he was in the ER.

General Manager of WDBJ discussing the killer:

"Angry man"

"Quickly became....gathered a reputation as a man difficult to work with."

"Looking for things to take offense to."

"Eventually after many incidents of his anger...we had to dismiss him."

"Did not take it well...had to be escorted from the building."

"None of his accusations could be corroborated in any way."

"Talked to everyone...diverse workplace...we got nothing about it."

"EEOC dismissed his claim out of hand...and that was that."

Wait, is this just a random comment on the story? Or did they actually post that? Looks like the comment section to me.

It's not the comment section: The Salad Bowl isn't Gawker proper. It's apparently a place where commenters can set up their own blogs and such.

an edit has been added to the bottom of that "article."

ETA 2: Apparently this article was shared somewhere and now I’m getting responses from racist trolls. I don’t give a fuck about them but I just want to make it clear that I am NOT a paid Gawker writer.

edit: The Salad Bowl Community Guidelines page.

Take it from someone who always lets morbidly curiosity get the better of him - don't watch it. Even if you've seen way "worse" videos, this is different.

If Sandy Hook didn't change anything, this shooting most likely won't either, unfortunately.

Maybe no individual incident can change the way America thinks about guns, but I still believe that when the bucket of bad news gets full enough that there will eventually be enough public support for SOME sort of control.

Ahhh, I see. Big chip on his shoulder, sounds like.

Not defending this, but remember that Kinja is Gawker's "anyone with an account can write a post" kind of thing. This looks to be one of those instances and not Gawker proper.

True, but let's be real - Gawker gives people platforms to spin this kind of crap. No one should be speculating about shit right now.

Jesus F. Christ, Gawker.

This is a random persons blog on Kinja, the web platform gawker uses. Its like wordpress or blogger.

That isn't gawker's staff posting that, its not in anyway affiliated with them

they even updated this to say

Then so does neogaf, twitter, google, tumblr, etc.

A bunch of white kids got shot down and America wasn't moved. I think the only way to progress is for the old guard to die.

This has been said ad nauseam, even in this own thread. You have to acknowledge that right to bear arms is a fundamental human right guaranteed at the formation of our nation, and thus no matter how 'moved' Americans may be, it is not a right that can revoked easily. I wish we didn't have that right, honestly, having lived in a gun-free country before... but it's something that we have to live with until America is no more, it seems. Blame the short-sighted 'founding fathers' for this bullshit.

The guy probably felt like the world was out to get him and nobody would listen, and this was his only recourse.

I'm interested in finding out if he was seeing discrimination where there was none or if he was driven to acting like a fucking evil scumbag due to legit issues within the workplace.

Once he held the gun up in the POV video I had to turn it off.

Yeah, same. A group of us were watching it and my stomach turned when he held the gun up. He was way too close for comfort. They told me it wasn't graphic and the first shot still missed her though, then the camera goes dark?
