Oh, NO THEY DIDN'T.

As both an American and a Brit I'm offended in every way imaginable!

In a nutshell, it's because thirteen years of Labour has left people with a sense of entitlement which the Tories are promising to do away with.

Holy shit, what are we not entitled to? good health care? free schools?

I don't think anyone seriously hates Cameron for 'his past' except perhaps jealous class warriors (ie traditional old Labour support). You can go to Eton and not be extremely right-wing, just as much as you can go to a state school and not come out a communist. The problem is that Dave lives up to the stereotypes with some of his views.

That cover has got to backfire, surely?

Which one?

if you mean the mirrors then dont expect any big interviews or anything regarding access during the next parliament. I am amazed that nobody at the mirror thought this might be going a bit to far. there is rooting for a candidate but then there is suicide.

I just saw a bit on a news program in my country, and they interview Clegg, and he speaks fluently Dutch. I mean really fluently. Like a native. It really surprised me. :lol

I know he is a Brit with Dutch mom and French dad that has studied in Belgium, worked in Monaco, volunteered in Germany, has a Japanese Girlfriend, a Chinese Dog and lives in Ireland.... ;) But I didn't know he spoke Dutch.

Ok PoliGaf,

I don't want the Tories in power.

Who's ass do I have to suck to get Labour to stay in power?

Do I straight up vote for Labour or use my vote tactically and vote for the Lib Dems?

As Alex Ferguson once said:

They say he’s an intelligent man, right? Speaks five languages! I have a 15-year-old boy from the Ivory Coast who speaks five languages,”

I grew up with my family reading the good old currant bun and I usually buy it when I'm back visiting the UK for a laugh but that's it, I'm boycotting the shit out of all Murdoch papers as of today. Enough is enough, hijacking the Obama meme in service of a politician and a party that stands for everything Obama doesn't is a fucking insult.

Depends on your constituency. Both The Mirror and Independent have a list of how to vote in what constituency.

get over it. so what if they use a meme that has come to represent change and hope. DC actually represents that, while labour is a sinking ship.

Change for the worse, and hope for the rich establishment elite. Everyone else is fucked under the leadership of that chinless ponce.

Eh, are you assuming I posted this to illustrate that Clegg is a brilliant man...? Because I didn't.

no, its just i used that with my friend, Bleepy, when he mentioned the language thing earlier.

Awesome. As an American I salute Rupert Murdoch and his people for coming up with that, I never thought I'd actually be happy with Rupert Murdoch.

With any luck we'll get someone good in 10 Downing Street, and not Clegg.

As Alex Ferguson once said:

Does that somehow make either of them any less intelligent when it comes to adopting languages? But hey, I'm pretty sure Alex wouldn't obviously be voting for a specific party based solely on the amount he owns.

Do you mean Nick Clegg? You must mean Nick Clegg.

My housemate went to the same school as Brown and the same college at Oxford as Cameron (er, not at the same time as either).

I'm not sure if he's got any links to Clegg. Maybe he's out to collect the set.

It's odd watching this.

Its super-impressive. The two things I admire most about Nick Clegg is his well-rounded culture and the fact that he isnt religious.

I should add ill be voting Conservative xD

Off course they can use it. But it's ironic that they do.

Alex Ferguson has actually donated money to the Labour party and is a long time public supporter of them.

It depends on if your seat is up for grabs by Labour. My constituency can't be won by Labour, so a Labour supporter would tactically vote for LD to deny the Conservatives a seat. Look into your constituency, see if they stand a chance.

if you are implying that alex is a tory then you would be mistaken, he is a labour donor.

I congratulate Clegg for speaking multiple languages but it doesnt effect how I see him.

Me neither, so I find it weird why you'd post that quote. But let's move on from this I guess.

As much as I hate to say it, The Sun destroyed The Mirror in this particular cover war. The Mirror landed a good blow with its tactical voting guide but I think they should have saved that one for today.

Although the sentiment of that fake Obama poster makes me sick, I think it's probably The Sun's most effective piece of pre-election propaganda since this one:

If%20Kinnick%20Wins-st.jpg

That was the one that led to "It Was The Sun Wot Won It", IIRC? Why do I get the feeling history is about to repeat itself...

Weirdly, he most represents preservation and, in some areas, even regression out of the three. "Change" is a little more than a buzzword, particularly when used by the Conservative Party.

It's a new seat, but here are what the results would have been in 2005 if it had existed then.

http://ukpollingreport.co.uk/guide/seat-profiles/gateshead

Should be a very safe labour hold, so you can vote with your conscience.

Sage00 said:
Vote for who you want, Tories aren't going to win your seat without a major upset.

brain_stew said:
The Tories are getting nowhere near that seat, vote for whoever's policies you agree with.

Thanks for the help and info guys,

Greatly appreicated :D
