A vote yet to be taken!

One of the candidates dies in some constituency so the election will be held on the 28th of may i think

Considering the exit polls aren't allowed to be released before 10pm to stop them from influencing people's votes it seems pretty messed up that the last constituency will be voting 3 weeks after the election results have come out especially after all this has happened.

The Mail's really wheeling out the old chestnuts. "Unelected PM, defying the will of the voters, holding Britain to ransom!" You can tell Tory HQ must've panicked massively over this. :lol

Haha,

"Two Faced Clegg"[/QUOTE]

:lol :lol :lol Holy shit. The only headline I've ever seen that was this bad and emotive was one in a political comedy: "Prime Minister is a bigger prat than what we told you at the last election". And that was meant to be from the Daily Mail as well!

My country has been in a constant government crisis since 2007. We've had coalition talks for 194 days, and up till today we're still in crisis because the government has fallen again (it's happened like 5 times in 3 years) a few weeks ago and we'll go voting in June. Basically, it means that de facto we haven't had a decent government in 3 years. Yet, our economy is still here. I'm not saying the absence of a government has no negative effect on the economy at all, but a country like the UK will definitely manage. Stop worrying about the Pound and Stock Index and such for now. It's been only 4 days...
Where do you live?

i disagree; its populist shit.
I think we're all just amazed to see The Star actually leading with a real political story on its front page rather than just the latest Jordan/Big Brother/I'm a Celebrity bullshit.

the best thing is that it's spoiled their [the right wing press] big day. brown finally resigning should have been like birthday and christmas rolled into one for them; having waited for it for years, they should be celebrating his departure with champagne and confetti, but it's been completly and utterly ruined for them, and i for one am loving it.

Gove on Newsnight saying that the tories are also moving towards the Lib Dems' position on raising the tax threshold.

Tactical masterstroke by Clegg if he is still planning on going with the Tories.

Labour are saying there WILL be a referendum on AV now?
It'll be introduced, made law... and then they'll have a referendum on whether to keep it that way or get rid of it.

... :lol

If they're backtracking to ease their members Clegg wont take it.

He'd say something like "You were going to make it law 4 hours ago. Now you're not. I think... sorry actually I've got Dave on the other line I'll have to call you back... or not."

Conservative David Gold tweets: It's time for Clegg to grasp the enormity of this situation, show real leadership and put country before party. Get on with it.

Haha! Its funny how last week/this weekend he was praised for putting the country first, and when the conservatives push him away through putting their party before the country he suddenly becomes the worst man in existence

Well Labour MP Tom Harris just made a pretty robust argument for keeping FPTP electoral system on Newsnight and interestingly he said that he personally would not vote for anything more than the manifesto pledge of a referendum on AV. So basically as it stands now, the two parties are only promising the Lib Dems a referendum on AV, nothing more except perhaps an 'aspiration' of the current Labour leadership for eventual PR.

Just like the Lisbon Treaty, huh? (sigh)

Apparently lots of Scottish Labour MP's do NOT want to have a shared government with the SNP. They fucking HATE the SNP. Some of it's even quite vile.

Ming Campbell hates the SNP as well. He was one of the main reasons an SNP-Lib Dem coalition did not emerge in the Scottish parliament.
