What's the average price for a cafe fry up around the country? In London it's between 4 and 6 quid unless you got to a fancy place.

Just went to one near my flat for the first time (usually it's closed at the weekends, wtf?) and I thought it was pretty good value. Two slices of bacon, egg, 2 sausage, 3 big thick slices of black pudding, chips, beans, toast and a drink for £4.95.

No good without a fried potato scone. Those are delicious.

There's a place near me (milton, glasgow) that does 2 sausage( links/ lorne), egg, 2 p/scone, fried slice/toast, 2 bacon, beans/tomatoes/mushrooms and black pudding for £3.50. Tea is 90p.

Sounds wholesome. I'd kill for a fry up right now... :-/

It can be as low as about £3 if you're either somewhere a bit out of the way like Bridgwater or Southport or somewhere with a lot of competition, like Cardiff on a matchday or Blackpool.

Otherwise it seems to come out around a fiver, though they vary a lot in quantity and quality. Best I had recently was about £4 in Cornwall, but about double the amount of everything that I usually get.

I do find a lot of trouble these days finding anywhere that's actually open at breakfast-time. They don't seem to do breakfast at all in Woking for example.

Just got back from Manchester.

Checked out the Food Court for that BBQ place, Meadows. Had the chicken strips and my dad had the BBQ wings.

SO. FUCKING. GOOD!
Best chicken I've ever had.

Thanks for clueing us in ;)

There's a greasy spoon near where I live that does a fry up for £4.80. Two sausages, two eggs, plenty of bacon, 2 waffles/4 fried bread/4 toast, beans, mushrooms/tomatoes, tea/coffee, one type of juice. It's actually a pretty decent price.

Also, is that Fentimans stuff sold in Tesco? I had a quick snoop in the Tesco Metro on Market Street but we couldn't see anything :/

Might have to look in the MegaTesco near me.

-------

BTW, anyone here have any experience working with Max Spielmann? Probably a long shot, but the whole reason I was mooching about town was because I had a job interview there this morning.

What is the majestic place you speak of? Googling yielded no results.

What is this, the daily Arndale foodcourt review thread?

Thats 3 we've had now with Taco Bell, BBQ joint and Panchos (not foodcourt granted)

Next up someone reviews KFC

My local cafe charges £9.50 for a fry up. No drink included (a black coffee is £2.40).
Apparently its so expensive because they only cook with "the freshest, local, ingredients".

Will never, ever, pay that much for a goddamn breakfast.

If you ever want to pay that much for a breakfast go here:

http://www.harvester.co.uk/breakfast/

Had one the morning after seeing the Foo Fighters at the Milton Keynes Bowl.

So so good.

I'm not impressed by these faux-quaint Country Garden Kitschens either. Maybe I will be in 30 years time when I can spend my entire morning in one.

So, because I'm bored off my arse and want a break from Uni work I decided to tally up the political preferences of UK-GAF:

I guess because we're not near an election a lot of people haven't made up their minds or been convinced.

Interestingly high amount of tories.

Would any of you gents be able to sort me out with an Orange Wednesdays code?
(Text Film to 241)

I'm going to see a film tonight with flatmates and I don't want to be financially bummed for the privilege. [/tight]

because NeoGAF is generally considered to be left wing, and because the results actually trend relatively similarly to countrywide opinion polling (sans UKIP)

Yeah, but isn't GAF considered 'left-wing' as in USA-style left wing, which is roughly equivalent to middle-ground Tories over here?

I thought just generally kind of angsty, young, naive progressives. The results suprised me anyway (especially the amount of people who didn't care)

I think you made an error in the OP, you put Lib Dem instead of tory.

Give it 2 months and he'll be voting UKIP.

nah, I'll start the SmokyDave/Meadows Front.

Policies:

- Reinstate the word spastic into popular usage, especially in official documents
- Start encouraging casual racism towards ethnic minorities on the condition that such abuse is followed by "cracking food though"
- Wall off London
- Make it so that the condition for Scotland to have independence is Salmond having a "normal" BMI
- Ban bollocks sports such as handball, rhythmic gymnastics and water polo from the olympics (and move the olympics to Basingstoke the day before they start without telling anyone)
- Instantly judge a case 'not guilty' if the jury think that the defendant is "a bit of a character"

Vote SDMF!

SDMF sounds like a porn genre

I'm all for walling off London, seeing the rest of the country slide into the dark ages without us financing it would be a glorious site to behold.

As long as the wall goes around the London postal district only and doesn't include all the Johnny come latelys with TW, EN, RM DA and other ludicrous 'London' post codes, you've got my vote.

no, but like without food.

you'd all have to survive on shit fried chicken shops and would die of food poisoning, leaving Manchester to take its rightful place as capital of the everything

Didn't Scousistan get that award too?

Shows how much it's worth I guess.

Capital of Culture was actually pretty amazing for Liverpool.

Edit* not in terms of being proud that we got it, just that it has really helped transform Liverpool over the past 5/6 years.
