The last 3 albums I bought were the Tron Legacy remix album (Electronica), Anthem by Less Than Jake (Ska-punk) and Conditions Of My Parole by Puscifer (chilled out Prog-like, fronted by Tool's Maynard). It's safe to say that my music taste is pretty eclectic, although I was a strict metalhead for many years.
Anthem by Less Than Jake (Ska-punk)
I was (and still am). I also said that it led to me liking metal, not Nu-Metal, which I've liked for many years. I haven't been a metal fan since I was born, dude!I thought you said you were more in to punk and ska when you were younger?
Hello Rockview is an amazing album!Nice! Losing Streak and Hello Rockview are better though
EDIT: there are people from edinburgh in this thread? lololol
Buncha greebos in here stinkin' up the place.
I liked Papa Roach when they came out, and I like them even more now. For me they have gotten better and better.
And yeah, Amen and Glassjaw were good. But never as good as Korn. Speaking of have you heard their new stuff? I actually love it.
Offspring albums for me would be
Ignition > Smash > Self-Titled > Ixnay > Americana > Conspiracy of One >>>>>>> haven't listened to the others.
A lot of my friends don't get my musical tastes. While I love the usual shit I also really like stuff like My Chemical Romance, The Rasmus, Him etc, all the stuff people normally hate. But I ain't no sheep (surprised at how many rockers are) so I like what I like regardless.
I just bought Metric's new album. It's good.
It's certainly not-Fantasies. Works much more as background music, I think. Will be good soundtrack to parties.I was really let down by it. I wanted Fantasies v2, this new one seems to be light on choruses.

Parties where people talk and have fun!Yeah, boring parties where everyone is sitting down doing heroin Fantasies was music for SUMMER! And BONKING!
Much like Claudio Sanchez from Coheed And Cambria, except he writes comics and sings in a prog band. Good music too, if you can get past the severe amount of over-dubbing he uses.I do love a bit of MCR though, I have a mancrush on Gerard Way. The guy writes comics and sings in a punk band, how cool is that??

Eww, no thanks The music is OK (from IV, I really hate the "woah-oo-oo-ooo"-ness of the first few records) but his comics are almost embarrassingly bad. It reminds me a lot of Richard Kelly talkign about 'graphic novels' on the Donnie Darko commentaries or while makng Southland Tales. the ambition is admirable, but it's clear that they have no idea of how comics work. Gerard Way otoh channels pure joy into his books (ably assisted by Gabriel Ba) and they work both in high-concept craziness as well as character relationships.
/nerd
I really dunno which I prefer between Fantasies and Synthetica.
Old World Underground, of course

I never really loved Korn, although my girlfriend was almost a little too into them at the time, was a little creepy. The metal that I got into in 6th Form was mostly to tide me over until I discovered post-hardcore, at which point I knew I had found my backpack-wearing people (for a time until they all started dying their hair black and listening to Funeral for A Friend ). But I like the aggression and speed and sharpness of hardcore/punk as opposed to the slower, more Doomy sound that you get from metal.
Nowadays I hardly listen to any heavy music. Something happened to me and now I find metal really silly, it's so uniform and humourless and samey. It's funny because the music I make is apocalypically heavy, but just not in a way that fits easily into a genre. I think the heaviest stuff I'm into now is Russian Circles and Future of the Left. They're ear bleedingly heavy, but it's not so much about wearing black and talking about my dark feelings any more.
These days my favourite bands are Los Campesinos!, Slow Club and Bright Eyes. I call it my pussy music
I do love a bit of MCR though, I have a mancrush on Gerard Way. The guy writes comics and sings in a punk band, how cool is that??
BGBW are you more a jpop or kpop kind of person?
You mean Live it Out, obviously. I'm not a fan of Emily's lisp on OWU. That song Succexy is a mess of sibilances, I can never quite tell if it's her voice or the recording. But ether way I find it hard to listen to.
Man, I'm in a well contrarian mood today, sorry peeps
Oh sorry, it's just the way you said it made it sound like you only listened to metal and nothing else before getting in to other stuff.
I honestly find it difficult keeping up with all the different sub-genres, it seems there's a new one each week! I have no idea what most of them are. For me it's just metal, rock (I will allow hard rock and soft rock), punk, ska, and pretty much everything can fit into those.
I've not heard of Russian Circles, Future of the Left, Los Campesinos!, or Slow Club. I think I've heard of Bright Eyes but don't know if I've heard anything by them. I will check them out on your recommendation, always looking for new stuff to listen to!
Have you heard Threat Signal? I bought an old album based on a friend's ravings and really, really like them.
Future of the Left are a lot of fun.
Live It Out is, to me, a collection of good songs that are so damn close to being great, but I feel like they're always waiting to go somewhere they never do. The title track is a particularly bad offender. I can never place my finger on why the songs irritate me so much... good album, anyway. Police and Private is a cracking track.
But meanwhile, OWU has Hustle Rose. Hnnnnnng.

SNES music is so tinny and low quality.

You mean once it stopped you stealing from the artists?I stopped using that since they changed the terms.
This is the way.I just changed how I use it. It's pretty much a sampling tool now. When I run out of minutes, I just go to YouTube if there's something I want to check out. If there's something I'm listening to a lot, I just buy it...

Heavy metal is a complete Racket, I'm not enjoying lurking this page AT ALL.
Los Campesinos! are an indie band with about 7 members. They specialise in slightly overwrought lyrics paired with awesome music. They make me feel pure joy. They're quite varied, so here's an oldie and a newie - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nj6SO_yKMe8 & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPz00pX0kMU (this one has a particualrly great video, maybe a little nsfw though)
Slow Club are like the greatest sweetest boy-girl duo in the world. Fantastic songs, lvoely music and Rebecca has maybe the best female vocal I've ever heard. Seen them live twice now and she is spot on every time. I have a hard time thinking of one song, so heres a few - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac6mXE7UT4E & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiViJkz10nw&feature=relmfu & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npnbjh75HjE (I was at this gig!!)
Couldn't the same be said of the SNES? The Mega Drive did have a better bass, but the SNES was better at replicating instruments. Depends on the genre really. Mega Drive could do electronic whereas the SNES could do orchestral.SNES music is so tinny and low quality.
Mega Drive was incredible, but you had to have a composer who knew what they were doing.
If I wanted to steal from artists I'd just download the music, would get better quality sound to. I used Spotify to listen to songs I already owned but were stored on my home desktop. You mean once it stopped you stealing from the artists?
OH GOD CONSOLE WARCouldn't the same be said of the SNES? The Mega Drive did have a better bass, but the SNES was better at replicating instruments. Depends on the genre really. Mega Drive could do electronic whereas the SNES could do orchestral.
