They have indeed. But what I'm saying is the majority of the work force in the stores still want to come accross as passionate, helpful and the rest of it. I bet they wish the company they work for could roll back the time.

My local Game store shut down just after Christmas. No warning at all, it was there one week, the next it was gone.
The two weeks after it was a Greggs Bakery lol.

I have yet to check out the sundries, I feel bad as its pretty much across the road from the 'local' non-chain bakery.

Game is fucked think the only way out for them is to go bankrupt, then someone could buy a slimmed down chain of stores just one in each town not 2 (or even 3 as there are in some places) it would get costs down dramatically and the new chain could have a future, would suck though for the thousands that would lose their jobs but it really would be the only way

EDIT: I also want to say that anyone who defends game, their practices or the way they educated their staff (i.e. not at all), then they are a complete cock.
Their headoffice staff are just as unhelpful as the ones in the store. Turns out a guy who told me to call back and speak to him today actually does not ever work on Friday.

Jesus fucking Christ! You'd expect to see this kind of thing from a dodgy local builder being investigated on The Ferret, not a high street chain.
I'd get onto Trading Standards pronto, and possibly a lawyer cos that's a lot of money.

For £1300 I would go anyway, and demand repayment of expenses on top of that. As said, call trading standards. They will get on it sharp style.

I had to make a new account on Gamestation as they seemingly had disabled my account from using another code to get money off even though I didn't get it the first time.
Has gone through now so I got the stuff I wanted.
Sorry to hear about your problems, but not all stores are born equally - some have the most competent managers and staff others do not.
Couldn't you have just rang up your bank and reported that you suspected unusual activity on the card. Then you would of had your consoles, less the hassle to deal with Game?
If it makes you feel any better it happens in all high street retailers from time to time. Best thing to do is buy online.

Seeing garbage like that makes me want to weep, that's not even an actual deal, it's just something lazily slapped together to fill a gap. As someone who spends most of his week making sure the store looks pristine and laid out correctly, that is insulting.

Oh dear. We have something similar in our store, but the writing says "Hey, you got a £5 off voucher in your PS Vita pre-order box, if you buy a £5 PSN card you can get any of these great titles from the store!" Obviously not word for word, but to that effect. I think it's good for reminding people they had some money off codes in that pre-order box way back when they received it, and it advertises the £5 network cards too. More likely to get a £5 network card sale than a £35 one IMO.

I too have found their customer service on the phone to be frustrating. One thing in particular that annoyed me is that they removed the phone lines to individual stores and instead ask you to call a single 08** number that offers no real help. If I was in your position I would explore legal options. Dealing with these high street stores is such a contrast to dealing with online retailers who, ironically, are easier to get in contact with and resolve problems relating to items. Let me refer to one experience I had with Amazon. I spent closes to £900 on a camera, used it for 2 weeks and realised I actually needed the money so I merely contacted them and said "Look, the item is not faulty but I've realised I can't afford it in hindsight, is it possible to get some kind of refund?" "Of course, sir. We'll schedule a pick up in the morning and your debit card will be refunded the full cost".

Amazon are god tier for that sort of thing. It's one of the reasons I'll buy stuff from them even when it's more expensive than at other places.
Were the games shown or was it just a poster with that text? If it just said you get 6 games and you had to go and find out what they were before you bought the console then that's the funniest thing I've seen all week. NeoGaf needs the lol smiley back to truly convey how hopelessly desparate this bundle makes them look.

He'd tell us to make our own POS for our own bundles (note: bundle, not Deals, because you don't save any money. You're just forced to buy more shit you don't need). We'd sell Wiis at Christmas with "20 essential accessories"...fishing rod, light gun, wrist strap, gel cover etc
Yup, had a ring with a defect I gave as a gift. Ring was about 100$ and repair (not done by amazon) cost 40.
I told amazon and they gave me 80$.
Took less than 5 minutes.
That's why best buy/gamestop/target would literally have to give me foot massages and charge 50% less for me to ever go into one of their stores.

Ps there are 3 greggs on my high street, two separated by one shop.
By this point I would report it to the bank as fraud. If the bank dithers about that definition, tell them you have made many good-faith attempts to contact the company to get them to refund the money and they haven't complied, so that means they're now attempting to defraud you. The suggestion of contacting Trading Standards is also a good one.

Got mass effect 3 CE and sf x t CE. preordered from the site I like the reward point aspect but I have very little faith in the site
Bought my Vita, games and accessories at Game. Was getting worried toward launch that they would shut up shop before the launch of the Vita and i'd be stuck with store credit of around £100, luckily that didn't happen. Will be my last console launch where i buy in store, i'll be using amazon from now on. I had a problem with amazon where I bought 2 games with express delivery, one was on time the other was delivered 2 days late. After 5 mins of speaking to someone I was refunded the P&P for BOTH items!

Yeah they do have some dodgy tactics in-stores, best example is Gamecare swaps, take out gamecare on your console and we will let you have xxx game instead of FIFA in this overpriced pack.
I was let go from GAME group (2010) following year they announced a massive GAME convention (GAMEfest 2011) to be held at Birmingham NEC, after that I knew the company was just bollocks.
Yeah let all the staff go and close store BUT we can afford the NEC for 3 day hire, charge people £10 a ticket, fat lot of good that did.
