As a non employee of GMG I really want to hear this bulletin.

But I guess the message was "We aren't closing down, we aren't closing down, don't believe everything you read on the internet. Hum your favourite song, crouch in the fetal position, stick fingers in ears and remember not to panic."
Nah, it was just instructions on how to process the refund transaction for new releases we aren't stocking (i.e Resident Evil: ORC), and a footnote reminding us of the company's internet posting policy. It comes every time there's an announcement on what GAME/Gamestation isn't stocking.

The CE? Check the price at the till. It was marked at full price in my local but only £20 when scanned

I could only find one copy, the standard 360 version on the floor. I don't mind if its the CE or not, but I can't find anything. My store sucks. Might get Space Marine if it's still there the next time i pop in.

Holy shit at some of these prices, lol

Have GAME in Sheffield been wiped out or is it worth visiting tomorrow?

If you want 360 stuff, it's not actually that bad.

PS3 stock is an absolute shambles right now.

Gamestation were far better on all fronts if you don't mind a walk onto The Moor.

I'm curious to see if checkeredknight or any other employees got the hilarious bulletin message about "the internet" as well today.

No comment. :)

I haven't been in today so I've no idea what this message is; I'm sure I'll find out tomorrow. At this stage, with us not knowing if we're even keeping our jobs or not, I'm a little past caring to say the least.

I bought Trauma Centre Wii from the site on Friday and not hear anything from them yet. It was only £2, but it's a been a good few days without word.

We could always just come together and start our own games specialist shop. GAF Games. Brera could handle finances!

Is it likely that PS3 consoles (new or preowned) will go down in price any further just before they enter administration after failing to pay their rent on the 25th? Assuming that's what's going to happen of course.

Aim for the £149.99 new 320gb with a game (uncharted) if you can find it. You'll never find the £99 new ones now.

Anything below that is unlikely on my opinion since they'll walk out of stores at that price. Staff members have apparently been buying stock up themselves at 149 too.

No Kid Icarus either...

Eurogamer said:
Nintendo has confirmed that 3DS game Kid Icarus: Uprising won't be available to buy in GAME and Gamestation.

Its list of shops selling the 3DS title does not include the struggling high street retailer - thought to be facing administration.

Uprising will be available to buy on the high street from the following shops: Argos, Asda, Blockbuster, Tesco, Dixons Stores Group, GameStop, HMV, Sainsbury's, Smyths Toys and Toys R Us.

Online, you can get it from Amazon, The Hut, JohnLewis.com, Littlewoods.com, Play.com, zavvi.co.uk, and "most good games retailers", Nintendo said.

You can pre-order from Amazon.co.uk, GameStop, Littlewoods.com, Play.com and zavvi.co.uk. It launches on Friday, 23rd March.

The news comes as no surprise: GAME failed to stock many of Nintendo's 2012 games, including The Last Story and Mario Party 9, and the Nintendo distributed Tekken 3D: Prime Edition.

So it sounds like actually if I want a cheap PS3, eBay is the best bet?

I ALMOST feel sorry for them... watching the desperate price cuts to try and get cash in the bank is almost like when you see an alcoholic realise they are in a genuine mess, but carry on drinking.

Personally I hope they go bust or the entire management team is replaced if they get sold.

It would be the worst possible thing for the UK consumer to have Game stay as it is. The reason they have failed, despite being the pre-eminent UK game retailler is because they care nothing for the consumer experience, and everything for how much they can upsell you at the point of sale.

I want us to have a strong UK retailler, I just don't want it to be game.

Bizarrely they seem to have raised most of the prices again now. No idea why, I doubt that will encourage sales.

Went in today, lot's of 48p FIFA's nothing much else of any worth, also went into Cash Converters to see if they had any retro stuff but it was a shelf full of PS1 & 2 sports titles. Forgot to go into Gamestation though thats probably where all the good stuff is.

Haha okay then :p Just saw it and thought it was interesting! Don't really know anything about shares, so i didn't know anything more.

Would any shares I own still have worth if GameStop bought them out, I honestly can't see publishers allowing Game to disappear, they are too big a contribution to the games market in the UK.

Went in this lunchtime and picked up Uncharted 2 for £6 and Brutal Legend PS3 for 98p.

Not much else worthwhile on the shelves, really :( I was kinda hoping for some mad strategy guide prices, but they didn't have anything but about 100 Gears 3 guides :(

Brera?

I don't think the publishers are too concerned. They will just increase support for other retailers to compensate, as EA did with HMV when ME3 came out. Titles they haven't stocked have still charted well, Mario Party 9 with the best ever sales for a Mario Party game, for example. Game are not too big to fail.

Publishers have no say in the matter. It will be entirely up to whoever purchases Game, if anyone does.

I think the success of Mass Effect 3 does at least in part prove that a AAA title does not rely on Game's retail network to be successful. The market is extremely competitive, as has been reiterated throughout this thread, and other outlets could well just fill the gap.

Mass Effect 3 outsold both ME1 and ME2 without assistance contribution from Game/Gamestation. And while it could be argued that ME3 is high profile enough for people to shop around for it, the same can't be said of Mario Party 9, yet that placed third in the games charts the week of it's release, outselling previous Mario Party games during their first week.

One of the main reasons Game/Gamestation are dying is because people are now savvy enough to shop elsewhere for better deals, be it supermarkets or online.

And as for publishers, many of them WANT to see Game/Gamestation die, as the pre-owned market cuts into their profits significantly, and Game/Gamestation focus a lot more on pre-owned than they do new stock. There's a reason why EA were the first to pull support, when they're the publisher who fight used game sales the most (online activation codes in all of their games). Game/Gamestation's precense likely costs publishers more money than they make.

Also, as JoeTheBlow stated, Gamestop won't buy them out. If Gamestop do want to establish themselves in the UK, they'll wait until Game Group go into administration, and then set up afterwards.

My local Gamestation now have one of those cage bins with a 'Stuff' label on it absolutely brimming with Wii-related plastic tat. Steering wheels, golf clubs, console stands... 98p a pop.

It just looks so pathetic. I've seen a more professional looking Cash Converters.

Kid Icarus is one of those games that won't hurt them much by itself, but all these absences of relatively lower-profile releases add up, and soon going to reach the point where customers won't even visit Game/Gamestation, due to the reputation of them not stocking anything.
