The game just came out, and so everyone is starting at 0-0 when they boot it up, even those who had tons of MvC3 practice from February till now.
Give it like 2-3 weeks for the rankings to finalize itself a bit more. You might have better luck finding games on your level with scrub GAF or looking through player matches instead of ranked.

So if say, you just picked up CoD MW3, do you expect god like scores when the majority of the population that buys it has had multiple iterations of CoD games to hone skills at ?
This is online gaming 101. No matter the game, if it's your first time picking it up, and you didn't get the previous iterations, then expect a steep learning curve and a lot of getting your shit pushed in before you see any kind of results.
Be thankful you are starting in MvC3 which is far easier to pick up and have some success with after far less time than a Blazblue or a Street Fighter.
You'll get the hang of things, but you just need to accept the fact that if you play online you ARE going to lose a LOT, and I mean a LOT before you see results. The more time you put in, the more results you will see over time.

So what are your thoughts on the new comers so far?
I'm having a really hard time remembering these names. . .
Rocket Raccoon/Wright = joke characters. Wright takes way too much time to get decent and RR just has nothing going for him. You can find a character that does much better than him.
Nova = awesome, does everything, and does it well.
Iron Fist = Chicken guarding lulz at him. No air game at all.
Vergil = Decent character, there's not as much to him as there was Dante, but he's solid.
Frank West = Great assist, does tons of damage, all around lot of potential.
Strider = probably one of the best characters in the game, Viagra assist is all kinds of stupid.
Nemisis/Firebrand/Ghost Rider = looks solid, not much playtime with them.
Strange = no air mobility, but doesn't really need it with teleports and a crazy zoning game. Seems really good.
Hawkeye = very dumb character, everything he has looks dumb. Overall he's great.

Man I am not finding any images online about these 4chan heroes and heralds cards that leaked...
EDIT: Found something out! The guys who cracked vanilla for jill and shuma, that cracked ultimate for DLC alts have cracked ultimate and gotten the card art (according to Jin on Shoryuken at least).
He says that Megaman Classic, Edgeworth and Lord Raptor are cards and that there are 103 cards so far with art on the game already. The mode could probably add more to that list when it drops. I'll keep poking for more news on this...

P.Wright = Just like Dark Phoenix. Build your team around him, and the results can be crazy if you get him into finger bang mode.
Rocket Racoon= Has a solid means to open people up and whiff punish since his funky hitbox makes him a bit harder to confirm on. Damage isn't there, but he's got potential.
Nova = As simple to play as Ryu is in a SF game. Solid character with solid options.
Iron Fist = Damage monster. Great on point character if you have a team with a needy character (frank, p.wright, phoenix). If you can land his BnB Rekka that ends on the stagger falling over animation, you can freely tag out to say Frank, and get a free combo to level him up to 4 without meter. Solid assist choice too. He sucks in the air, and he needs a good assist to get in to start pressure. Super advanced character if you want to actually get to that damage.
Vergil = Great. Easy big damage combos, tons of mix up choices, and some of the best hyper options around. Has a solid assist to offer, and all around fits the bill of a top 10 tier character.
Frank West = The most potential out of the entire new cast. GREAT assist option. Hit level 4 and you become insane to deal with. Combo ability is through the roof as he levels, and damage is buff as hell.
Strider = Bleeds. Over hyped. Really good assist, but he needs meter to be a really big threat, since any character in the game can one touch kill him without much issues and 1 meter. Feels to me like you gotta be really good at the game to keep him safe to get the openings.
Nemesis = Big damage. Big hitbox. He doesn't do much for me. Easily zoned, easily mixed up. He hits like a truck, but he has a harder time than Iron Fist to open people up, and I see things getting worse for him in this regard once people are aware what his attack animations look like more.
Firebrand = Great character. Fast, mix ups, and can build meter. Does weak damage, but he's a great way to start off a match for your team I feel.
Ghostrider = Solid. Can be annoying. Not crazy threatening, but not to be taken lightly.
Dr. Strange = No clue. ;/
Hawk Eye = God like. Example: Go see Combofiend from earlier tonight. O GOD DAMN!

Thanks for making assumptions, I pretty much play all games. I playe Street Fighter and I played vanilla where I was able to fight w/ some people online (keyword: some), just thought it was weird that the first 3 people I found all destroyed me easily.
Ah alright my bad. The way you had it worded made it come off as if this was a first time attempt at getting good at a fighting game. My mistake.
I had a similar experience as you though with UMvC3. In fact I've only played about 2-3 people who I could tell were horrible, and everyone else is just god like.
