I really have to wonder if Capcom forgot to balance Wesker at all? Like, most characters, i feel like have a great balance. But for some reason, Wesker is ridiculous.

I usually don't give a flying shit about commentary (unless it's good, then I of course enjoy it, shoutouts to UltraDavid and James Chen), even boring or stupid commentary doesn't bother me, but seriously, this guy just grinds my gears.

The first (and only) time I witnessed his commentary, he constantly interrupted the other commentator like a dick, and all he did was having a lot of whine and (Swiss) cheese about how X-Factor is so terrible, and how it's so cheap, and how it's so terrible, and cheap, and terrible, and cheap, etc.

I won't lie, I know the guy personally. He's very knowledgeable about fighting games, and overall cool guy; but seriously, some people on here are overly critical --but that's just me.

Anyways, to each their own :)

He might be knowledgeable or a nice guy, but on the stream I watched, he was a salty jerk who was just complaining about the game constantly, with no real pause. Hell, he didn't even comment the matches, he just was "habloobloobloobloo X-Factor is so cheap bloohoohooo", and did it alllllll the time, especially when the other guy tried to comment on the actual match. He didn't really display any knowledge or coolness at all.

I mean, there's times where not directly commenting the match is cool and all (like stories, or jokes, etc.), but it shouldn't be like 95% of your commentating, and that commentating shouldn't be 99% whining about X-Factor.

Y'know what I mean?

I believe Viscant when he says Wesker will continue to lose his grip as the metagame progresses. He's pretty damn figured out relative to the rest of the cast.

You know what this means? In 2020 Iron Man will be in a higher tier than Wesker!

honzo needs to change hawkeyes assist to his triple arrow assist. that way he can cover the ground while he zones out wesker in the air. if you don't then wesker can just play his pressure game. at the very least change it when facing strong weskers.

I dropped out of the room long before I could say anything but pretty much the most important things you want to do with a team like that is have access to both Devil Triggers (especially Vergil's, cancelling out of Rapid Slash or hell anything really and keeping it safe by getting stronger just sounds fun), Vergil's Summoned Sword formations and a DHC-able Lvl. 4 for when you just need to hit something hard as fuck. :lol

I'm also wondering what kind of synergy a Dante/Ammy/Strider, Dante/Viper/Strider, & Dante/Strider/Strange teams would have. (Yeah, I'm building a lot around my boy on point now. :p) Also might have to hop the GROWN ASS MAN/Dick Rider/Nova train, that red, white & blue color is too godlike. :lol

Edit: Totally forgot I need to get some Felicia & X-23 love going on.

I've found decent success with my main team (IF/Task/Strider) but now I want to experiment a bit. Thinking about doing:

IF(y)/Dante(y)/Strange(a)

Weasel Shot feels pretty good for IF to get in, plus since hops behind it can be safer. Daggers for homing to help with people trying to lame out in super jump space. Problems is the daggers feels soooo slow, strange kinda hangs out forever. I may try to do jam session/bolts of ballsack though. Been hearing good things about strange's bolts, and although jam session doesn't serve the same purpose as vajra/hidden missiles it can lock down to a degree.

Then again I may stop learning strange and just tack on hidden missiles. Anybody have any suggestions?

I do agree; a Jean Grey option with her having the combined life of Phoenix/Dark Phoenix (maybe a little more), she'd be a really cool and viable character.

The question is whether or not he needs the nerf/buff in that case. If Fei Long or Yang get figured out by a handful of high/top tiers does that mean they need to be buffed when they are already strong as hell and the game's changes makes them even better?

People like to espouse that they want balance and character variety, but it is pretty hard to do that if you can't regulate characters with an extremely strong/proven track record. Viscant's predictions may be very very good, but they are still predictions made by a fallible human. People like to doubt Justin all the time even though he is the most well known US fighting game player in the entire world. What is so different about Viscant that makes his predictions so surefire?

I think this could go in an interesting direction aside from the Wesker discussion which kinda feels like it went off in the wrong direction from the start lol

Obviously, it does not mean they need to be buffed.

The thing about Wesker is that it looks like they tried to keep him powerful even in this version. Yes, he's definitely good, and right now likely to be one of the best like 3 characters (if not the best). However, the metagame is still brandnew. It'll take at least several months for the actual character tiers (for what it's worth) to be at least somewhat established. Like right now, you see quite a few Morrigans or Joes who actually are doing pretty well, but does that mean these characters are good now? Only time will tell. Does the fact nobody plays Tron anymore mean she is actually bad now? We don't know, maybe she has some secret techs.

Remember that in vanilla, we had pretty much only the top and bottom tier characters established, while everything in between was kinda ambiguous. Characters like Viper or Skrull originally have been classified as mid tier (with a few exceptions, mainly their players, haha), and some characters like Spider-Man, Jill or MODOK haven't even been really explored before the new version came out, cause they had pretty much no players at all.

Back to Wesker - he was a top tier character in vanilla. Characters who were solid or good before received buffs as well. Of course, with all these buffs for already good characters, I presume Niitsuma and his team feared that if the vanilla top tier only got the nerf pan, they'd fall down and simply be replaced by the new top tier characters, so they gave them buffs, too - Magneto and Viper got new moves, Zero got more life, etc.
They tried to do the same with Wesker, but pretty much fucked up so badly that the nerfs they gave him hardly make a difference, while the buffs they gave him actually do make a difference, and currently make him top, especially in comparison to the nerf/buff balance the other characters (Dante, Phoenix, ...) got.

tl;dr:
Let the metagame evolve. Wesker will definitely be good, they probably screwed up balancing him, but we will have to wait to see how it'll pan out.

I would say it's because JWong says a lot of shit - whether he just trolls or not, I dunno. He's one of those players who looks at a character once and thinks they're good or bad, without even really knowing the techs they have. Of course he knows his stuff, but he judges characters more on his guts.

Viscant on the other hand, at least to me, looks like a very rational player, calculating and such. He definitely knows his stuff, and he knows most characters to the extent that he can judge them properly. I would say that even for him, it's still too early to be able to judge properly, though.

In general, you can currently see only trends, but these trends might end up being horribly wrong (like Viper or Skrull being considered mid or low tier in vanilla, Sentinel originally being considered one of the best characters), or pretty much correct (She-Hulk being pretty much immediately picked up as good). Give it at least about 2 or 3 more months until the tech is uncovered.
