It is certainly unfair, but there is a way to deal with it besides playing the games. It's not the easiest path to take in this genre though lol.
I'm pretty sure there was a little versus segment between 8 bit megaman and pac man at the end of one of their videos too.

he actually doesn't have that great priority, if he gets called randomly or at a bad time, its quite easy to punish him similar to sent.
you can hit him before he teleports, but also even after he teleports with a high priority move like a launcher, which will then give you a free air combo on him at risk of the opponent being able to punish you though. if the opponent is calling him from full screen trying to zone you, a properly timed s can usually go unpunished.

Super late on this, but when you're plinking the bold cancel teleport, unlike other commands, make sure you hit the S second. I use L since it's right above the S. So it should be D,D,L (slight delay) S. For any other bold cancel you're hitting the S first, so it messed me up for a little while too.

After screwing around a bit with MvC2, I get even less how people could want Gambit or Cyclops. What garbage ass boring characters they are LOL.

Gambit boring? Nobody else has a staff. He would have a magnetic shockwave hyper variant. His card super would cover the whole screen. staff moves could tear through projectiles and have stupid hit boxes. Kinetic cards are awesome. wtf man!!

I dunno man, both characters have such boring movesets. Staff or not.
All that Cyclops is doing is shooting eye lasers, and the occasional punch or kick. Literally. That's all he does LOL. His 2 supers are beams, his command grab is a beam, his projectiles are beams. BEAMS EVERYWHERE. Also dragon punch and hurricane kick.
Gambit is a bit more interesting, but not much. He rarely uses his rod, his wall cling is eh, his cards are kinda boring too... I just don't understand people wanting him.
Hell, Rogue is much more interesting cause she at least has that drain mechanic.

Nah, I can see why people think the moveset of the guy is generic (I never opposed THAT point), but dude is mad hype to watch and really fun to play. Cyclops and Gambit not so much.
I hate him so much in the comics, he's basically a personification of what's wrong with X-Men comics and Marvel comics in general. He was created by Claremont who had ENTIRELY different plans for him (that actually were really fucking badass), but the writers after him fucked him up and made him a poor man's Spider-Man with a terrible accent and personality.

Gambit's card super is one of the most swag supers in the history of MvC. Although, a Jill-style revamp would be in order for Gambit.

Yea, he's pretty high up there in terms of power, he can essentially charge up all inanimate objects with their kinetic energy so they're explosive projectiles. He did have his moments, like that one time he spat a chewing gum into a dude's face and made it explode. I admit as much. But overall, he's a terrible character who usually always gets terrible writing LOL.
