There's no way a Bush will ever enter the white house again, no matter how much better Jeb is. Hillary runs, and the election is already over
Well, I wouldn't say never, especially since I'm kind of surprised the election wasn't wider than it was, but I do think he's going to have far more trouble escaping his brother's shadow than his brother did escaping their father's shadow.

... And after the article about how the GOP won't get their Bill Clinton I think the party's going to be dying a slow yet violent death, and if they get an opening later on (and assuming they keep heading further and further right) we could be fucked.

Because Obama won with moderates and minorities, the clear response is to push those groups even further away. Don't they see the numbers?

So how easy will it be for others to emulate Silver's success? Will we know 24 hours ahead the results of an election? And will people stay home if they think their candidate is a lock and thereby skew the results?

His success was built on a deck of cards. A trick deck. Once everyone knows the trick, his illusion is over.

Akin as a perfect standard is revolting, but does this mean they realize, even a little, that they need to turn down the social shit?

It probably doesn't.

i've spent the last 18 hours hearing republicans scream that minorities are too stupid to vote for the right party and that women voters are hysterical sex-craved sluts who vote with their vaginas and that America Needs Strong Conservatives so no they will never do this ever, more blood for the blood god, skulls for the skullthrone

My Fiancee was very involved and interested in this election. While she was checking the individual results for counties in PA, she saw the two 3rd Party Candidates and looked at me:

"Who are those two doofuses?"

I answered:

"They're the 3rd Party Candidates."

To which she says:

"No wonder they didn't do too good."

Sadly, I think the lesson they'll draw is not that their policies are unpopular and should change but that they should just not talk out loud about what their real policies are.

Don't change policy or try to sell your policy more effectively . . . just hide it and try to win despite your unpopular policy.

He keeps saying the GOP are the responsible parents who watch what their kids do while Obama/Dems are the parents who let their kids gorge on junk food and play video games all day.
Ironically Obama's been the most vocal anti-videogame ( in rhetoric ) president in my lifetime.

No, Al Gore doesn't count.

Involved and interested in the election but doesn't know who Johnson or Stein are? No offense. I figure even if you're not interested in them or their platforms you'd at least be interested in their potential effect on the election.

I'm glad George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln aren't alive to see what's become of this great country.

He supports the anti-obesity program run by his wife. They probably feel that younger kids need to get out more and run around.

bitch I'm taking calls.
Bullshit.

He used math. He's not a pundit, get over it.
Math might as well be a magical illusion to members of the right; they've proven time and time again they are completely unable to grasp it. Despite the accuracy of Nick's polls this election using equations, they still won't use math. It's not conducive enough to the manipulation required to fit their narratives.

yeah, they'd legitimately be upset about a black man being president

I bet Jefferson would have taken one look at modern technology and we would never see him again. He would be in a maintenance shop somewhere.
Washington would hit up Affordable Dentures right away.
And Lincoln would stop by the Mens Wearhouse on his way to meet with Republican leaders.

This thread is finally slowing down. The gloating is over.
Time to get on to serious matters like a Benghazi investigation and the fiscal cliff.
I've listened to tons of conservative media today and haven't heard much of anything about Benghazi at all. The whole idea of pretending it to be some huge scandal and that they care so much about the families of the lives lost is over. It was purely a political talking point that didn't work, so on to the next one...

He's made a few comments along these lines, see:

I think that's probably the case, and is reinforced in some of the comments I'm referring to.

Are you sure you're not just upset because he said something negative in relation to video games, and not that he has a stance on them?

So in order to gain the minority and woman votes they need... they try to push those groups as far away as possible and foster the burning core of hatred.

Those people will vote Republican anyways. Seems pointless to me.

Doesnt mean you can't play video games. It's not healthy to be in front of the screen 8 hours a day after school before you're even 9 years old. That's what today's kids are growing into. It's going to be similar to:
