I can see people guessing Tyrion will kill Tywin eventually, in fact the no spoilers thread features many who believe that. But I doubt anyone will guess Shae's involvement. It'll be a mind fuck.

The biggest shocker is the way Tywin is offed, though.
I wonder if they will interview Charles Dance afterwards and ask him how it felt shooting a scene where his character's son kills him while he's taking a dump.
This show has some silliness going on sometimes. They basically reshot the scene when Shae comes into Tyrion's room, only this time he didn't sleep with her.
I guess they didn't trust the audience to remember that Tyrion didn't want to be seen with her?
He's as good as dead next episode, baby! Final shot will probably be Cersei pointing at Tyrion and saying he did it and showing Tyrion's "oh shit" face.
Is it wrong that I am as excited about the Twitter explosion for Joff's death as I am for his actual on-screen death? XD
I'm really curious to see whether the show watchers' opinion of Tyrion will change after he kills Shae and Tywin. I remember reading a lot of displeasure towards him by readers due to him becoming a "cold blooded murderer."
I also wonder how they'll end the next episode. Joff dying and Cersei ordering the guards to arrest Tyrion, or Littlefinger's (presumably) first appearance in the season and killing Dontos?
Such a fantastic classic line, but it's one of those things that I have a hard time imagining working on screen. How would that play out? Would Tyrion shoot Tywin and then walk over, look in the privy and deliver the line? This is the moment where Tyrion murders his father; it's not lighthearted. I think TV show Tyrion cracking a joke in that situation would weaken that moment.
Books = great. TV = won't happen.
This reminds me of literally my biggest fear about the HBO adaptation: how will they handle the absurd, cartoonish, acrobat circus performer Tyron next season and not make everything terrible?

Yeah, Bronn seems like a possible way to deliver the line, or they could have someone else but Tyrion say it. Something like 2 soldiers talking to each other and one of them saying "They say Lord Tywin was murdered on the privy. When the servants cleaned it out, they said that Lord Tywyn did, in fact, not shit gold." or something.
Edit: Yeah, Tyrion cracking the line towards Varys/Jamie also seems possible.
The line's too legendary to not have it happen, though. It's such a crass moment in the books.
After Tyrion kills Tywin an overhead narrator (preferably Martin) should say "Lord Tywin Lannister did not, in the end, shit gold." And then Tyrion breaks the fourth wall, smiles right into the camera, fade to black as When Doves Cry plays.

finally watched it today. brilliant opening episode, though I have to say the Dornish are a bit too different for my taste. But oh well. Loved the Arya/Hound bit, they're always brilliant.

you know whenever I read this sort of stuff in no spoiler threads I'm pretty sure those people are book readers. How could you possibly guess from what has been shown so far that Tyrion would do that, that he would actually slay his own kin, his own father! It's such a stretch at this point.
I think these ideas are intentional. Due to the nature of the show I think they storyboard the hell out of it and think about how the scene will look because they don't have time to mess about. I think they have shot Tywin this way multiple times, his eyeline above everyone else's even if he is seated.
I was rewatching this scene http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D8lLIjpZn7w with Stannis and Shireen and you see the difference in how the camera is focused on Shireen at eyelevel when they begin their talk. In fact they are level with Stannis on the reverse shot making you feel sympathy for both of them but then he talks about Davos being a traitor and the camera switches to point downward on Shireen making her more sympathetic and reminding you that Stannis is being a dick.

You guys have it all wrong. After Tyrion kills Tywin, the camera dollies back to find a man wearing a suit facing away from camera. The man turns to face us, look directly at us. It is Frank Underwood. He delivers the line directly to the audience with his southern drawl "Lord Tywin did not, in the end, shit gold. Of course I knew he never would. He's just a man. And the only thing men shit is shit." He is now the main character of this show.

The Camera pans left after the death to Christopher Lee sitting in an Armchair. He looks at the camera and says "Tywin Lannister, in fact, did not shit gold." at which point the camera goes to Paul Shaffer who laughs and agrees with him. Then the story carries on and no explanation is offered about those two sitting in Lord Tywin's chambers

I seriously doubt there will be meltdowns when that little shit meets his end. George writing the Ep is icing on the cake too. He probably wanted to kill him twice

Clutching throat desperately then fade to black. IS HE DEAD OR NOT! yells can be heard all over the world. Book readers being hunted down like animals for answers.

Illyrio... we haven't seen him since Season 1 have we? I wonder if they'll keep the same actor. There's gonna be many more cases like this, where the show revisits a character than hasn't been seen in 4 years. I'm not looking forward to more "Daarios"
