Daario casting aside, I wonder what the reactions to season 4 Bran will be.

To be fair if she was bad Martin wouldn't say so. It struck me as a horrible casting decision and I'm glad they went a different direction. Clarke isn't a good actress but she does "intense" well, and she looks the part.

Unfortunately, intense is all she does.

Dany's the worst POV character. Not the worst character, but worst point of view character. Well as long as I don't count Damphair. Damphair's chapter wasn't all that bad but I count him among my 3 least favorite characters aka the 3 D's: Damphair, Daario, and Darkstar.

I feel like I should like Damphair, but I just can't. He's the most boring cool character on the books.
She does the pissed off/annoyed face pretty well too.

Intensely pissed off/Intensely annoyed.

I would bang a hot farmer!
Thanks, Batman!
For giving us a King who actually cares about being King instead of just being a drunken fool who likes to whore it up? Yes, thanks Batman.

Joffrey > Bobby B > Aerys II > Tommen

I'm not serious at all.

Was she replaced due to scheduling conflicts, like Jennifer Ehle was, or did they dump her because they didn't like her performance? Regardless, I'm still curious to see what she was like.

We can't be sure, but I've heard the scheduling reason for Jennifer being replaced (I've also heard they wanted someone older). I haven't really heard any reasoning behind Tamzin being replaced.

Not hearing any reason otherwise for being replaced after a pilot, I would assume the performance wasn't what they were looking for going forward, but of course we don't know for sure.

Found a review of 4x01 in The Sunday Times this morning entitled "Don't waste time on this stupid Game". I was intrigued so read on.

Game of Thrones is like Marmite. Or, to be more specific, like an old jar of Marmite: a sticky, cloying, unmanageable mess that half the population can only be fond of because it reminds them of when they were spotty teenagers obsessed with fantasy roleplay, naked women in Viking hats and toast. Halfway through the first episode of season four, an episode so hotly anticipated it crashed the HBO server, I did not understand anything that was going on.

This was my fault, because I have a life and I hadn't watched the previous three seasons.

I stopped reading here.

Did we know that Hizdahr appears in episode 3?

They really aren't hanging around.
He is in the guest stars role call that WiC posted a few days ago for episode three. I'm also surprised he shows up this early, as he hasn't been in any of the trailers.

Not going to lie, I had to google what Marmite was.

We all know Dinklage had a AMA recently, but WiC went ahead and compiled the best GoT related ones. Apparently the funniest person on the set is Varys.

Also searching for Game of Thrones on Tumblr is a goldmine.

Yeah, fair enough.

Are those Ygritte pics actual quotes from her or something someone made up?

They're made up, to mock how she talks on the show. :p

I think Jennifer decided to leave the show because it was so shortly after her pregnancy, no?

I don't think we knew that prior to the guest cast list.

Judging by the episode description, I'm guessing he'll just be having a brief appearance as an envoy who meets Dany or something, given that she won't have actually gone into Meereen yet.

Daario looked like a joke, but he was also larger than life and added some extra color to the world.

In Game of Thrones, everything looks drab at all times.

I miss Joffrey easily one best actors for his role. Plus no more people in book thread crying the "good" guys keep dying while he still lives.

Is this from some gag/blooper reel?
You can see it here at the 10 minute mark:

Edit: Beaten

What so soon?

I feel like theres not enough buildup to this.
Well, the wedding is tonight so I hope so. A whole episode building towards it seems enough. How long do they have to build up to a death of a character that has firmly been established as an asshole? Plus the death does come out of nowhere in the book anyway.

So no wedding tonight? :(
Here's the longer version:
A who’s who of honored guests turns out for Joffrey and Margaery’s wedding in King’s Landing, but the king’s taste in entertainment rubs many of them the wrong way. Meanwhile, Bronn gives a lesson to an unlikely pupil; Bran’s vision helps map out his journey; Stannis loses patience with Davos; and Ramsay takes a perverse delight in his new pet.
