Morrigan Stark

Arrogant Smirk
Emilia Clarke is just bad. :\ Daenerys is a really hard role to play well, I get that, and I thought she was mostly fine until S4, and the scene where she dismisses Jorah is absolutely butchered. She comes across as mean and stupid, instead of heartbroken and upset.

The deleted scenes have all been awful, with the exception of the Tywin-Pycelle from season 3 and maybe the Margaery-Loras from season 2. This one was just weird. Like, why is she suddenly worried about Missandei betraying her? Unless it's some hamfisted forshadowing for their Missandei = The Harpy twist for season 5.

She's not "suddenly worried" about Missandei. In the books she says that to Missandei shortly after having experienced Jorah's betrayal. It made perfect sense in context.

I'm so curious to know what Tamzin Merchant was like as Dany. Like, she was replaced for a reason, but I'm just really curious to see what her performance was like.

I think the Margaery/Loras scene in season 2 was the one that hurt the show the most. It's the only scene in which Loras' feelings for Renly truly come out. It's a really powerful scene.
Then again, he did go straight for the next manwhore, so I guess it doesn't matter all that much in the bigger picture.
totally would've gone for said manwhore myself tho, he's a QT.

Ugh why is this being brought up? As if sex and love are the same thing.

We'll never see that pilot for a variety of reasons, but what we've heard about it makes me even more curious.

Of course it is, but it still feels kinda cheap. There's no evidence that Loras was desiring company beforehand, and suddenly there's this guy he spars with who blatantly flirts and next thing we know they're fucking. And then spills the secret that he's gonna marry Sansa, which is what the scene was for, and it just doesn't sit well with me.
I hate to compare to the books, but that is one of those occasions where having Sansa tell Dontos instead would've been much better.

At the very least they continued having Loras be a little horny later on when he sees Oberyn at Joffrey's wedding, so it's not as bad to me anymore.

Agreed. I really would love to see that pilot. Or at least some footage from it.

They've made it out to be such a disaster it sounds all the more appealing. I kind of hope once it's all over there's more willingness to talk about where it all went wrong. I want to hear horror stories behind the unaired pilot and the recastings of The Mountain/Daario.

I don't know to me it's not that hard to imagine. Loras probably hasn't had sex since Renly died add that to the fact that he's a perfectly healthy red-blooded male in his early 20's his libido is probably through the roof. Alcohol+Sex also makes for a pretty loose tongue.

Reminds me, I just saw The Hobbit recently and I can't believe Conan Stevens left GoT for about 10 seconds of screen time in that film.

I think he filmed significantly more, but it was all cut. He clearly endeared himself as well to Jackson & Co. as he did to D&D.

It's not like he had much to do on GoT at the time. I don't blame him for jetting. Prior to seeing the Hobbit trilogy, if PJ asked me to be in it, I'd start packing my bags.

But it does suck that Bolg was pretty much pushed aside for Azog.

Everything about the situation/rumblings at the time indicated that the actor was not asked back. Every industry whitewashes its firings.

Oh man, this cracked me up. Unfortunately the full details will likely remain behind closed doors.
So any guesses on what role Olenna plays this season? Considering Mace Tyrell is practically a non-entity on this show she'll probably be the face of Margery's defense.

according to his own blog, that's not how it happened, he says he was just never asked to play the mountain in season 2

Absolutely no clue whatsoever, and that's being completely honest. But yeah, her being Margaery's defense/confidante sounds pretty on point and likely.

Olenna is vastly more interesting and realized character than Mace, so her taking the bulk of that content make sense.

--------------

Quick reminder that the half-hour special covering the production of the show airs at 7:30 tonight.

Fuck yeah this + The Walking Dead+ Shameless.

This is such a good day.

He shot quite a bit but the scenes were cut apparently. Similar to what happened with GoT S1; I know he was upset by the editing in GoT, I'd imagine he's upset about The Hobbit too. I'd imagine most people would jump at the chance to be in a huge blockbuster film over a minor television role. Also I remember Gutshot saying he was difficult on set and HBO wanted to move on.

Seems like it was a plus for him: he's had a lot more work since The Hobbit.

Yeah, the same sort of thing happened with Daario getting the Transporter role. Did he quit to take that job, or was he fired and just happened to have a role lined up to save face. I lean toward the latter, but who knows.

I'm just saying, you have to really fuck up to convince Peter Jackson to cut something.

Here's the thing: in AFFC, all of the drama between Cersei and Margaery takes place (as far as I can tell) in Cersei's increasingly paranoid head. In the series, it's actually going to play out for real, which means Margaery (who's really just a cipher in the books and is already far more thoroughly characterized on the show) is going to need to get fleshed out and get a lot more storyline. Having additional supporting characters be around for her just makes sense (and everybody loves Olenna Tyrell anyway).

I'm still surprised at what we've seen none of thus far.

Maybe one quick shot of Doran and the Sand Snakes.
Nothing of Ramsay or the North or any inkling of how that story is going to go.

Is it just me, or have they kept this season far more under wraps than they have in the past?

That means it's either really good or really bad.

Doran was one of the promo images they released, although obviously he wasn't in the trailer.

As for any other implications, I doubt the creative forces behind the show are actually involved in marketing, so I wouldn't take away too much from what we see or don't see.

There was a Ramsay and Roose shot, too, but it had pretty much no actual info about what will be going on in Winterfell. The Stannis/Bolton stuff just doesn't excite non-readers much at this point, so they're not going to focus on it in trailers that are meant to get people hyped up. The lack of any shots of the Dornish ladies is weird, though. They may just want to avoid scaring viewers off with lots of scenes featuring no characters they know.

What is her storyline? Does it spoil anything from TWOW?

Well, just search for season five set pictures and you may find some interesting images. If you are too lazy...
it doesn't seem to go into her TWoW storyline, but Tyrion and Jorah are there at Daznak's Pit (the big arena battle at the end of ADWD where Drogon returns). That's a major deviation from the book, but we don't know how or if Tyrion and Dany have any meaningful interaction. No idea if the arena scene is her last segment or not though, she could have something big afterwards.

New interview with Sophie Turner from Huffington Post

Some interesting tidbits:

On a scale from one to 10, with 10 being the Red Wedding, how hard is it to watch your traumatic scene in Season 5?
I think I really bigged that one up. [Laughs] It's traumatic, but isn't all of "Game of Thrones" traumatic? I give it a solid "6," though ... It's a pretty intense scene. I can't say much more than that.
That's pretty traumatic.
Do you discuss "Game of Thrones" theories with the cast?
Sometimes we talk about theories … there's that one theory where Rhaegar and Lyanna are Jon Snow's parents. And we've definitely discussed that, but I think a lot of us are thinking now that it's such a huge theory it would be so predictable if it happened. But if it did happened, it'd still be awesome.
SERIOUSLY?

Oh and
Was it awesome smacking Sweet Robin?
You know what, that was improvised. No, I'm kidding. Yeah, I just wanted to smack the kid. [Laughs] No ... I mean that was awesome for me because I’ve been the one slapped around so much on this frickin' show that I felt like I wanted to do it anyway. So I really wanted to give him a good one. There wasn't really a huge amount of preparation. I mean just a lot of safety in terms of eyes and [how] to smack, like, a 12-year-old child in the face. But I can certainly find the anger for Sansa. He WAS such an annoying little kid.

get hype

"There’s some massive moments, perhaps even more shocking than the Red Wedding type of thing. There’s like a lot going on this season," Turner, known in the Realm as Sansa Stark, said. "There’s also, you know, a lot of blood, a lot of death. And a lot of people kind of come far. And there are a few familiar faces around as well/"

LSH GET HYPE x2

I wish they would have scaled the traumatic questioning a bit better. Hmmm a 6, can mean a lot of things and it depends on where you draw the line.

I mean, in the book, they're already in Meereen when that happens, they're just not at the actual pit. Right?
