and let the man be born, is what Maester Aemon says to Jon, when Jon has to begin making hard choices, a leader's choices. The thinking among some fans is that Maester Aemon will die shortly after this conversation with Jon.
A lot of people on various sites are saying that they never expected The Gift to be referenced in the show, but I could have sworn it was brought up in a conversation between Bran and Jojen back in Season 3. Am I crazy?

Lol.
Ok, I wouldn't go that far. But yeah, you're on the right track.
I don't remember a Jojen reference to the gift. That sounds like the sort of thing where your book memories and show memories merged to create a scene that never happened.
Also, I only just realized that the "gift" has significance to Arya's plot as well.

1. Leave my name the way it is and keep the running joke.
2. Actually have it changed to NeoGriff. It would be more appropriate, but the illusion would be ruined.

I have no ideas for episode 8, except maybe "Hardhome". Its fairly predictable and not very clever, though.
Depending on whether Cersei's Walk is in episode 9 or 10 I'd go for "A Lion Still Has Claws". It could have a double meaning for something Tyrion gets up to...
maybe finally coming out of his drunken depression and using some of his old wit to get into Dany's good graces?
"For the Watch" seems too good not to be one, so I'd have to put that forward for episodes 9 and 10, too.

I was looking back at the second trailer and had a thought.
The part where Stannis says "This is the time, and I will risk everything" could be the beginning of the show version of the "cart before the horse" speech. I can just imagine that he and Davos are in Stannis' tent on the way to wherever their battle is taking place, and Davos is expressing doubts at such a bold military action, e.g. "We cannot take such a risk now, Your Grace. Let us wait and regroup our forces until the right time", to which Stannis replies:
"This is the time, and I will risk everything. You may be a man of humble birth, Ser Davos, but you reminded me of my duty. I had the cart before the horse. I was trying to win the throne to save the kingdom, when I should have been trying to save the kingdom to win the throne.
The north remembers, Ser Davos. The north remembers Eddard and Robb Stark. The mummer's farce is almost done, and when it is, the north will remember who delivered it from Roose Bolton and his bastard.
"
Ok never mind the spoilered bit - I couldn't resist. But I could see the speech happening here. Of course... now it's not going to happen because that'd be too good.
or will that be next season? We have already confirmed
Hardhome
but since that's going to be earlier in the season, you know HBO is going to want something bigger. And if we're not getting
Mereen
, then I suppose we're getting the big one.
Looking forward to seeing how it plays out. There are perhaps a lot of major characters in play in this battle if they take out some parts of the book where some characters are away. More than any battle before?

But we also know that Stannis is up to something that will involve him in armour with blood on his face, separate from Hardhome. When or how that happens is anyone's guess.

I'm feeling pretty confident at this point that some version of the battle of ice is included.
Roose's actor also mentioned a battle. I mean, he could be talking about a plot line than his own, but I doubt it. A few weeks ago I thought they were taking the North pretty slow, but I think all the recent evidence has pointed against that. I think we're getting an unabridged version of Feast/Dance, with the resolution up North included, and the post-Daznak plot in Meereen basically written out. With Arya making it to Mercy, and Aegon's invasion omitted, that gets us to about where Dance was supposed to end before it got too long and the ending was cut.
Cersei being whitewashed(which I can agree with to a certain extent)
Dany being whitewashed(completely disagree with)
Mance glamour story being gone(which i'm glad about)
Varys' motivations changing because of fAegon being cut(not entirely sure if he is being fully honest with Tyrion just yet)

The episode titled "Kill the children" clearly alludes to Jon's monologue about "killing the children so the man can be born", musing on Stannis's words. It will end up with Jon executing Janos Slynt and Stannis nodding approvingly, mark my words.

I don't think Dany really loses her savior veneer in the books until Dance, so I don't think that's much of a problem yet. If she still feels that way at the end of this season, then yeah, they have a problem, but not yet.
I'll be pretty excited if we do get the resolution to the Winterfell business this season, even if it's obviously going to be playing out very differently from the books.
I think the character who dies early has a reasonably good chance of being Brienne, tbh, especially since the odds are good (with no Lady Stoneheart and probably no Brotherhood without Banners) that she's going to go get mixed up with all of the drama in the North.
Weiss & Benioff confirming that yes, the show is totally going to spoil events from future books. Obviously wasn't ever gonna be any other way, but I'm glad they're admitting it.

The talk on this page has me wondering about event timing. So we don't seem to be expecting the battle in the Snow...which means they are going to rush Dany out of Mereen but keep Stanning at the wall the whole season?
I've been assuming the battle in the snow happens and we aren't going to get a pick letter tease, just see the result.

Guys, the Pink Letter already happened, we've been talking about it all over the last page.
Just as in the books, it was sent in anger by a mystery character to the figurehead of authority (Jon/D&D). We don't know who it's from or exactly what its contents mean or involve... but it bodes ill.
So, you could say D&D stayed surprisingly close to the source material.

Your false show is a lie, bastards. It and all of its ratings will tank within seven days of my character's false death. Tell that to Cogman. Your false show's fans will abandon you, their Twitter accounts blasting angry tirades at you for your crimes. Log in and see them, bastards. Your false show lied, and so did you. You told the world you would be faithful to the books. Instead you killed my character in episode fucking four. I will have my role back. If you want your show and its fans back back, write me back in. I have copies of your scripts, for all the internet to see, proof of your lies. They suck, but I have made a series of notes about how to fix them through expanding the role of my character. I want my role back. I want the book plot. I want all my scenes. I want all my dialogue. I want all my speeches. And I want this show not to suck. Send me new scripts, bastards, and I will not trouble you. Leave me dead, and I will cut out your bastards' hearts and eat them.
Ian McElhinney, Trueborn Star behind the hit Character Ser Barristan Selmy in Game of Thrones Seasons Six and Seven, because he totally lives.
I have a theory that it was really Finn Jones who wrote it though you can tell by some of the subtle choices in diction
