What does the "death of generations" mean for the PS6 Portable?

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties has been announced for PlayStation 4:

February 2026 for PS4 is equivalent to February 2012 for PS2. The very last game for PS2 in Japan, Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Ryouran Sangokushi Engi, was released on November 10, 2011.

12 years after launch PS4 refuses to die.

Generations died in November 2020 and the sooner people accept it, the better.

Crossgen will be very long, likely from launch of next xbox/ps6 so holidays 2027 to at least 2030, maybe even beyond that to 2032, but there will be more and more games launching after 2030 that have rt as a base, ps5/xbox series are so weak at handling rt that the difference would be so huge game would look like og switch port vs maxed pc witcher 3, resolution so low u can see pixels size of a fists and all settings downgraded so much it looks much worse even from pc witcher 2 and game still be at most 30fps ;)

Hell we got example of that even now, just check maxed out(including rt) wukong vs any console version, they almost look like og game vs sequel made 5 years later(difference is bigger from ps4's Ghost of Tsushima vs ps5pr0's Ghost of Yotei) :P
There is huge difference between game made specifically to work on last gen then ported up/remasted to new gen and game made for new gen then downported to much weaker last gen platform.
Best example to give here would be first Last of Us and its ps4 remaster:

And first watch dogs, ps4 vs ps3 (sprinkled with bonus wiiu)version:

TLDR: Both xbox series consoles gonna be dropped like hot potato latest by 2030, and ps5 which will likely have well over 100m units(hell, maybe even 120m) even if it gets downport here and there up to 2032 that version gonna look and run artrocious in comparision to proper midgen pc and next gen xbox/ps6.

It means that there is no reason to get whatever the next gen of consoles is…

There will be no major overhauls, no exclusives and everything will continue to be optimized for older systems.

The next gen will skyrocket in price so that profit margins are massive for Sony

The handheld will be extremely expensive with no real reason to own one. FOMO is the only thing that will make it sell but handhelds will fade out again like they did before. Trends are cyclic

Generations died when the first "pro" consoles came out in the mid-gen to refresh the consoles, and the corpse was double-tapped with simplified graphics modes being offered.

You can also pile on that the costs to truly max out the hardware now less and less companies can afford to do, and those that can still want to recoup their budget by scaling the game down to older hardware to increase their audience potential.

Not great for the graphic obsessed, but a boon for people who do want more games to play on a handheld. If Sony can make it easy to port to, and make it backwards compatible back to the PS4 out of the box it could do well. Even better if they can ramp up PS1-PS2 emulation more, since many of those eras' games are great on the go.
