What should Retro Studios work on?

I want them having a go at a new Eternal Darkness.
Let it be a reboot if you must, but Retro is definitely the studio I would lay my whole faith into in terms of creating a fantastic cthuluesque horror experience.

I know people love the series, but I just don't like the DKC series, so I say anything other than another DKC game.

StarTropics or a new Metroid would be amazing.

I want to see a 3D platformer from them. Their level design capabilities are amazing judging by the MP trilogy and DK.

Donkey Kong. Metroid Prime is probably my favorite game but Tropical Freeze was pure joy in a videogame. I don't think I've been happier playing something in years.

I'd say restart development on Raven Blade or just gun for a new IP all together.

I mean, the track record they have is proven. They have every right to bring something new into this world.

Whatever they want to. I would love another Donkey Kong game but I will try anything from Retro.

I get that a lot of people think someone else should do the next DK game. I think the best scenario would be Retro partnering with Playtonic to do a potential third game.

Honestly, I'd like one more DKC from them. Bring back Squitter. Bring back pirate Kremlings. And make it DARK.

Oh, and David Wise is essential.

Hmm. I'd say revamp another franchise at this point. No Metroid, no Donkey Kong. Also no Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Pokémon, Animal Crossing, etc.

I'd go with F-Zero, Ice Climbers, or Eternal Darkness

I don't expect another 2D Donkey Kong Country game from Retro Studios. I believe it has either focused on a different IP, or a return to Metroid Prime. However, given Kensuke Tanabe's comment about his interest in reviving 3D Donkey Kong Country, then perhaps that is something he'll want to attempt to do with Retro Studios at some point in time.

Shouldn't it be: what are they working on? I hope they are already hard a work at their next game.

Hopefully it is Metroid, but I wanted them to do it for Wii U since I though the WiiU gamepad could have really brought something cool to the game. WiiU pad + Wiimote could have been amazing.

So now they are most likely doing something for NX it may be a launch title since it seem to me that maybe Nintendo let them know they should work on it for Nx. Whatever it is I wanna see it, if it is a Metroid game then I wish that they include Wiimote use on the new console or have a good game pad for it to work.

I just want someone to make a good Metroid game. 2d, 3d.. 2.5d.... at this point I'll take anything, just as long as its good.

Retro could deliver quality in any of those formats, so I would be happy to hear about their involvement.

They aren't the only answer, though. I'm not going to go nuts if they are working on something else. But man I hope somebody is working on a Metroid/Samus title

They can't just make two Donkey Kong games and stop before three can they? As much as I want something new or another Metroid I will not be surprised if Donkey Kong Country NX is announced sometime soon.

All the people saying Ravenblade are probably going to be disappointed, I think that was Steven Barcia's pet project and he left for EA Canada years ago. But I would be happy to be proven wrong there, it looked great.

My genuine hope is for a new IP, preferably a large scale open world RPG with an epic story, a ton of fascinating characters and a variety of decisions that have an impact on the story and the protagonist's relationship with their team. Ultimately, I want something akin to the Witcher series or a BioWare style RPG, because Nintendo doesn't have anything like that and I truly believe that Retro would do an amazing job launching a new franchise in this vein for the big N.

If Retro should make a new Metroid game I'd like to see it play like Metroid blast. There should be a co-op aspect just like blast where you are a Wii mote tps, and other player is a space ship. Worlds should be open and arena based. Tight corridors are too oldschool. Lets explore a huge alien Zebus that looks like something from Avatar.

Instead of losing all powers from the begining, you could enchance all your equiptment instead. Hate playing without the rocket jump. Also, co-op should be drop in and out like in Farcry 4. My biggest plea is that Mother Brain is the main vilian again. I hated every end boss since she was absent. Retro sucks at creating their own characters and enemies. Nintendo needs to co-develop the game with Japan. Japan is very good at weird alien creature designs.

Everything about this post is terrible. It's nice to want things but what you just described is not a metroid game.

Lots of retros designs are at minimum up to the level of the non retro metroid monsters anyway.

Plua a version of a mother brain (aurora unit) was already the final boss of prime 3...

And metroid prime /emperor ing were better bosses anyway.

Would love a new Metroid game, the Prime games were so damn awesome. Retro have been quite for a few years now and they have been working on a new game since 2014, so it's likely going to be a NX launch game at this point, as the Wii U is on it's way out now.

I want Prime 4 but only to see what they can do without the Armature folks who were the leads of the series. I want to see if they can retain the look and feel of the series without them or maybe go even bigger or something, who knows.

But they need to make a more core-oriented new IP. They really should be doing what folks like EAD don't do.

If Nintendo wants another 2D DK game, give it to Paon, who always truly respected the world Rare-built. Retro just refuses to do shit with the Kremlings.

But first help Monster finish up Diddy Kong Racing 2 for NX please. :(

Metroid 5 or an original IP, mostly an action rpg

The quality of their environmental design makes me want to play around in more of the worlds that theyd make

Their foremost Metroid Prime talent formed Armature Studios. If great things are to come, I expect it will come from them.

I expect Retro will join Camelot as once-great developers who became soulless Nintendo IP churners.

Retro has to be one of the most disappointing studios I've come across and I want to blame Nintendo's management of it. Don't get me wrong, the studio has done a tremendous job with the DK series but I just don't see how acquiring a western studio to put out iterations of DK games was worth the investment as this could've easily been done by an EAD group.

Their shining achievement was Metroid Prime. That studio seemingly has long since passed and I'm not sure what we are left with today. I hope whatever it is, it has the freedom and desire to return to the studio it started as with the purpose of making games that boys back East simply can't.

I'd be surprised to see anything which appeals to me from todays Retro Studios.
Lol. How long have they been at Armature and what have they released so far?
