Who's left to add to Smash?(As DLC or Smash5 newcomer) Some Japanese fans have ideas.

Chibi Robo and Ray MK1 just to increase awareness of the characters because both deserve a new game on the Wii U.

Chibi Robo we could use the gamepad to see the world from chibi's point of view.

Custom Robo the gamepad fit like a glove after all they are remote controled robots and we could the gamepad as a stat screen/character POV and the TV screen as a Third Person View.

Besides those, i'd like to play as:

Dixie, Bomberman and Inkling.

My hopes ... my dreams.

Well anyway, here's my Smash 5 wish list
Dark Samus
Ganon
Impa
Paper Mario
Captain Toad
Donkey Kong Jr
Blaziken
Bandana Waddle Dee
Wolf
Roy
Ice Climbers
Lucas
Squirtle
Pichu
All Smash 4 Characters Return

Seriously... Zelda is a massive series and hasn't had a new comer in 14 years. Impa and Ganon are perfect. I would even accept Dark Link as his own character at this point omg.

I don't think Smash 5 will have a lot of new comers. We're at 52 right now, and that's with deep cuts to the Brawl roster... it can't go much higher.

Nope, wrong. Those results are totally inaccurate. Plenty of people told me in the Smash speculation threads that Japan doesn't care about King K. Rool, and I trust them over some obviously biased poll with fake Japanese responses.

Gonna keep saying it until I'm forcibly silenced.

Jimmy Thang, heartthrob extraordinaire.
also something about music and dancing

lol.

Reminds me in the days of pre-Brawl where I was told Japan despised anything to do with Roy because his game was bad and they actually wanted Sigurd and Leaf.

i am forcibly silencing you because this character infringes on the elite beat agents's non-odds

anyways not sure how I feel about a newcomer poll where the highest ranked newcomer has 13 votes (and veterans are whatever i guess) but it's pretty funny that the top two are western-designed characters

Even Japan caught the Sceptile bug? That was easily one of the worst "popular" character ideas during the pre-Smash 4 period, and I love Gen III.

Granted, I know these results aren't entirely representative of Japan, but still.

I am liking what I see here.

King K. Rool would be awesome if they used all his various forms and things from various games, like his Boxing Gloves from DK64 or his helicopter from DKL3. There is stuff to work with for a moveset there.

Paper Mario is my most requested alt. character, like Toon Link or Dr. Mario but even more worthy. Reason being his entire moveset would be based on the various Mario RPGs (SMRPG and M&L series included), and would not be a clone of Mario as a result.

RAY MK 2! That guy is begging for a Smash entry. His moves like pods, bombs, and various guns would lend themselves easily to Smash, and even different alt. colors could have other parts (different asthetics, same moves).

My last suggestion will be mocked, but its actually possible. Waluigi, however not in the same sense as the other Mario Bros. characters where their movesets came from their own respective game series, as Waluigi has no game to take moves from. Instead, Waluigi's moveset would be based on the various Mario spinoff titles with moves inspired from them. The Mario Kart series, the various Sports titles like Golf, Strikers, and Baseball, and even the Mario Party titles would all contribute moves for a very wacky moveset similar to the likes of Villager or Duck Hunt.

If they did DLC beyond Mewtwo, I would be happy getting just the cut characters. I think with how Sakurai talks about Ice Climbers especially, the mention of Snake in the direct, and a bunch of characters getting trophies while in previous versions some character trophies were missing (Diddy not having one in Melee) I really think the chance for everyone to come back is fairly high.

On that note of missing character trophies: Isaac I'd like to see what they could do with. Barbara from Jam with the Band would be an interesting play style as would Lip from Panel de Pon. Smash 5 they need to give Ganondorf a new moveset and give his old one to Mach Rider.

I don't even know who I want anymore.

Honestly, I know lots of people think it has too much already, but more Fire Emblem characters would make me happy. The series has such a huge variety of characters, it's a shame that it's so overly represented by your typical Lord class swordsman. That's part of why the announcement of Robin was probably the first new character announcement that got me hyped for Smash 4 - we were finally getting a magic user wooo

Oh, and I guess really thinking about it, Dark Samus would be appreciated too. The Dark Samus AT shows how much potential she has and how different she would be from regular Samus.

Iffy thing about dark samus. Sakurai may be trying to avoid have all potential metroid reps be a variation of regular samus since ridley is too big lol.

My DLC packs:

Mewtwo - Cerulean Cave stage
Lucas and Ninten character skin for Ness plus more custom moves - Magicant HD
King K. Rool & Dixie Kong, also more varied DK music - Gangplank Galleon
Inkling - Splatoon Stage

Ice Climbers should take top priority. Then the rest of the missing cut veterans.

As for brand new characters, there's too many for me to list, but the one thing I will say is that beyond Snake, I wouldn't want to see anymore 3rd party characters added.

Yeah, that's one of the main reasons I didn't want her or even consider her prior to Smash 4.

But since Ridley isn't in and may never be, and the only other significant character I can think of (Mother Brain) will likely never be a character, I guess Dark Samus it is.

They should put in that Doki Doki Panic guy.

6ac2RkN.jpg

Doki Doki Panic was some Fuji TV tie-in, actually.

While Nintendo owns the engine, I don't think they actually own the family, since I think they were based on characters from the program I've read.

I'd love to see Super Mario 3D World 2 include them though as skins for Mario and Co. unlocked after beating the game, but doubt that'll happen.

I did hope for Bayonetta in the unfortunate event that Sonic didn't return, but we got him back (thank god), so my hopes for Bayo are dead. Likewise, my hopes for Phoenix Wright as a Capcom rep died with Mega Man got in (not hating on Mega Man, I was just curious about Wright if we didn't get the Blue Bomber). Since I'm a firm believer of Spainkiller, I'm pretty sure Dixie & the Chorus Kids are first in line to be DLC if we get more (& the latter has more evidence given the data mining of the game). The Inkling may just be saved for Smash 5, but we can't be certain (who knows, Splatoon may be a mega-hit). Other than that, the 2 remaining Spainkiller characters may be the only newcomers we get as DLC since it would make more sense to finish up characters that they already started than to start from scratch. The rest may just be cut veterans such as Wolf (assuming we get more characters).

I definitely think Castlevania deserves representation more than any other series in Smash Bros, but I don't know how anyone could do an updated 3D model of Simon Belmont justice. I'd rather see someone like Soma Cruz, who I think would fit in better with the rest of the cast and have Simon maybe included as an 8-bit assist trophy. Otherwise, an Atlus character should definitely be included since they've had an amazing run on 3DS. Just not any characters from Persona, please.

Dark Samus, despite the name, isn't a variation of Samus at all and has more in common with Mother Brain and a Metroid than Samus.

Design wise she looks like Samus, but she's different enough and could have an entirely unique moveset without being at all like Samus

My DLC packs:

Mewtwo - Cerulean Cave stage
Lucas and Ninten character skin for Ness plus more custom moves - Magicant HD

Lucas can't be a skin for Ness, vets aren't going to be made into skins. This is one of the major reasons Doc is a character and not a skin, despite starting his life in Smash 4 as a skin.

I actually wouldn't mind this. Hell, add all four of them in there. They look like great characters that would contrast with the Mario Bros crew.

At the very least, I doubt Namco hasn't thought about costume DLC; personally, I'd love to see the son, daughter, and mother from Doki Doki Panic as costumes for Mario, Peach, and Luigi, respectively. I'm not sure what to do about the father... maybe make him replace Toad? Then again, as Watch Da Birdie said, Nintendo not owning these characters is part of the reason they slapped a Mario skin on the game in the first place.

I'm actually surprised by those results. I mean, I thought Japanese players generally didn't care for DKC, that they only like the more-linear Metroids (Where Ridley tends to play a smaller role), and that Krystal as a character was completely reviled over there! I mean, I could still see them being on the list, but I thought, like, Sigurd, Isaac, or Andy'd be higher up.

If we're going by what I think? First, because Sakurai's confirmed they were finished on on 1 system, I want the Ice Climbers back. Their game was awful and deserved to be forgotten prior to Melee, but the 2 of them are one of the series' most inventive characters; with how much Smash has done for the series, I see them more as original reps. If the Chorus Kids were cut from Smash 4, then I'd put them at the same priority level, albeit because their series is a major franchise. Behind them, I'd want to see Lucas, Snake, and Wolf back, too. After getting the Brawl cast back (Barring the rest of PT), I feel Ridley, Dixie, Andy (Or another CO), Impa, and Isaac are the 5 characters that the game's missing the most. I'd also like to see Bayonetta and Bomberman added because they'd both be interesting characters, and because SEGA and Konami got reps in the last game, too.

Beyond that? Personally, I'd love to see Daisy, Toad, K. Rool, Mona, Wonder Red, Inkling, Dillon, Primid, Samurai Goroh, Tom Nook, Mr. Sandman, Takamaru, Crash, Rayman, Marina Liteyears, the remaining Melee cuts (Or at least Pichu, with Roy and Young Link as alts), and Nester added in. However, absolutely none of these characters are a high priority, as much as I'd love to see all of them. I'd argue the ones that are AT's/part of another fighter's moveset are good where they are (Although Daisy should at least be a full-fledged alt), and that in time, the Inklings, Dillon, or Wonder Red might earn a spot. However, they're all just dream choices for me, and would be "out-there" choices if they actually got in.

Lucas and Wolf take priority for obvious reasons. Then Dixie, who has no reason to not be in already. Then a Rhythm Heaven rep, who is very likely to happen. Then K. Rool and Ridley (Sakurai's just pulling our legs guys). That way all of the original 8 will have their baddies (if you give Bowser Jr. to Yoshi at least). After that...Isaac I guess? Really, aside from Toad, Ridley, K. Rool, and Ridley, all the major players are already in. And Toad would be Captain Toad, who's prime newcomer material for the next game.

The likes of Inkling, Codename Steam character, Xenoblade X character, etc are better suited for Smash 5. It will need its own hype characters. DLC should be reserved for characters who should be in already, like Dixie.

Ridley of course, to bad sakurai could care less what fans want, we barely got mewtwo. Sakurai wants us to appreciate his "work ethic" and selfish choices. We aren't getting crap dlc wise after mewtwo comes out.

We must worship Wii fit trainer, lack of an adventure mode, dark pit and 1000 KI trophies. In sakurai we must lol.

Snake needs to come back.
I really don't care about any posts stating otherwise as if they work at Nintendo HQ.
He got In once already and is in the same position he was in last time. Plus veteran status is always a factor as we see here with the Japanese ranking.

It's time, Nintendo.

I recently polled my old college, and out of the 578 students I polled, over 47% of them said "Tin Star" was the one Nintendo character they remember most fondly.

In a 2002 interview with George W. Bush by Entertainment Weekly, when he was asked which video-game character he considered to be worthy of carrying out his duties as President of the United States, he said "By golly, it'd be that good ol' Tin Star for sure heheh."

But...Mr. Sakurai, god-complex he has, doesn't think we deserve a tainted "western" character.

Also,

And a Black Mage Chocobo .... would be interesting to see something like Robin but even more Magic focused

Yeah, I must be imagining all of those pre-release Mega Man, Little Mac, Pac-Man, Bowser Jr., Palutena, Shulk, and Animal Crossing requests. Fuck Sakurai!

Dark Pit was originally a Pit alt, but he was made into a separate character in little time without affecting the development schedule. An extra character is an extra character, regardless of who it is. Dark Pit didn't take anyone else's place.

There are "1000 KI trophies" in the 3DS version because the models could easily be pulled from Sakurai's previous game. The Wii U version only has a handful of Kid Icarus trophies.

You really don't seem to know what you're complaining about.

Now for the sakurai white knights. The only really popular characters who were included were Megaman, pacman, little Mac, and bowser jr. Every other character was just garbage/random/sakurais personal preference. So many nobodies were made playable it's crazy (tons of freaking marketing bleh).

Sakurai ignored The big 3, (mewtwo got so lucky via dlc due to the insurmountable amount of requests he couldn't be ignored.).

Tons of character cuts, 3ds version held the real versions potential back, tons reused assets, lack of adventure mode, lack of interesting ways to unlock characters, lack of dlc support, amiibos are worthless connectivity wise with the game.

Smash Wii u is a very mediocre smash brothers sequel and I blame 100% for it.

But how do you really feel?

Just a non sheeple dissatisfied customer.

I know it's a lot I just USED to really love smash and am still a little butthurt over it.
Okay then...

- That's your fault for not looking into what others may have wanted. I for one really wanted Shulk in the game & am hoping that the Chorus Kids, who were playable at one point according to numerous sources, come back as DLC. Palutena was a big request, Duck Hunt Dog had a cult following, Lucina was popular amongst the Fire Emblem fanbase (the same cannot be said for Roy), Dark Pit was requested by Japan, Dr. Mario was a cult favorite from Melee, I could go on.
- The only thing that the 3DS did to negatively impact the Wii U version on was the Ice Climbers. The removal of transformations was for the better balancing-wise.
- Every veteran was remade from scratch
- I honestly don't miss SSE seeing as it ate up tons of development time in Brawl & the mode wasn't really that good, but a Melee-esque Adventure Mode would have been nice.
- As a tournament organizer, I appreciate that they made it easy to unlock characters. If only custom moves & stages were as quick to unlock.
- We don't know that for sure, yet. Even with what we know, we're getting a considerable amount of DLC support.

I've enjoyed Smash 4 just as much as Melee, but for different reasons. And for reference, I'm the 9th best Smash 4 player at College Station, I travel to tons of tournaments, run Smash 4 tournaments over at College Station, & also play Melee & Project M competitively. Do I have my complaints, hell yeah I do (unlocking custom moves is a big one, & why is Pac-Land bound to playing all 3 Smash Tour maps?), but I still enjoy the game regardless.
