That's hot.
If the dpad was larger (than the GC's, natch), I could REALLY dig that if it were real. That's hot.

Although I am probably one of the only people that LIKED the GameCube giant green button idea.
You mean like this mockup, but without the gap between the D-Pad and C-stick? (Like the WaveBird):-

Yeah, it's a nice idea but the games need to be specially made for it. N64 games were more often than not a great fit for it though, but that may come partially from Nintendo being more faithful to lettering than placement, and the fact the GC controller IS essentially an evolution of the GC controller: B and A were generally used for the same actions as B and A on the N64 controller, and the C buttons became the C-Stick with secondary functions tied to those usually portable to X/Y at least partially.I liked it, but it didn't work well for third party games (or say, Virtual Console games.)

I'm sorry to ask this, but I checked the first page and this one;
Are there any impressions of someone using the new WiiU Gamepad (the one without the screen), is it comfortable?

People sure love their Gamecube controller.
I don't.
Cube controller is more comfortable than any other controller I've used. It did have a lot of issues though. The dpad sucked, the c stick sucked, the z trigger was clearly tacked on...But yeah, definitely the most comfortable controller.I think it's mainly a ton of kids and young adults grew up with their Gamecubes (the system was a staple of college campuses back then) and are loaded with tender memories. Neither it nor the Wavebird were that great. The reason I'd put the PS2 pad and Controller S over them is they covered multiple genres better; the GC pads were only good for RE4 and 3d exploration games.
This WiiU pad looks better in so many ways, please don't suggest it incorporate these properties of the GCN pads.Unlike them, I could seriously use this just as much for VC games as I could modern action games.
I hope no one is expecting the L and R buttons to be analog.
So assuming the sticks still aren't clickable, these are going to have less functionality than the cc?
The only thing that's still vague is the triggers being analog or not (due to conflicting stuff). We know both gamepad and pro have rumble, motion stuff, and clicky sticks.
Considering all they're packing in I have high hopes we'll finally have a weighty controller from Nintendo again. The Wavebird set the trend of light Nintendo controllers, and I'm glad we seem to be going back before that.

Guy here specifically mentions that it feels really light.
so I don't know how you could begin to say they have less functionality than the Classic Controller.
You don't know how prefaces work, do you?
I really hope the Wii U Pro controller isn't as light as the CCPro. I'd imagine the rumble would add some weight..Considering all they're packing in I have high hopes we'll finally have a weighty controller from Nintendo again. Im honestly surprised about the backlash from gamers regarding the Wii U's controller positioning of the right side analog stick. It's in the primary position, its going to feel so fucking good when playing dual analog games.
I agree. You can't really win with the right stick positioning. I'd like to see consoles shipping with modular controllers, like that one Mad Catz made, only better.Im honestly surprised about the backlash from gamers regarding the Wii U's controller positioning of the right side analog stick. Classic Controller has:So assuming the sticks still aren't clickable, these are going to have less functionality than the cc?
IF the sticks weren't clickable, we could delete it from my above list, and CC would have the advantage in buttons while PC would have the advantage in non-buttons.Andrex said:I still don't know how you could say the Pro Controller would have less functionality, even if the preface holds true. Why don't you explain it to me.
ProController has motion controls?!Classic Controller has:
Analog+click L&R
Pro Controller has:
Clickable sticks
Motion controls
Probably rumble
Neither completely wins.

ProController has motion controls?!
and about rumble... people at engadget said at the last line they didn't find any rumble functionality... does even the GamePad have rumble?

I could be wrong about that. I thought it would lack things like screen and mic, but motion controls would be a much bigger loss and is standard on one of the other current-gen "normal" controllers. However, if Nintendo has a spec sheet specifically for the Pro Controller, I'm not seeing it.ProController has motion controls?!
