After playing a ton of Nintendo Land last night I've decided that I'm completely happy with Wii U's visuals. If Nintendo's games all look this good I'm going to be so pumped.

Even though you can play games on gamepad is there a way to only output it to that and not both? I think Nano Assault does this? (Honestly i didn't bother to look at the TV since staring at the gamepad lol)

After playing the WiiU it's pretty clear where all their budget went: the controller. They're betting on having different types of games playable on their console to sell huge amounts again. We'll see if it pays off, I don't expect it to do as well as the Wii though since the difference isn't as immediate. I applaud them for going for it though, whether it pays off or not.

Interesting I would have any USB drive would work.

Although, I remember reading that external drives need to have their own power supply to work with the Wii U. Can any confirm if this is correct?

The one I tried was a Western Digital Elements that didn't have it's own power supply. Whenever I plugged it in it wouldn't correctly detect it.

Mario 64 2 and Wii Sports U need to really cash in on the great possibilities of that Wiipad. Nintendoland demonstrates how full-size games could really benefit from the freedom to use the pad as a 360 degree camera (running around the world while moving the pad to look around the environment ala Ninendoland hubworld). For me personally, that was the coolest part of the game.

Jesus fuck :lol

This is the message that got me banned: ''Shove that hammer where it don't shine.'' (Posted that after I beat a boss in NSMBU)

What message did you write?

This is great...the meltdowns are going to be epic.

Also...you DO know you're on a Nintendo console yes?

So my wonderful aunt who is on her way back from out of town found a premium model for me and i am about to run by the bank and get money out for her and then heading to best buy to pick up some stuff so are there any games i have to pick up other then Zombi-U? I don't care for the third party stuff so i was thinking Mario?

Also has the external HDD stuff been figured out? Do they need to patch it in via firmware or can we already do it and if so are there any guides out there? I do have an external TB HDD but i know nothing about it.

Also, SUPER EXCITED!

yet at the same time I don't want it shoehorned into Mario Universe just because they feel they should use it.

If you couldn't walk in on day one to get one, I highly doubt you'd be able to find one today. But who knows, you may get lucky.

I have one on the way. Just curious as to how they're selling. Sounded like it was pretty easy to pick one up yesterday.

Mario is better looking than some people are saying and it's a very strongly designed game and I haven't even played too much.

With the different modes and whatnot, it seems a no-brainer.

I imagine they'll be very strict with family friendly games, considering kids and all.

But yeah, that's bloody harsh. Two weeks? C'mon Nintendo. I reckon they'll try to set an example early on, but become more lenient overtime. Not that I care anyway since I do not make such vulgar statements anyway.

It'd be great if Miiverse had a "post only to friends" option that left it unmoderated. Hopefully that becomes the case when it becomes apparent Nintendo can't moderate every single fricking game forever.

I'm wondering if some games will eventually be dropped due to inactivity.

Played with my Wii U for probably a total of 6 hours or so yesterday (once I got the patch and moved stuff over from my Wii). I honestly had no issues with the system other than during the beginning of the day when Miiverse was throwing errors. That went away towards the late afternoon. Played 6 of the 7 games I came home with and they all seemed fine to me. Probably the standouts for me were ZombiU (which I really loved), Nintendoland, and Scribblenauts. Sonic Racing was surprisingly pretty entertaining. Really glad I picked it up.

I've been wondering that too. Are they still going to be moderating TANK TANK TANK posts three years from now? Moderation doesn't scale whatsoever, better to just leave it in the hands of the community to flag things.

Yesterday it seemed like every store around me had a few when i called them at 9am but like a fool i waited too long and everyone was sold out, i literally called every walmart, target, bestbuy, toysrus, kmart, gamestop, EB in a 2 hour driving distance and they were ALL sold out.

Most of the stores i called even had pre-recordings saying they were out of wii-us before you could even speak to a worker.

Nintendo's coming down with an iron fist right away. I expected as much. They have to make it clear they are serious about policing the discussions early on. Establish the right tone right away if they expect any type of control and order.

Also like said they might be even more strict when it comes to certain games. I'm curious if the parental controls determine which communities accounts have access to or are even visable. If that's the case then it makes sense for them not to tolerate any kind of negative talk in the Mario community since very young kids will be allowed into when parental settings are turned on.

Nice to see some people are actually enjoying their Wii U's given some of doom and gloom out there. Really looking forward to spending more time with mine...I've got Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper and TTT2 on the way from Gamefly in addition to having Nintendoland, NSMBU and AC3 at home right now.

Does anyone know if the NY Nintendo World store is getting daily shipments of WiiUs as they did for the Wii?

I'm heading home for Thanksgiving I was going to try to get one their if I can. Last time for the Wii their daily allotment went to scalpers who were camping overnight so hopefully things aren't that bad yet.

The ability to play games on the gamepad screen is an awesome feature. I have been playing Mario while my wife watches tv. I really wish all the games would use this feature.

Anyone have a list of the ones that do?

I know Mario, Black Ops, and Mass Effect do.

Assassins Creed 3 does too.

yet at the same time I don't want it shoehorned into Mario Universe just because they feel they should use it.

It would benefit Mario 64 2 (whatever they call it) more than anything. Have you tried Nintendoland yet? It allows you to still use the right stick as a horizontal camera while using the Wiipad movement to freely look around the environment. It's very cool and could be a huge advantage in a 3D platformer like Mario.

That's good news. My kids are going to be using this system so I'm glad that Nintendo are really actively moderating the channels.

I don't blame them.

I wouldn't want my kid reading dirty shit or seeing dick pictures everywhere and completely understand that they want to set examples early on but a comment like this should get a slap on the wrist at best. Didn't seem like a comment that warrants a temp ban but i guess they do want to show people that they are NOT fucking around.

I'm very confused by backwards compatibility on this system. Do all the old peripherals work? Does the tablet controller work with Wii games that used the classic controller?

Wii mode is literally running Wii's OS, so all Wii peripherals will work. WiiU ones will not.

I had some trouble until I charged the gamepad up sufficiently.
Didnt realize the mini usb connector wasnt in fully. It connected right away after that.

Thanks. This was the issue. Weird that it didn't mention this at all in the setup or give a warning about the charge. The dock didn't work either. I had to plug in the mini USB directly.

The download was just really slow because so many were hitting the server.

Have you used the Wii shop over the past few years? Nintendo's servers are always slow. I think they actually have it throttled per user at some ridiculously low rate.

As far as just plain enjoying Wii U, over here we're having tons of fun with NintendoLand. I actually think all the attractions are well designed and polished.

Metroid is really, really good, and the wiimote+nunchuck controls seem to work better than in most Wii games that tried similar schemes.

Perhaps mindset helps, but I am treating it like the theme park it pretends to be, running back and forth between attractions and messing around in the plaza. I could see the attraction train feature also working out really well with groups; smart touch there.

Both I and my SO are enjoying the social stuff to, though we'll have to be careful reading about the banhammers coming down up there.

Nintendo should have adopted the YouTube system where users flag objectionable content. The moderators seem a bit too "Big Brother" for my liking.

Had a blast playing Mario with the gf last night. I really like helping her out in Boost Mode!

Now hurry up and announce Galaxy 3 and Galaxy 1+2 HD Collection so I can dismiss the residual buyer's remorse that's still hanging around...

Is it fine to keep my tablet docked in the charging station at all times? I have it set up next to my Wii U and it just makes it convienient to keep it there even when it's obviously fully charged. It looks like the charging light does go out once it's done, but I want to make sure I'm not running the risk of messing up my battery or something by keeping it there.

Liking the good impressions of Nintendoland. Going to make the time to check it out tonight.

im interested in the answer to this too.

As said you can flag post. They likely are able to actively monitoring communities at the moment because the system just launched. That or they could just be making a special case for the Mario community and likely Nintendo Land as well.

I would hope so. That's where it is going to sit when not in use.

so no eShop review until you had an hour of play for that game is kinda neat

They did get some things absolutely right.

Can you play Nintendo Land games online with friends or is it local only? If it is online and lets say me and a friend play a game can we both use our gamepad? or does one of us have to use a wii mote? I know local multiplayer requires the wiimotes.

For now I have the charging cradle and the non-charging cradle next to eachother and move it over once I see the light go off, just to be safe. Is the precedent for a device severing the power connection once it recognizes that the battery is full?

Played Nintendoland at my cousin's last night, all the VS modes are brilliant. My aunt who never plays games was getting really competitive.

It begins :D

You know, I didnt expect to have so much fun with NintendoLand, but its pretty good stuff.

Local only. Only online interaction it has is when Mii's visit your plaza, and Miiverse posting.

EDIT: What is funny is that Metroid Blast seems like the way Metroid: Other M should have controlled. Same with the music.
