I just learned that you can use the Gamepad TV Remote function with the console off. I accidentally pressed the TV button and voila, out of nowhere the remote came up. My mind was blown.

It probably will, I'd guess that's why it isn't present at launch. The real question is: Will we be able to upgrade our WVC games to WUVC games for free? Or at the very least, a minimal charge.

So I have a bravia tv and apparently they aren't completely compatible with virtual console games.

Is there any truth or details to this rumour?

Older models refuse to let you display an HD signal as 4:3. Newer models clearly fixed it, and for all I know this may only apply old OLD ones, like 2005 old. They can also have the overscan problem unless I'm missing something, and in any case it's not implausible that this is a problem affecting somewhat older HDTVs period, not just Bravias.

Not particularly wanting to replace the TV over THAT, though I could always get that ASUS monitor that's highly praised and use HDMI over that for 4:3 games I guess. Or just bump it down to 480p, whatever.

Sounds rough. Nintendo Land is known to have some issues, but it's rarely that pervasive. Apparently disconnecting from the Internet is a quick fix.

if you have other games wait for the patch for that one, I don't play it anymore dude to that issue.
but the meantime fix is to take the Wii U offline not connected to the internet I heard

Anyone else getting a ton of connection errors. My PS3, 360 and phone never have issues connecting to my wifi from my room. Wii U seems to have terrible. I even did the suggested manual setup. It's helped a little, but not much.

The only surefire way around that is to disconnect from your network permanently while you play that game. It communicates heavily with Miiverse, and apparently it's really awful at handling connection problems, which results in a complete system hang necessitating a plug-pull. Hopefully that gets fixed.

I'm glad it wasn't just me! It is definitely a feature I didn't expect that I would use so often. If they added AV receiver it would be even more amazing. Definitely looking forward to updates in the future.

Just a heads up for people who want to play their new console immediately and still update it.
Last night, I set mine up and hit "cancel" at the first mention of the update. We played Nintendoland for a while and then I went to update it. To my surprise, it skipped downloading and simply started installing it. It took less than 15 minutes.

So you just hit cancel with your update message pops up... then go enjoy your game for a while

This probably isn't the right thread for this, but I've been playing Twilight Princess and while it does indeed look somewhat better on Wii U, it still has some of the same issues that the IQ had coming from the original Wii. Namely, those bizarre "dots" that appear in linear formation against certain colors or patterns. Anyone know what I'm even talking about?

I'm wondering if I could calibrate my TV in such a way that it would help eliminate some of those visual terrors, but I wouldn't want to calibrate it in a way that only benefits a case like this.

Sorry, but those lines and dots are inherit to the Gamecube and thus Wii's limited colour bitrate. As the Wii U is hardware based BC, the issue will remain.

Nothing to do with your TV. You're just going to have to ignore it.

What's this? I thought miiverse had a search function? Isn't it the only way you can do a friend request that actually appears as a request on the other person's WiiU? If you use the friends list the other person has to also add you back like with friends codes.

So on miiverse you can only do that to people you find wandering around or in the communities? That seems odd.

moved my Wii SD card to Wii Mode on Wii U and copied my save files without using the transfer app. So yeah I bet I can do it backwards if I wanted to. Xenoblade has a new home.

This is the news i neaded to hear, too. I don't want to transfer everything from my Wii to WiiU, only some saves...

Assuming you like both, NSMBU. ZombiU will eventually drop in price, and NSMBU won't.

Alternatively, if you have any friends/loved ones to play with, NSMBU is a clear winner.

Well I'm thinking of getting Mario since ZombiU is one of those titles I can easily see being cheaper a few months down the line. Still I'm hoping for a nice sub £40 price for Mario so I'm left waiting on both fronts. May just have to grin and bear it and cough up the dough for my Mario action.

I'm not sure if I have enough money to get two, and I won't know until I find out if a debt I've called in gets repayed on time or not. I'll get both eventually, but...

I originally wasn't sure if I had enough money for even one of them, but then K-Mart is saving me 50 on the console and 10-20 on each game via pricematching.

Zombi, it's a really unique game, it can feel a little bit rough around the edges sometimes but it's atmosphere is flawless, really great game, it's like no other game I've played before. Loving it. I still have way too many '12 titles I need to play first but it could very well end up being my GOTY, easily. It's the best launch game I've played, that's for sure.

NSMBU. I hear many mixed things about ZombiU. Plus, I'm enjoying NSMBU way more than I thought I would.

On the other hand, I've played three Mario games in life, and got almost nowhere, so the experience is relatively fresh for me.
