I had my second hard lock today :(

And it wasn't even during a game, I was just trying to open up Miiverse.

Had my first hard lock yesterday when I was messing around with the UI.
Not as bad as my Wii though, that hung almost every time i tried to load a game.

Am I missing something, or is there no way to view lifetime stats on the Activity Log like you can on 3DS? All I can see are daily/monthly.

Just set up a Nintendo account for my son, and had to provide my email address for confirmation. But they didn't charge me any money. Is that just the US?

My experince couldnt have been any better, no connections issue, no lock ups, apps even load really fast alot faster than reading gaf made me believe they would.

The OS only takes a long time to load after reinitializing the entire thing when dumping out of some situations. Like coming back from a full game.

Otherwise, loading and switching many apps isn't that slow, especially compared to the mess that is the 360's current dash.

I saw 2 of the premium black bundles at Walmart yesterday which is the one I would want. I was tempted to grab one.

I will read through some of this post but for those of you that have had it since day one and have put some time in what is your honest opinion so far? I want it but most of my gaming time always ends up on my Xbox 360 no matter what other systems i own.

Big Mario Kart fan but not seeing any info about one coming out anytime soon, might give the system some time to see if a price drop comes

Well, I'm warming to the system now. Rage is subsiding etc

Just editing my mii right now!

I went down to GAME and trade in Nintendoland for MarioU....£49.99! W.T.F! All the other games were the same price including Nintendoland (lol) but a couple had a blue sticker saying £25 including Tekken Tag and Batman! Don't mind if I do! The small print said "when bought with anything else in store" but this had been crossed out so I thought they must have been bombas and took them to the counter. "Sorry mate, £25 when bought with a WiiU...fuck dat!

So went for MarioU in the end...they gave me £30 for NL!!! so the game cost me £20 which is what I wanted! I might pick up NL again one day when its £5!

Managed to activate my friends list etc to get the plaza working! Is my NintendoID the same as my mii name?

My Mii is called brera and my username is quattro if anyone wants to add me :)

I'm glad someone else agrees with me

Disclaimer: My 360 is a launch one!

Well my experience with the system so far is incredible smooth thank God.my main concernes are the downloading speeds( some very fast and some very low) and the battery life. But I try to adopt between the games. For example when I play Mario I only look at the tv screen so I have the brightness on 1, giving me more time...

Just thought i'd list the prices of accessories at GAME:

Wiimote - £49.99 (thats nearly $100)
Nunchuck - £16.99
Pro Controller £49.99

Is anyone even paying those prices? I was shocked!

I bought a used Wiimote back then for like 15$ (That's nearly 30$! :p) and it was in perfect shape, I suggest searching in the used marked. Because indeed, the prices are shoking.

Though I'll probably buy a brand new Pro Controlller.

ha... no :(

The Wii points are transferred for use in the Wii Shop in Wii mode -- not the Wii U eShop.

I can't wait to get an HDTV (I know, in almost 2013 I still use SDTV's).

Anyway, so I heard we might get a conference on the 10th?

This launch was crying out for a Monkeyball game. Sega missed an opportunity I think.

Yeah, that was my first and only GCN purchase on launch day and I wouldn't get another game for many months (I think I got Smash Bros. sometime between Jan. and March of '02). I was super excited to have a new Nintendo system with such a goofy yet polished and well-reviewed game. I think the closest thing Wii has is something like Rayman: Legends, but that is still a ways off.

...are you fucking kidding me???

They had the balls to implement the 3DS demo limitation? Why!? What does Nintendo or the publisher gain?

It's to prevent users from playing the demo repeatedly in stead of buying the full game. Some people get "enough" from a demo that they don't feel the need to purchase the product. I think 10 is too low a limit though; they should all be 15+ at least.

Out of the dozens of bits of hardware I've bought over the years, this is the only one to have issues.

The only one.

Hmm, but yes, there must be something wrong with my router settings, not the console. That's the only logical assumption!

Google the issue and see how many different people with different problems getting online/downloading the update there are. The vast majority are knowledgeable people who don't have their routers set up wrong.

Bull.

I purchased a brand new Xbox 360 a year ago...no problems.

A couple months ago, I purchased a new Netgear router, and low and behold....my Xbox 360 started getting numerous error codes when I'd try to connect to Live.

Did I complain to Microsoft about this? No. Assigned a manual IP address to the 360, opened up a few ports for good measure, BAM. Back to working flawlessly. No problems.

The fact of the matter is, if numerous people around you are saying that their setup went smoothly, and your system update is always timing out, then that's an issue with your network settings...straight up. I'm not disputing that the update is huge and takes a while to download, but problems like what you're describing aren't Nintendo problems. They are router/ISP problems. Check that ish.

And yeah, I know 9 hours is a lot and some are probably like "seriously" but it's not just for 9 hour marathons I'm talking about. Right now you can't even really host a Madden Tournament. If you had a large gathering and everyone wanted to play Nintendoland you probably won't get 4 hours out of it before the gamepad's dead. it's not just that it's now something you can't just pick up and sit down throughout the day, it's not just that you can't play a long hardcore gaming session with it, not just that you can't forget to charge it one night, it's also that you can't even use the thing in the party environment for too long either. It puts a time limit on a device that previously had no "relevant" time limit. Before your system was fine for a day if it was charged no matter what it was, PS3, Wii, 360, if it was charged and you brought people over it would last that day. Not now. I think that's sad.

Agreed. 3-4 hours sounds ok, but that's if it's fully charged. Real world situations need to allow for you forgetting to charge it, or perhaps having the controller on for a bit while you're setting stuff up. I think 6 hours should have been a bare minimum, and they could have done that with a battery the the capacity of this one, which would still be light enough and not that large. Your hands don't reach the middle of the back of the pad anyway, so a slight bump would have been fine.

Went to the local MediaMarkt today, was suprised to see they still had loads of Wii U's in stock (there was another shelf to the right with some units):

CvUQi.jpg

Price for 8gb set is €278, deluxe 32gb is €325 and the special ZombiU pack goes for €369.

Is that Media Markt Arnhem, by any chance?

MM Eindhoven is no different, only the piles of WiiU's are bigger.
MM Schoten, near Antwerp (Belgium)

Saw both models were in stock on gamestop.com this AM so I went ahead and ordered a Deluxe and Mario because they have free shipping now. Can't wait. I hope the people who really want one and can't find one locally realize they can easily be ordered online without dealing with scalpers now.

Yep, accessory prices are nuts. I could do with a couple of wiimote+ as my current wiimotes with motionplus attachments are pretty clunky next to my zelda one. But I'm not paying that kind of money for them. And we don't seem to have the fire sale on flingsmash that some from the US are taking advantage of.

That's pretty cheap compared to what they are here. Premium is 379 euros, with some shops trying to get 399. Luckily I got 5% off and only paid 360 euros, but that's still quite a bit more...

blockbusters had it on sale for £19.99. it's currently awaiting stock now unfortunately. :(

cex have it for £15 with the remote, but again, the stock is very limited if you want to pick it up in store. they have motion plus remotes for £22 though, I assume you can check out the quality of the remote before buying it.

Got a problem with the TV remote function. I've got a Samsung TV and when i press the input button the input menu opens on my tv and i can cycle through the different inputs. But i can't close the input menu with the wiiu gamepad. Is there a solution to this?

What do you do on your TV remote? On my Bravia you can press enter or just wait and it'll confirm after a delay. Try some of the buttons on the wiiU?

Edit: on my Bravia, the 'A' button on the wiiU acts as 'enter' - try that

Hit ENT.

If pressing Input again or the B button don't work, I guess you'll just have to wait it out.
