Went to the local MediaMarkt today, was suprised to see they still had loads of Wii U's in stock (there was another shelf to the right with some units):

Price for 8gb set is €278, deluxe 32gb is €325 and the special ZombiU pack goes for €369.

Is that Media Markt Arnhem, by any chance?

MM Eindhoven is no different, only the piles of WiiU's are bigger.

Got a problem with the TV remote function. I've got a Samsung TV and when i press the input button the input menu opens on my tv and i can cycle through the different inputs. But i can't close the input menu with the wiiu gamepad. Is there a solution to this?

Nope, same thing with mine, I just use the regular remote.

settings on what menu? i cant see them on the OG wii menu

Main WiiU menu.

I think I just had my 1st WiiU lock up. Was playing with my son on NSMBU and the TV went blank and the gamepad. Wii remote was still on as well as the WiiU itself. Had to pull the plug to turn it off.

Cool, will check out cex, thanks

no worries. I'm planning to buy one myself from a local one. they have 3 in stock if I'm reading the site correctly, so I'm not worried about any issues.

I would prefer to buy it new, but seeing the £49.99 price tag put me off buying one and it's not much cheaper on amazon at nearly £37.

So...GAMES

Yes, this is a bit of port begging, but since this is a Wii U thread and this is about Wii U games that shouldn't be an issue, right?

Anyway, for me personally the games I'm hoping we get Wii U versions of next year are:

Watch Dogs
Grand Theft Auto V
Tomb Raider
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2
Remember Me
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeros

What about you guys?

Same here, in addition to Bioshock Infinite. But I don't think we can expect much of those games on Wii U. I'd gladly eat crow though.

A little late to the party but just got my system this morning. It is incredibly slick. I love it. No problems on the update other than taking an hour. Everything else has gone super smooth. The sluggish OS is not nearly as bad as folks have been letting on. I just happy the next generation has finally started! Exciting.

I will say that I do think it would make since for Lords of Shadow 2 to come to Wii U considering that the in-between game is coming out on 3DS. Kind of weird to have the first game on PS360, the monkey in the middle on a Nintendo portable, and then the sequel to the first one back on non-Nintendo systems.

You're a brave man. I already learned my lesson with this.

Hey, I'm not trying to rock the boat. I thought port begging was only bad if it was a thread about that particular title. Say...Grand Theft Auto V for instance.

Since this is a Wii U thread a it seems like it would be legit.

Strange to see Nintendo release a official controller with the build quality of the Gamepad... I wonder how this controller will hold up against intense dexterity driven games? I'm not even sure it'll be comfortable to use in those cases. Haven't bought the Pro controller yet, is that any better?

Anyway, Nintendo needs a huge patch.

-Achievement/Trophy system-wide implementation.
-Much faster general UI.
-Better Friend invite/accept notification.
-Support for partitioned HDD's.
-DVR mode for some games. ?
-Better messaging and chat system.

If they can do all this and well within six months it'll at least be at parity with the PS3/360. With novel and actually useful MiiVerse features tied in, it could be better, we'll see though.

I just got an email from Best buy about some reward zone shopping event tomorrow Dec 2nd 7:30-9:30PM EST where you get 15% off all Wii U games and accessories. Not sure how it works but figured I'd pass it along. Not sure if it's worth it's own thread or what.

Yeah. There's obviously plenty of games I think would fit well with the console. I'm very eager for Nintendo to spill some more beans.

REALISTICALLY, I'm hoping for Splinter Cell Blacklist, Rainbow Six, and Watch Dogs. Nintendo and UbiSoft are hella tight these days. Hopefully that translates into us getting these games.

Spent some time playing Sonic Racing on the GamePad today. The image quality seems a bit.. fuzzy? At times it looks particularly low res and funky, which is quite disappointing. Other than with this game, I've been satisfied with the GamePad screen quality, and that low res fuzz wasn't something I had an issue with with NSMBU.

Maybe an issue with this specific game? Not sure.

Either way, I'm persisting with it because the game is fantastic. Had such a blast with it. I wish more people were online but the single player will keep me going for a fair while. Really fun game.

Managed to squeeze about 3 hours of game time in this afternoon as well, which is time I wouldn't have otherwise had with my PS3. That's exactly why I bought the Wii U. Killer feature.

Has anyone else got just Mario and NintendoLand? When looking at my Mii in the frontend with all the game icons my character keeps saying "Last Game Played NintendoLand", even though its been Mario. Weird.

lol, I find it so bizarre that people are actually distracted by the GamePad screen. Is it so difficult to just look at one screen and not the other? o_O

I guess everyone has different sensitivities to this stuff, so I'm not going to assume anything.

Found some kind of workaround. If you press + or - it changes volume on the tv, which makes the input menu disappear.

That would be nice. I personally wouldn't buy them on Wii U because they're not really the kinds of games I would want to play on it, but something like Castlevania would be cool seeing that the franchise has roots with the original NES. I know that's a really weird way to think about stuff but I've always looked at things that way.

I'm really enjoying MarioU!!!

I expected not a lot but it has equal amounts Mario3, Mario World AND Yoshis Island!

In fact Yoshi's Island seems to have the most influence on the level design!

Still hate the art style but its a slight improvement!

Seriously, I love the browser on this thing. It's actually usable and really fun to just sit around on the couch and surf the web while playing some youtube video on the TV.

And even better, pausing a game for a second to look something up on the web. I love it!

So, Nintendo Network ID's are linked to the console? If I created a new ID/username on my current console, I wouldn't be able to use that ID on a different console?

I dont know because when I first made one they said use an existing one or something so idk.

I'm asking because I'm considering not only a different screen name (for whatever reason I don't like it that much) but also getting a basic unit as the black has just been really bland and fingerprinty so far.

For the time being that would be correct. I really hope they change this at some point.

god =\

For now, they're console-locked. But that prompt about using an existing ID makes this seem suspicious, I think they're planning to open it up in the future... well, either that or Nintendo just has no idea what they're doing.

Well I hope they sort this shit out promptly as there is no excuse or reason for that. It's only a hindrance to users.

That can easily be explained away once 3DS gets NNID access. Doing this was a conscious decision by Nintendo, not some oversight. The only hope is the outcry makes them change their mind, but I've never viewed Nintendo as one to bend to such criticisms.

Meaning this may change, maybe, but don't expect it any time soon.

Playing NSMBU and on 'Mortons compactor castle'. When I die, a message pops up from 'Daniel' with a picture that is a hand giving me the finger. Message says 'to you'. I'm not friends with anyone called Daniel, and that message doesn't show up in my activity feed or messages section.

Weird.

The plaza in nintendoland controls a bit weird. The camera is controlled by tilt? I want to rest the game pad lower down but have to raise it to see the plaza around me!

Edit - what's the best single player Nintendo land games? (Playing multi 2moro)

I think they'll find a way to fix this around the time 3DS gains access to Miiverse aswell

an overkill of controls, two sticks one walks the other moves the camera is different and you have all the gyro movements too lol

The gyro controlling the camera as well as viewport (tilting on the TV screen - what the hell?) is very awkward, and the right stick doesn't control the camera with a high enough sensitivity.

Thankfully, the plaza isn't needed to navigate the games outside of unpacking game goods, but it's an awkward first impression. At least Monita seemed nice.

Yep, accessory prices are nuts. I could do with a couple of wiimote+ as my current wiimotes with motionplus attachments are pretty clunky next to my zelda one. But I'm not paying that kind of money for them. And we don't seem to have the fire sale on flingsmash that some from the US are taking advantage of.

Amazon had the Wii motion+ controllers for about £33, seemed ok.
