I see lots of people talking about how many Deluxe systems stores had...does that mean there are more Basic systems available than Deluxe? Or are they rare? Personally I want a Basic system, since I don't want NintendoLand as I rarely have other people at my apartment who play video games, and I'm hoping to just walk into a non-major store early tomorrow morning and buy one.

Are they going to have WiiU compatible VC games in the marketplace?
I'm under the impression that all VC games have to be played in wii mode with wiimotes, which seems stupid.
Seems really entertaining as a party game, but with all your other options for that sort of game.. with Nintendo Land as the first option, you might want to pass unless you just have extra cash to burn.

That's messed up but why were you crazy enough to leave a LAUNCH DAY console in plain view through your car window? I wouldn't even do that in New Zealand. Your trunk serves two purposes; Holding your spare tire and keeping expensive toys safe.

I'm here. I got locked up in Poli-GAF for a while when the Wii U megathreads were done away with, then I decided to take a break from NeoGAF and Internet and electricity and heat for two weeks. I'm mostly lurking and discovered that axisofweevils (I think it was he) stole my avatar while I was gone. That's thanks for you! >:O
Of course, I'm hyped enough for some elements of the release, but I popped in my requirements for buying a Wii U at launch several times, and those requirements were not met.

I did check out that GT Live thing. I was amused by the "Wii U discs are dual layer DVDs with special copy protection" flub, and the "hey, people are talking about some kind of mistake in what we said about the game discs, but we're out of time, bye!" followup. XD
(I enjoyed a lot of the details they shared, though)

The 8th console generation has officially begun!
Opposite situation. I'm getting a black one but really wanted a white one base purely on the color.
Though, now that I think about it, it's only a matter of time before they start selling controllers.
Every other electronics story near my house is completely sold out of Wii U's through reserves and ticket stubs except for one which won't take reserves but only has 10 available at 12am. No line when I left the store but there were 3 other people who asked about it today.
Meijer always seems to get overlooked for gaming. The clerk said that BLOPS2 only had a 10 people at midnight launch, so if you're searching for one try your local Meijer. I live in a pretty densely populated area around 300k.
Still don't know if I'm going to get one tonight or wait until next month. I have a feeling that like the Wii it won't be impossible to find until after family's get together and see it for the first time.

I called my GameStop to check(and to triple/quadruple check they had my console
...). They aren't doing midnight launch at my GameStop but will be opening early. Oh well, guess I have to wait until 9 AM. Will be looking forward to hearing others feedback tonight
