Darksiders 2 - 7.5 [IGN]

My Summary:

Darksiders 2 developers had the perfect opportunity to fix glitches and bugs, but instead decided not to. Darksiders 2 is lovely game that could had rivalled the top-tier Zelda games, unfortunately it was riddled with game breaking bugs just around every corner, e.g like getting a statue permanently stuck in the corner of a room. Most of these issues could had been fixed with a patch, but Vigil Games are just not bothered.

Thinking of lining up for the New Super Mario Bros U door buster at Old Navy. Anyone have any idea how many copies of games they had when they were giving out Lego Rock Band and Dance Central in previous years?

The whole experience is also astonishingly slow and laggy, which makes little sense on such a low-res system. Every single time you go to the main screen, it takes 10 or 15 seconds to load — apps take just as long, even when all they do is throw up the "this doesn’t work yet" error message. Mario takes a solid 30 seconds to load, during which time it shows a static photo with no indication that anything is happening. Patience is a virtue, but so is processing power. I don’t have the first, and the Wii U doesn’t have the second.

I'm prepping my setup for the Wii U at the moment; am I to assume that the Wii and Wii U's power supply is different? Leaving the sensor bar and the ethernet port at the moment.

Am away to bed soon so I won't be creating it - but someone should make a "Wii U Misc. Review Thread" for games without their own review threads/OT's.

IGN has 2 reviews Batman and Darksiders.

Basically saying their good ports (Batman is held back by poor use of the gamepad); so I think its important to have somewhere people get clear information on these types of reviews as oppose to getting lost in the mayhem here.

So yeah, be good if someone can set something like that up; just for games like this that otherwise would go ignored. Clearly Darksiders is as good (if not better with new controls) as its other versions and a strong port if people don't already own. Batman meanwhile sounds like a decent port but the gamepad is used poorly and that gimmicky launch way we've seen all too many times; not so much a must have if already owned but certainly nothing dreadful.

Course other reviews might say otherwise. Hence the need for such a thread.

So I have no hope of just walking into a store and finding the Deluxe version tomorrow huh? Wasn't planning to get one at launch, but my wife and I were at the mall yesterday and she tried the demo unit at Gamestop and fell in love. This morning she told me she wanted one lol.

The power brick looks bigger for Wii U. And the plug that goes in the back of the console isn't universal between the Wii and Wii U from what I've seen.

Low Res? Do they know it outputs at 1080p?

They do. And they even state it a few times. And they like to point out that while the games can display at 1080p, they don't all look as crisp and clean as the other two consoles and the graphics are on par. Well that's news to me. =x

I usually really enjoy The Verge reviews but this one ugh. "The Wii U is just not a good console" REALLY? Why give it a 7/10 if it isn't a good console.

Seems like the most non gaming people hyped are the re-sellers thinking they're going to make a killing again like they did with the original Wii.

I doubt demand will be as high as it was then when literally everyone and their mama wanted one.

How are the folks at The Verge usually towards Nintendo things? Are they like most other core gaming outlets regarding Nintendo, or should I expect lots of attitude? I honestly haven't heard of them until tonight.

(And if they are like most other core outlets, why are folks treating them with any bit of seriousness? Or giving them clicks for that matter?)

Yup, my Best Buy lied to me yesterday about not having a midnight launch and Wal-Mart didn't have any for non-pre-orders.

I am certainly upset right now.

Weird how the Verge review mentions using the Netflix, Amazon, and Youtube apps. I thought those had been delayed until next month?
