The system is worth it. It has some launch issues, but every console does.
I would recommend waiting a few months for more people to get one and more stuff to come out. Nintendo will patch what needs to be fixed by then probably too.
its a large game.Anyone else having slow downloads? Like Darksiders 2 has been downloading for hours and just now at 81%

these take awhile
ok, yeah, wow that is unreasonably slowIt's been downloading since 7 P.M. And it's just now 81%
I feel kinda bad hoping that my shipped Deluxe system doesn't arrive until later this week. It's almost as if I hope they release another big patch before I experience the system for the first time.
Nintendos first Wii U system update was issued as promised on Sunday, and with it some of the new consoles online capabilities now active. All told, the consoles firmware complete with update takes up seven gigabytes of hard drive space, which means that buyers of the basic 8 GB version wont have much left over.
I heard that it doesn't take up an extra gig, as it deletes the old data upon completion. That's some pretty shocking journalism.Globe and Mail Article:

I know we had conflicting reports that the size is around 5GB and now it's been said it's only around 1GB, but where did they get 7GB from ...
Does it say the size of the update when you download it under your data management? I'm curious.

Any Sing Party impressions? I love karaoke and I take singing lessons so I thought it might be a fun way to practice + play with drunk friends. Also is there a song list online anywhere?

It can't be 7GB cause wouldn't people with the basic system be unable to update without an external HDD?
Has anyone tried if the WiiU Gamepad / Pro pads are recognized as Classic Controllers in the Wii mode?
im guessing you tried the sync?My Gamepad will not connect to the console. Anyone else have this problem or have an idea what the problem is?
Hm, okay. I called NoA and made a new support ticket. I told the guy that it appears to be an issue with 3DS transfer, and that other people have this problem. Of course they couldn't do anything about it right now.
Thanks!![]()

are you planning on a trip to the future before christmas?
I have some questions regarding the system:
MiiVerse: I can access it via the main menu. However when I'm in-game and try to post something to MiiVerse, it says to go and configure it first. What gives? Am I missing something?
WiiMote pointer: Can I use the WiiMote to point at the screen in the main menu for example? I don't want to use the Wiipad at all times, especially when I'm playing coop Mario with my wife. I know I can use the + to navigate but it feels like using a mouse only for its buttons.
Also, I wasn't able to play the Zelda minigame in NintendoLand since it wanted me to point the WiiMotes at the screen but even as I was pointing, it didn't seem to register it even though the sensor bar sits on top on my TV and I was pointing at the right place.
Thanks to anyone that can answer me.
JRPGs rarely launch with systems, and the ones that do are usually very poor in quality. That said, nowadays I'm just happy when a decent JRPG releases in the US at all. Even in Japan, though, RPGs rarely launch with systems.
Not saying it couldn't have happened nowadays, perhaps with a port of a game for a prior system, but early in system life JRPGs like Arcana, Beyond the Beyond, and Lagoon didn't exactly tear up the charts. PS2 launched with several, but those were Summoner, Evergrace, Eternal Ring, and Orphen: Scion of Sorcery. The best I can say for any of those is that Summoner was where I first saw a take on the classic D&D sketch by the Dead Alewives.
Yes. After pressing the 4 symbols it can't find the console despite the fact that it is two feet away from it.

I'm at 25GB left over after the system update, some game updates, and the space reserved for the file system. You only see game/app software data under data management.Globe and Mail Article:

One thing I'm worried about for the long term is that the disk drive keeps spinning when a disk is inserted even when you're not playing it.There aren't any big hardware problems from what I've read, but many people are reporting that the OS is very slow (and it is) and there are errors with Miiverse every now and then. So basically software stuff.
Ended up buying this Toshiba 1TB Canvio® Desk Desktop External Hard Drive, only paid 69 bucks for it and it is confirmed to work with the Wii U since my other External HDD didn't for some odd reason....
