oh i know! but, it is smoothed out a bit and won't look quite as ugly on a 1080p tv, correct?

This has been my experience. It will certainly look better than a Wii with the default composite cables, and the Wii U is likely to be a better upscaler than an average HDTV so it should look a little better than component, too.

Possibly, unless you already have a really good 1080p HDTV with a great scaler.

i haven't owned a wii until now, so i just hope i don't vomit at the output on my tv haha. i can't wait to play super mario galaxy.

Get glasses?

I find gaming miserable without mine.

I have glasses but the issue is my right eye has a huge blind spot it is a cloud of gray that covers anything I focus on with that eye from retina damage. So nearly totally blind in that eye so it covers up text and other stuff. Like when I play mario I miss some gombas and turtles and run right into them... sucks

Hope you like it. It's personally my favorite of the 3D Zeldas, but it's definitely a love or hate game.

ah I tell you in a few days still looking for my bird
normally I would use a guide to play this but I want to discover stuff on my own
love the music :)
don't like being stuck in the friendzone with Zelda :#

Just ordered a 500GB Hard Drive on Best Buy for the WiiU. $40. I doubt I'll ever go over it for the lifespan of the system, especially since I won't be downloading any retail games digitally.

Edit: sold out :/

Thought it was in-store only, now I don't have to go out! :D

Does anyone know if it's possible to set-up the WiiU without hooking it up to a TV? Can you configure the system on the pad?

Also, do we have a list of people and their NNIDs yet?

Does anyone with Assassin's Creed 3 notice the camera feels a bit ... stiff?

I don't remember the camera being the same way on the AC games on the other consoles. Not sure if it's just me or what?

It feels almost as if you have to push the sticks in only 4 directions for it to work, sort of like controlling a camera with a dpad on the Wii.

All you need is for the Wii U console to be powered on. No TV involved for setup, as it is all done on the gamepad.

Also check here.

And with a little luck, we don't have to pay twice for content we already own.

One can hope.

I was able to successfully transfer my old Wii to my Wii U. Now, my original Wii is hacked to kingdom come. Yet, I had a ton of VC games I legitimately bought. I still had about 1900 Wii points on my old Wii. It transferred all of my Miis and my saved games. It transferred my Wii Points over and allowed for me to download all of my VC games and Wiiware games (all legitimately bought from the Wii Shop) to my WiiU.

It ignored the Homebrew Channel completely and any other modifications and extra channels installed on my Wii. However, because my original Wii is hacked, it didn't (couldn't) delete anything from the Wii after it was done.

I just reported Bill Trinen's post on Miiverse as a violation of policy. Reason: advertising.

Yeah, what game? I wanna see it.

Also, eff the haters. Nintendo Land is boss. DK wasn't too hard to beat the two stages, but I'm addicted to Octopus Dance. I already platinumed it, but I still want to play it haha.

Distributors have started sending out the systems to retailers, so the first European stores should get them already on Monday next week, maybe even tomorrow. If you "know someone", you might be lucky and get the system earlier.

Woa how do you know this? That would be great.... but, but...amazon :/

my gamestop told me they would call me when my system is there to pick it up. would be very nice if I could get the WiiU a day or two early

I know >__<

I just hope Shopto do what they did with the 3DS and Vita for me and get the console to me a day early.

ShopTo have never let me down before, I'm hoping we'll get them on the Thursday at least. They're starting to process orders tomorrow, so fingers crossed!

Shopto said they expect to start processing preorders on Friday

Here's what I think about the Wii U gamepad:

It's as good as people describe it; Dispaly good, weight good, all the things people praice it for, BUT...

I think the Wii U gamepad's analog sticks are much inferior to the octagonal analog stick of the Wii's nunchuck/Gamecube controller.

Why did they have to change it??? :( It's kinda loose now. There is no octagon anymore. While it's basically very good for Nintendo Land, platformers and probably a lot more genre, it seems to be pretty bad for FPS!

I've tried ZombiU and was really put down by the controls. Can you really only adjust ONE single "sensitivity" setting for the whole stick? I have to say, I'm dissapointed... The Wii U analog sticks are not as "tight" as the one on the nunchuck/gamecube (like it said, feels kinda "loose" to me). As of now I think dual analog - espially on the Wii U - sucks balls :(

Even basic movement/looking around the environment isn't fun. Too bad there is no pointer aiming in single player. I think I'm just too used to pointer aiming that it has become unexeptable for me to play that way.

Anyone feel the same?

So I just got the Horn of death (Wii U freezes and blasts an annoying horn sound) twice in a row and now I'm hearing the drive click rather loudly. Didn't notice it making this sound last night.

Anyone else have the clicking drive? I have the Wii U setup vertically. Thinking of laying it down flat to see if that helps.

Many stores might get them several days early, but we're strongly dissuaded from selling them early. Nintendo expects us to hide them away until launch. Only exception is for online stores that have to send them out early to get them to the customers on launch day. There will always be stores that are ok with bending the rules, though, for friends or good customers.

So I went into my ISP's account management page to check out the actual size of the Wii U Firmware update from Monday. It isn't 5GB. Total size of the OS AFTER the patch is 5GB. I only downloaded three things on Monday the 19th - the Wii U system update, an update for New Mario and an update for Zombi U. My total usage for that day was 1.9GB.

Does anybody else have liquid looking blemishes in their touchscreen? When you touch the touchscreen it kind of moves around.

I've got that too. On the left side where I've pressed the most I guess with my left thumb. It's hardly noticeable though. I'm trying to just ignore it. But it is kinda lame.

Anyone got any Darsksiders impressions? I really enjoyed the first one. Can't decide between that or Tekken for my final launch game next week.

That's nice. Let's just hope it's possible and painless to convert them to Wii U VC down the road for some gamepad-play goodness.

I got a Wii U from BestBuy (in Canada), and now i'm sort of having buyers regret. So can I open it, without opening Nintendoland ? Like will they give me any trouble? Or should I just return it?

Missed out on the first four days of Wii U talk, but I guess I didn't miss a lot hehe.

Can't wait to play on the machine. I'm still not sure when I'm going to get one, but I hope it's soon.

I'm expecting Amazon to ship on Wednesday.

Indeed. Even paid mine off already as i didn't want the banks to block my card during the process over the next couple of days.

I do love the fact that they use DPD now as well, the one hour time slot they send you makes the wait on the day so much easier :)
